Major supermarket slashes the price of huge Quality Street Easter egg and it’s the cheapest around

BARGAIN hunters will be flocking to a major supermarket this weekend as they slash the price of a massive Quality Street Easter egg.

Aldi is stocking the Quality Street Incredible Egg XL for just £9.95 as part of its Specialbuys range – making it the cheapest deal around.

Elsewhere, the chocolate whopper is selling for between £10 and £25, with Morrisons, Waitrose and Ocado listing it at £12.

Amazon is even charging a whopping £25.

The deal, launching in stores this Sunday March 30, is expected to fly off the shelves.

Aldi will also be selling other popular Easter treats at bargain prices, including the Rowntree Randoms XL egg and KitKat Incredible egg for £9.95.

Shoppers can also pick up a Smarties Orange Egg, Smarties Original Egg or Yorkie Egg for £3.45, as well as a limited edition Smarties Sea Splash Egg for £4.95.

This year’s extra-large Quality Street Golden Collection Chocolate Incredible Egg is a real showstopper.

The caramel-flavoured shell is packed with chewy fudge and caramel pieces, while inside, shoppers will find a mixed bag of classic Quality Street toffees, fudges and caramels.

While the brand is best known for being a Christmas staple, this egg is easily an Easter must-have.

As Aldi doesn’t offer home delivery, shoppers will need to visit their nearest store to snap up the offer.

It’s part of the Specialbuys range, meaning stock is limited and once it’s gone, it’s gone.

It may be worth ringing your local store ahead of time to check availability.

You can find your nearest Aldi by visiting www.stores.aldi.co.uk/store-finder.

This comes right after Aldi shocked shoppers by slashing the price of KitKat Mini Eggs to just 32p.

The festive treats, which usually sell for around £1.50 at supermarkets like Tesco and Sainsbury’s, were spotted on sale with a 75% off sticker.

The bargain was posted on HotUKDeals, with one shopper writing: “KitKat Mini Eggs priced at £1.29 with 75% OFF sticker.”

Elsewhere, consumer reporter, Lynsey Hope tested supermarkets’ own brand eggs to reveal the best chocolate on the market.

The winner “melts in your mouth” and isn’t from Aldi or Tesco.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

MORE WAYS TO SAVE AT ALDI

Unlike some major supermarkets, Aldi doesn’t offer a rewards card – but that doesn’t mean shoppers can’t save.

Every week the store releases a list of Specialbuys, which are unique bargain products you can find online at Aldi and in store.

The store releases a fresh range of deals every Thursday and Sunday, so be sure to check regularly to see what’s new.

Meanwhile, the store also regularly sells fruit and vegetables at highly discounted prices, as part of its ‘super six’ deal.

It also does weekly saving offers on typically pricey items such as meat and fish.
