CORONATION Street actor Alan Halsall has admitted that he did receive special treatment from I’m A Celeb bosses in scenes that were never addressed on-camera.
The star, famed for his role as Tyrone Dobbs on the ITV soap opera, revealed that there was a huge difference for him when it came to meal times on the hit reality programme.
In news that could come as a shock to fans, Alan was actually eating entirely different food provided to him by producers during the camp’s evening meal.
Whilst his fellow celebs were all chewing down on the same meal, Alan was allowed to tuck into something wholly different.
As a result of his vegetarian status, Alan revealed on Instagram that his meal times were different to that of his jungle pals.
With the cast always provided with mean on-screen, one of Alan’s followers questioned whether he had been forced to give up his vegetarian ways.
They said: “Did you give up being veggie whilst you were in the jungle?”
Alan then clarified: “No they send a veggie equivalent.”
He then followed up to add: “Generally something very bland, plain tofu… etc.”
None of Alan’s veggie meals were seen on-screen with his eating habits unaddressed on the programme.
Following his exit from the jungle, Alan appeared to hint at a feud with his co-star Dean McCullough as he appeared to suggest he was “performing” for the cameras.
During an interview on ITV2 spin-off show, Unpacked, host Sam Thompson asked Alan if there were any “performers” in the camp.
Hinting at a feud, the Coronation Street star said: “Dean! He’s got a story written all over his face.
“It’s ridiculous!”
During their time in camp, Dean was seen snapping at Alan.
It came after the soap star woke up the DJ to ask him to help with chores.
