The new series of Winterwatch kicked off on Tuesday[/caption]

This year’s series returned on Tuesday and is live from the RSPB Arne on the shores of Poole Harbour in Dorset.

Michaela and Chris – who both found fame together on the iconic 80s kids show The Really Wild Show – host the series, along with Iolo William.

The trio report live each night from the nature reserve, and bring viewers footage of wildlife and endearing stories about the local area.

However, last night it was a conversation between Chris and Michaela that really got fans talking.

Fans picked up on an innuendo-filled chat between the pair, and branded the show “filth”.

It all started after Michaela and Chris had been talking to their fellow presenter Iolo.

He was on a location where there were woodcocks and explained he was hoping to “get his hands on one” later in the show.

The show then cut back to Chris and Michaela, with the latter cheekily said: “Exciting isn’t it, he could have a woodcock in his hand.”

Turning to Chris, she said: “I bet you’ve got FOMO (fear of missing out) over that.

“You’d love to have a woodcock in your hand.”

Chris then quipped: “I’ll FOMO all over you in a minute.”

Fans were left in stitches at this exchange and immediately took to social media, with one saying: “Rudest chat so far! #Winterwatch.”

Another tweeted: “Pure filth. #winterwatch

This one chortled: “Looks like Chris and Michaela have started early #woodcock #winterwatch.”

Winterwatch has been airing all this week, and will come to an end tonight.

Speaking before the series kicked off on Tuesday, Michaela said: “It’ll be great to return to Arne which we explored in depth in Springwatch.

“It’s always interesting to see the changes in different seasons.

“My favourite part of any Watches are the live cameras.

“Every season they bring something to surprise us, something we weren’t expecting, something unscripted and I always love that.”

This year’s Winterwatch has been set against the backdrop of Dorset’s stunning heathland, wetlands and woodlands.

Its main filming base has been the RSPB Arne, which covers more than 565 hectares of the Arne peninsula.

“It’s a great place because of the diversity of habitats,” said presenter Chris Packham. “It’s an incredibly diverse range of habitats with a great range of species.

“The project of the Super National Nature Reserve continues.

“They’re continuing to sort of expand and consolidate and instigate resilience in that environment, which is really important.

“So that’s something we’ve been very keen to support.”

Winterwatch continues tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.
