Katie was currently living in a council flat, and decided to give the place a revamp using her DIY skills.

In the clip, she shared how she transformed the lounge area of her new home using a buy from B&Q.

The room was large and freshly painted with grey paint.

The main wall had the TV pushed against it and was lacking some detail, so she decided to give it a cheap and cheerful makeover.

Katie used the B&Q Cheshire panelling packs to create a stunning feature wall.

She revealed she used three packs, which are £18.97 each.

The panelling kit comes with moulding MDF panels to make the process easier.

But Katie had some issues along the way.

She revealed she learned how to do it through watching other people’s TikTok videos but came across an issue.

The DIY whizz said her walls were not straight, which made the process a little more tricky to complete.

However, she saved herself time and energy by using No More Nails glue instead of nailing the wooden panels into her wall.

“Yeah stick it down with No More Nails,” Katie said in the comments.

She then painted the panelling with a B&Q paint in the colour Cancun.

She showed off the transformation and her lounge instantly looked more elevated.

How to do your council house up on the cheap

  • Take inspiration from pricier shops and head to B&M, Home Bargains for interior decorations.
  • Head to YouTube for easy to follow tutorials on how to decorate rather than paying for professionals.
  • For a quick glow-up for your floors or anywhere with tiles, opt for stick-on vinyl to save on costs.
  • A lick of paint does wonders to make a room feel brand-new.
  • Switch out kitchen cupboard knobs for modern ones instead of buying brand-new cupboards

The clip went viral on her TikTok account @homeat46, where she regularly documents transforming her council flat.

People were quick to take to the comments of the post, congratulating Katie on her new lounge.

One person wrote: “Aww that’s lovely.”

Another commented: “Looks nice.”

“We’ve just bought this,” penned a third.

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “I did this to my daughter’s room! So worth the money.”

“Makes such a difference doesn’t it?” said Katie.

“I’ve just done a bedroom, and if your walls aren’t straight it’s quite tricky to get all the gaps filled, looks great though if we don’t look too close,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “How do you even start with doing this?”
