LEGENDARY racing driver Michael Schumacher’s first Ferrari is set to go on auction.

His rare Ferrari F355 GTS lived at his glamorous Monaco home and is even fit with a key detail chosen by the Formula One star.

The car,  painted in an elegant Blu Le Mans with a Pella Crema leather interior, is going up for auction on February 4.

While it no longer contains its original engine, the Ferrari is still fit with its beautiful retains its original chassis, bodywork, and gearbox.

Fans of Schumacher and Ferrari will be pleased to hear about the rich history behind the motor, which includes accolades and a design choice made by the racer himself.

Built in early 1996, this F355 GTS was reportedly the first Ferrari provided to Schumacher after he joined Scuderia Ferrari.

This was after his back-to-back Formula 1 World Championships with Benetton.

It was delivered to Schumacher via his manager’s company, Weber Management GmbH, in April 1996.

This was shortly after the European Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, where he finished second.

It’s known as one of Ferrari‘s finest mid-engine sports cars, further adding to the uniqueness of this piece of motoring history.

The Ferrari is fitted with a traditional six-gear manual gearbox, which was a preference made by Schumacher.

This offered a welcome departure from the high-intensity demands of F1, gifting the F355 GTS a personal touch that won’t be found on other models.

Schumacher’s history with the vehicle doesn’t stop there, as it popped back into his life several years later in an unexpected way.

During the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix, the current owner, a motoring journalist, showed Schumacher a photograph of his car.

Schumacher instantly recognized the car as the one he drove in Monaco.

He reportedly expressed joy that it was being driven by a fellow car enthusiast.

Who is Michael Schumacher?

Michael Shumacher is a seven-time world champion who competed in Formula One from 1991 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2012.

At the time of his retirement, Schumacher held the records for most wins (91), pole positions (68), and podium finishes (155).

He currently maintains the record for most fastest laps (77).

In 2023, former Formula One rival Giancarlo Fisichella observed that Schumacher “did not even seem to have sweated” during races.

He added that Schumacher is the greatest Formula One driver of all time and “rewrote the history of Formula One”.

During his years racing for Ferrari, Schumacher won five consecutive titles from 2000 to 2004, including unprecedented sixth and seventh titles.

He later made a breif return to the sport after retirmenet, joining Mercedes from 2010 to 2012.

In 2013, he was involved in a serious skiing accident that has caused him to vanish from the public spotlight ever since.

He fell and hit his head on a rock, sustaining a serious head injury despite wearing a ski helmet.

His family reamin highly private about his condition and it is unclear what his current state is.

It is thought that the outgoing owner has been regularly driving the car since 2004.

The car won Best of Show at Spa Italia in 2017, and it has even inspired a 1:43 scale model by Minichamps.

The Ferrari F355 GTS is a key part of Michael Schumacher‘s personal history and the legacy of one of the most iconic brands in all of racing.

Schumacher has an amazing car collection, with several Ferraris included in the multi-million dollar selection.

He owns a 2003 Ferrari Enzo worth $2.4 million, fit with 6.0-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine and 660 horsepower.

His 2007 Ferrari FXX, worth $2.9 million, comes with a 6.3-liter V12 engine that puts out 800 horsepower. 

Schumacher also honours his breif Mercedes stint in his collection with the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
