A MAJOR road has been closed after a crash sparking chaos for thousands of commuters.
The road traffic collision happened on the A6 Leicester at around 6am.
It prompted a full closure from the Abbey lane roundabout to Thurcaston.
The force advised drivers to find alternative routes.
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “**Traffic Update** 0554hrs.
“A6 Leicester is currently closed from Abbey lane roundabout to Thurcaston road due to an RTC.
“Please find alternative routes. Updates will follow. Many thanks.”
The A6 is one of the main north–south roads in England.
It runs from Luton in Bedfordshire to Carlisle in Cumbria.
