A SUPERMARKET chain is ‘copying Poundland’ by selling £1 Valentine’s Day rings.

Shoppers have joked “there’s going to be lots of engagement posts everywhere” after spotting the “bargain”.

Following Poundland’s success with its £1 Valentine’s Day Ring, a supermarket chain has followed suit.

Asda has launched a £1 engagement ring just in time for Valentine’s Day.

George Home Valentine’s Engagement Ring features a silver band and a clear stone.

And it comes in a heart-shaped velvet box.

Specific product details are not outlined on Asda’s website, however, other websites have claimed the measurements to be 4.5 x 4.5 x 3.5cm.

And the materials to be 95% iron, 5% acrylic.

Even though the ring comes in one size only, some shoppers say it’s “the perfect fit”.

One customer revealed it’s a “P-Q/large”.

However, other shoppers say “it would be great if it came in wider range of sizes”.

Several people appear to have bought the product out of sheer intrigue.

One person said: “I bought just as a silly purchase, totally out of curiosity, not expecting much.

“Couldn’t believe the perfect fit and quality. I even forgot to take it off when washing hands and it hasn’t damaged it.”

Followed by a second: “It’s pretty, the box is nice and for a £1 it’s a bargain but no ring size means it doesn’t quite fit my fat fingers.

“It was never brought as an engagement ring, I saw the bargain and had to have a peek and it does look nicely made.

“It’s fantastic ring for the kids to play around with or as a video prop. So overall quite nice. It’s better than nothing if your skint.”

Alas, its price has sparked mixed reactions with other shoppers.

One person wrote: “Ring-£1, Her Expression-Priceless.”

Followed by a second: “A nice iron and acrylic ring…just what every girl dreams of.”

But one shopper argued that “love has no price.”

They added: “You know the ring, the dress, the location is all superficial it’s the person you’re marrying.

“Never understand why people spend thousands and some even get into debt for one day which has the same outcome how ever much you spend.

“Bit of paper. Love has no price.”

Asda has been approached for a comment.

It comes after Poundland launched its affordable ring in 2019, causing a storm of controversy on social media.

The £1 accessories, available in stores now, come in a variety of sizes and colours – including one with a silver band and red stone.

Another has a silver band with a small diamond-looking gem in it.

According to Poundland, a whopping 20,000 rings were sold in one week the year they first launched.
