THE 1% Club fans were left divided after the latest jackpot-winning question sparked a fierce debate among viewers.
The ITV game show, hosted by comedian Lee Mack, tests the reasoning skills of contestants – and has a reputation for occasionally leaving audiences scratching their heads in frustration.

Matthew made it all the way to the final question and answered it correctly[/caption]
But some viewers have branded the query ‘sneaky’[/caption]
This weekend’s episode saw five contestants reach the final round, which is a rare feat in itself.
Lee then presented them with a choice: split £10,000 among themselves or go all-in for a staggering £99,000 prize.
They chose to gamble it all – and it was contestant Matthew who walked away with the jackpot after solving what many viewers are calling a “sneaky” question.
The question posed by Lee was: “If you remove all the underlined letters from the sentence below, what word can be spelt if you rearrange all of the remaining letters?”
The given sentence was: ANIMAL TOSHUNINSTAMPEDE.
Once the underlined letters were removed, players were left with ‘thpelean’, which, when rearranged, formed the word ‘elephant’.
Many fans at home were not impressed, claiming the time limit made it nearly impossible to solve.
One viewer ranted: “They were sneaky with the letter P, I’m sure a lot of people missed it – crafty behaviour from the writers of the show!”
Another fumed: “Normally good at anagrams but couldn’t get that in 30 seconds.”
However, others were inspired by Matthew’s quick thinking.
“Yes! I did it again two weeks running. I’ve just finished playing The 1% Club!” one person boasted on social media.
Another sharp-eyed viewer added: “Elephant – the clue was there all along.”
