NICK Chevallier is the boyfriend of Springwatch star Michaela Strachan.
Michaela will be appearing on Dancing on Ice 2025, where she hopes to skate her way to a win.
A star director
Director and cameraman Nick Chevallier is based in Cape Town, South Africa and has over 30 years of experience.
His work focuses on wildlife, research, conservation education and community-based projects around Africa.
He has worked on Springwatch and Winterwatch, which his partner Michaela Strachan presents.
Nick also works with a number of local and international TV production companies and a variety of charities and NGOs.
He is best known for his work on Evil Monkeys (2018), The Price (2015) and Caught On Safari: Live! (2008).
Falling in love with Michaela
Michaela and Nick are said to have started dating in 2003 after being introduced in Cape Town by a friend.
Talking to You magazine, Michaela opened up about the pair’s romantic first date.
She said: “After a long walk up the mountain together, a bottle of wine at the top and a cable car down, I knew he was the one.”
The happy couple have been together for two decades but are not planning to tie the knot any time soon.
Michaela has been open about not wanting to get married.
Talking about her previous relationship, in 2018 she told The Mirror: “I think the secret is not to get married.
“I shouldn’t say that.
“That could be taken well out of context.
“But maybe the secret is we’re apart a lot.
“We don’t get on each other’s nerves as much as maybe we would if we were together all the time.”
According to Michaela, she and Nick are very much “like-minded people”.
She said: “We’re both into the outdoors, we’re both into wildlife, being outdoors, being fit.
“We’re very good friends and get on really well.”
Dad of four
Michaela has a son named Ollie, with Nick who was born in 2006.
Nick also has three children from a previous marriage.
He has a daughter named Jade, who born in 1988, and twin sons, Tom and Sam, born in 1990.
The family live together in South Africa home, with Michaela travelling back and forth to the UK for her work.
Speaking to The Mirror, she opened up about being away for a long period of time from her family.
She explained: “I always miss my family but I’ve been doing this job for a long time now.
“Although it seems outrageous to some people, to me travelling around the world has always been my life and it’s very normal.
“It takes a lot of scheduling and it takes a lot of juggling but we do it and we’re all used to it.”
Dancing on Ice
Michaela will be appearing on Dancing on Ice, which kicked off on January 12, 2025.
There are several other huge celebrities competing on the show, alongside Michaela, including Anton Ferdinand and Molly Pearce.
Fans can catch the show when it airs at 6.30pm on Sundays.
