Amy James-Kelly, 30, first joined Coronation Street in 2013 when she made her debut on the cobbles.

She starred as Maddie Heath when her character first appeared just before Christmas that year.

The character was introduced as the love interest of Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent).

However she was later killed off when an explosion from a fire at the Victoria Court sent her flying across the street.

However, the actress has now joined the high-profile BBC series, Industry.

She will return to the airwaves for the fourth instalment of the hit TV drama.

The former soap star will play the role of a newly promoted government minister named Jennifer Bevan who is part of the Labour government.

Before this, the star had huge roles in films such as Military Wives alongside Dame Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan.

She joins the series alongside Netflix star Kiernan Shipka, 25, who is best known for her roles in Riverdale and Ryan Murphy‘s Feud: Bette and Joan.

The star also had the title role in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and recently starred alongside Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis in the acclaimed film, The Last Showgirl.
