McDonald’s confirms rare US drink is coming to UK menu for first time ever

AN iconic McDonald’s milkshake usually only seen in the US is set to make its UK debut – but you’ll have to be quick.

The fast food chain is launching the Shamrock Shake in restaurants for the first time from next month.

But foodies will only be able to pick up the Irish-themed drink from March 12 until March 25.

McDonald’s said it will donate 20p from each sale of the drink to the Ronald McDonald House Charity.

We have asked McDonald’s how much the mint-flavoured milkshake will cost and will update this story when we have heard back.

It comes after rumours started swirling online the iconic shake was set to land on UK shores for the first time.

The Newfoodsuk Facebook page recently posted saying the “super minty” drink was set to be added to menus.

Hundreds of Maccie’s customers commented on the post talking about the green peppermint-flavoured drink, but opinions are divided.

Some are buzzing the beverage is making its way onto menus while others aren’t sold on the idea.

One said “I’m feeling this” while another added “my dream haha”.

A third chipped in: “I had it when I went to New York. It’s really nice.”

However, one said “looks too watery to be a shake” while a second added “if you are stupid enough to drink that then go ahead”.

Meanwhile another customer who has already tried it commented: “Tastes like toothpaste, it’s pretty sh**e.”

It comes after McDonald’s re-launched the popular Grimace Shake in December across all its 1,450 restaurants.

The blueberry-flavoured milkshake is another classic US menu item, and inspired by the Grimace mascot, but was only around for two weeks.

OTHER MCDONALD’S MENU CHANGES

McDonald’s is shaking up its menu next week, with four fresh items making their way to restaurants.

From February 12, the fast food chain is bringing back the Philly Cheese Stack, Raspberry and White Chocolate Pie and Mars McFlurry.

Tropicana apple juice will be on menus for the first time and staying as a permanent item.
