Embattled Gino D’Acampo receives support from major channel despite misconduct allegations as ITV axes him for good

GINO D’Acampo has received backing from one channel who have refused to take him off the airwaves despite concerning allegations arising about the TV chef.

The TV star came under fire after being accused of “sexually inappropriate” and “intimidating” behaviour on the sets of his programmes.

Gino D’Acampo, 48, told ITV News he “firmly denied” all the allegations, which he called “deeply upsetting”.

In the wake of the scandal, ITV opted to axe him from the air for good by pulling all planned re-runs of his shows as well as shelving plans for future new series of his shows, including Family Fortunes.

However, UKTV have opted to not follow suit and have seemingly stood by embattled Gino despite the claims.

U&Dave screened back-to-back repeats of Gino’s Italian Escape over the weekend, days after news of the scandal broke.

Listings for next weekend also currently have multiple episodes of the star’s cooking show lined up with the broadcaster remaining defiant in its broadcasting decisions.

On the flip side, ITV dropped planned repeats of Gino’s Italy: Secrets of the South which were set to air at the weekend on ITVBe.

The Sun has approached UKTV for comment.

The backing will be positive news for Gino with a source close to the star previously telling The Sun that despite the claims, he had no plans to step back from the showbiz world.

The allegations against Gino are understood to go as far back as 2009.

One woman, who has been called Hannah to protect her identity, told ITV News Correspondent Sejal Karia the TV chef made inappropriate sexual comments to her on a job in 2011.

She alleged he told her he would “like to turn me over and f*** me up the **** against the kitchen counter”.

The woman said there was “a ripple of laughs” while nervous crew members hid behind cups of tea.

Hannah said she felt “shock” and “horror“, while seeing his “aggressive” behaviour as a “kind of power play”.

Dozens of allegations have been made against the TV chef, spanning over 14 years – and ITV News has seen evidence at least one production company was aware of concerns made by crew.

D’Acampo says he “firmly denied” all allegations made against him.
