Who is Roy Keane’s daughter, Caragh?

Caragh Keane, daughter of Irish football legend and pundit Roy Keane, is making waves of her own, but in the world of healthy food rather than football.

The 29-year-old, one of five children Roy shares with his wife Theresa Doyle, recently appeared alongside her dad on the Stick To Football podcast.

She is launching her new food venture, and it’s clear he couldn’t be more chuffed.

Roy said it was a “proud” moment as she introduced Superkeen, a gut-friendly breakfast range designed for people dealing with digestive issues.

The former Manchester United and Ireland captain has even backed the business financially.

Caragh’s passion for the project stems from her own health journey as she was diagnosed with lupus, an incurable autoimmune condition, back in 2021.

It has led her to explore foods that could help improve her well-being.

Now, her Superkeen cereals have hit the shelves in several major UK retailers, with Roy giving the brand a boost on a podcast that regularly pulls in over a million viewers per episode.

Caragh’s venture into the world of gut-friendly food came after a tough few years battling a range of debilitating symptoms.

From joint pain and alopecia to painful blisters across her face and body, lupus has a number of challenges.

At one point, things were so severe that she was left bed-bound by the condition.

Despite having trained to become a teacher after receiving a degree in Geography from the University of St Andrews, she was forced to turn down what she called her “dream job.”

The role was at her former school in Manchester, but her health simply wouldn’t allow it.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, she admitted: “I cried on the phone because I had to turn down the job and just had to say, ‘I’m really sorry, but I’m really not very well at the moment.’

“I wanted to be the best teacher I could be.”

After undergoing a series of tests, Caragh was finally diagnosed with lupus, which is a chronic autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own tissues.

My dad puts things into perspective and always adds that bit of humour to lighten the mood.

With that clarity, she was able to start making changes and focus on managing the condition, no longer living in the dark or wondering what was wrong.

Caragh added: “Being so poorly ended up being a blessing in disguise because I was able to get the diagnosis really quickly.

“There was a bit of a mourning period for me, when you start to think about how your life might turn out.

“I suppose there was a sense of relief because, with that information, I could start looking into the next steps.

“At the age of 25, you’re sat there being told everything and you’re thinking, ‘I’m never going to have a boyfriend. I’ve not had children yet.’

“That was the sort of thing that was going through my head.”

Fortunately, she was surrounded by a loving and caring support network.

And it looks like the admiration goes both ways, as Roy Keane is about to become the subject of a new film titled Saipan.

Fellow Cork native Éanna Hardwicke has been cast to play Roy, while Steve Coogan is stepping into the shoes of Mick McCarthy.

The film will dive into that now-legendary fallout between the two ahead of the 2002 World Cup in Japan, a moment that’s firmly cemented in Irish sporting history.

For Caragh, the idea of a biopic about her dad is, understandably, a bit surreal.

She was only four at the time the whole Saipan saga unfolded.

“Yeah, something had been mentioned,” she said.

“But then I guess it’s of interest to a lot of people.”

“I had no awareness of any of it, so it’ll be interesting to see what it’s like. But to be honest, my dad is very laid-back [about it].”

Seems like even when the spotlight swings back around, Roy’s keeping his cool, just as he always has.

“He just casually mentioned to us that it’s happening. Anything to do with the limelight, it’s not really for him and I think, actually, that’s been the best thing for all of us.”

Who are Roy Keane’s other children?

Caragh is one of five Keane siblings, alongside her sisters Alanna, Shannon and Leah, and brother Aidan.

While their dad may have been a high-profile figure in football, the Keane kids were largely kept out of the public eye growing up.

But behind closed doors, Roy was always fully present, giving his children his time and attention.

Roy Keane’s daughter has opened up about her excruciating experience with lupus, saying her father’s “brilliant sense of humour” and free-from superfoods helped her through her “darkest times”., Caragh Keane, 29, from Manchester, was diagnosed with lupus, an incurable condition which causes the immune system to attack healthy parts of the body, in 2021, aged 25, after experiencing joint pain, alopecia and painful blisters on her face and body., The fatigue and “severe stabbing pain” forced her to turn down her dream teaching job, and doctors told her she would need to spend the rest of her life on immunosuppressants and potentially have chemotherapy., Caragh said she blamed herself for her diagnosis and thought her “life was over”, but her mother Theresa and father Roy have been her “rock”, adding: “I wouldn’t be here without them.”

That support became even more meaningful when Caragh was diagnosed with the condition.

She shared how his trademark dry humour played a big role in helping her cope during some of her toughest moments.

He proved that sometimes, a bit of laughter really can be the best medicine.

She revealed: “My parents were worried, but they put on a brave face a lot of the time, and they’ve been so supportive.

“My dad puts things into perspective and always adds that bit of humour to lighten the mood.”
