A POPULAR Cuban-themed bar and restaurant has suddenly closed after just two years, leaving loyal customers shocked and disappointed.
Cubanos, located on Nether Hall Road in Doncaster, first opened its doors before Christmas in 2022, bringing a lively mix of Latin American cuisine, cocktails, and salsa nights to the city.

The venue, known for its vibrant atmosphere and murals by local artist Keith Hopewell, announced its closure in a brief message shared on the Facebook page Eating Out in Doncaster.
The statement read: “Cubanos Cocktail and Rum Bar is now closed.
“Thank you for your support – we appreciate every one of you!”

Cubanos replaced the former San Remo Italian restaurant, which closed in 2021.
It quickly gained a strong following, offering burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, and burgers alongside an extensive selection of cocktails and rums.
The sudden closure has left many customers gutted, with one Tripadvisor reviewer previously praising it as “a great atmosphere” with “delicious food and margaritas.”
Fans of the restaurant took to Facebook to express their disappointment over its sudden closure.
One user wrote: “That’s a shame, the owner is a nice guy.”
Another commented: “A real shame that people didn’t support a local business and would rather eat at plastic chain restaurants in depressing retail parks.”
A third person shared their confusion, saying: “Aww no! I messaged them about a booking a couple of weeks ago, and they said they were closed for refurbishment?”
Store closures are affecting not only restaurants but also major retailers.
Superdry, which has 84 locations, will close its Eastgate Shopping Centre store in Basildon this Saturday, with another closure in Bradford to follow soon.
This comes just a month after shutting its Aberdeen branch, where staff directed customers to shop online.
Kaspa’s Desserts in Basildon shut earlier this year due to landlord disputes, while a Homebase in nearby Vange also closed last month.
Meanwhile, the Nisa Local chain, which operates over 1,300 stores, is also feeling the pressure as the retail landscape continues to shift.
