LOVE Island star Michael Boateng has revealed he’s engaged.
The former police officer, who starred in the 2020 winter series, popped the question on Saturday.
He shared pictures from the big life moment on Instagram tonight along with an extract from Proverbs 16:3 that read: “Commit to the lord whatever you do and he will establish your plans.”
Michael has kept his relationship largely private since going public with his wife-to-be last summer.
It appears he asked for her hand by writing ‘will you marry me?’ on a dessert plate.
The couple hugged after she said yes and a final snap showed the future Mrs Boateng showing off her diamond ring while holding a huge bouquet of flowers.
Michael’s pals congratulated the happy couple with fellow Island Biggs Chris writing: “Jheeeez congratulations!!!”
Geordie Shore’s Nathan Henry said: “Congratulations [love heart emojis].”
Celebrity Big Brother legend Lateysha Grace said: “Awwwww congratulations both xxx.”
First appearing on our screens during series six – the winter series of 2020 – Mike found himself coupling up with four different women during his time on the show.
Arriving as one of the original cast members, he immediately paired up with Leanne Amaning.
While he was then stolen by bombshell Jess Gale, he would later recouple up with Leanne and remain with her for two weeks before she ended their romance.
He would then couple up with Sophie Piper, before ultimately Priscilla Anyabu, who would remain with him until they were dumped as a couple on day 41, just days before the final.
The pair remained together for 15 months, before ultimately splitting in July 2021.
In a chat on Capital XTRA, Mike blamed going from the quarantine of the villa to the Covid lockdown significantly impacted their time as a couple.
“We’re not together anymore. It was never really a bad breakup, in fact it wasn’t a bad breakup at all, we just had a mature conversation,” he said, noting “nothing bad happened and noone cheated”.
“Lockdown was tough for us, didn’t really have a lot of space away from each other, we had a grown up conversation, like adults, saying in order to save our friendship, maybe we have to take time away as a couple,” he explained.
“You never know what’s going to happen in life, but for now yeah, Mike is single.”
Mike would later return to the franchise, appearing on spin-off series, Love Island Games, last year.
Entering as a bombshell on day 10 of the competition, he partnered Love Island USA star Imani Wheeler, before UK favourite Liberty Poole.
He didn’t last long though and was dumped just three days after entering the show.
