Shoppers rush to buy big packs of Cadbury chocolate scanning at tills for just 87p at major supermarket

BARGAIN hunters are racing to major supermarket after shoppers spotted big packs of Cadbury chocolate scanning for less than £1.

Morrisons has slashed the price of a number of its big packs of Cadbury chocolates to just 87p.

One savvy shopper shared the deal in a Facebook group, posting: “Morrisons 87p all different ones not just one.”

The chocolates include Bitsa Wispa, Crunchie Rocks, Oreo Bites, and Cadbury Animals, all going for a fraction of their usual price.

The 110g bags of sweet treats usually range anywhere between £1.75 to £2 at the major supermarkets.

Sweet-toothed Brits were quick to share the deal, tagging friends to let them know about the cut-price treats.

One shopper excitedly wrote: “Get to Morrisons lol” and tagged a mate.

Another asked: “Have you seen these??” while tagging a friend.

A third added: “Worth a look”, while a fourth simply chimed in: “Crunchie Rocks xxxx.”

It’s not the first time chocolate fans have found unexpected deals at the tills.

Farmfoods recently dropped the price of its Celebrations 550g tubs to just £2.99.

Last week, Shoppers were racing to B&M after spotting Cadbury’s Daim Eggs back on shelves for just £1.50.

The Easter treat returned after the Christmas version, Dairy Milk Robins, was discontinued – leaving shoppers gutted.

Meanwhile, other major bargains could be heading your way as Tesco’s plans to start giving yellow sticker deals to customers for free.

The UK’s biggest supermarket is set to introduce the freebies on food due to go out of date across selected Express stores as part of a trial.

The free products will be available for shoppers who visit these branches after 9.30pm.

The move comes as Tesco looks to cut its food waste.

It is also worth noting that when attempting to snag a good deal it is important to compare with other sites.

Websites like Trolley and Price Spy let you compare prices on thousands of products to see which retailer is selling them cheapest.

You can use the Google Shopping/Product tab to quickly scan the internet too.

MORE RARE CHOCOLATES

B&M shoppers were shocked to see Perky Nanas, usually only sold in New Zealand, now being sold at the discount store for just £1.

The soft banana-flavoured 45g chew bar comes covered with Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate.

Sweet-toothed customers were quick to post the find on Facebook after realising it was a rehash of the full bar sold in the mid-2000s.

In other news, Dairy Milk Cadbury Lamington bar made a surprise return, sending fans into a frenzy.

The desert, which is inspired by the classic Aussie dessert, combines smooth chocolate with raspberry jam-flavoured pieces, vanilla cake bits and a hint of coconut.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
