JonBenét Ramsey letter ‘naming killer’ could be ‘deflecting cops away from real suspect’ as Netflix director slams claim

THE letter addressed to JonBenét Ramsey’s father that claims to identify his daughter’s killer could be a means to deflect investigators from the real suspect, a retired police lieutenant told The U.S. Sun.

John Ramsey, 81, made headlines a week before the 28th anniversary of his 6-year-old daughter’s unsolved murder when he disclosed he had received a puzzling letter that is now being reviewed by a private investigator.

Ramsey said he has received dozens of fresh tips related to the case due in part to the release of the new Netflix docu-series, Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey.

One letter in particular from an unknown woman claiming her ex-husband was behind the killing raised eyebrows.

The note, Ramsey told the Daily Mail, read, “My ex-husband’s the killer, and I’ve kept this inside for as long as I can – please, please call me.”

Ramsey said he called the number the woman provided, but she never responded.

Since then, he said he has shared the letter with a private investigator.

‘IT FEELS LIKE IT’S WITHIN REACH’

A retired lieutenant from the Loveland Police Department in Colorado questioned whether the letter arose because of the popularity of Netflix’s docu-series or Boulder police’s “optimistic” statement about the case heading into the New Year.

“I’m wondering if the letter recently received is the result of the Netflix documentary or if it’s generated in response to Boulder police saying that they feel that they think they might crack the case in 2025,” Bob Shaffer, the ex-commander of Loveland police’s criminal investigations unit, told The U.S. Sun.

Police sources in Colorado told the New York Post in early December that they are “optimistic” about JonBenét’s case heading into 2025.

“I’m not sure what it will take to bust it wide open,” one of the sources told the outlet.

“But it feels like it’s within reach. We’re hoping for 2025: this is our year.

“It hasn’t been as aggressive as anyone had hoped, but now there’s a lot of pressure to get this solved.”

A second source told the outlet that the new Boulder police chief, Steven Redfeam – who took over the force in early 2024 – has turned his attention to the case.

“He wants it solved and off the books, and he’s assigning officers and resources to solving the murder, which has been a black mark on the Boulder PD,” the source added.

“We f**ked the case up from the start, and now, with new blood, we can finally fit it.”

‘PREEMPTIVE STRIKE’

Shaffer believes the letter could have been a way to distract Boulder police from their investigation.

“From a law enforcement perspective, it seems a little too convenient that this letter shows up when Boulder PD said that they think they might crack the case in 2025,” the 37-year police veteran told The U.S. Sun.

“It’s my speculation that Boulder has some new DNA avenues to pursue that they think may reveal the killer or point them in that direction.

“If someone thought that those results might point towards them, the letter might be a ‘preemptive strike,’ so to speak, that would be creating an alibi or deflect away from the Boulder police investigation.”

Despite the perspectives from law enforcement officials, Joe Berlinger, the director of the latest Netflix docu-series, believes the supposed new lead was overblown.

“Mr. Ramsey did an interview and he just mentioned this in the context of ‘year, we’ve gotten some recent activity because of the documentary – for example I’ve got a letter on my desk right now,'” Berlinger told The U.S. Sun in an email.

“He didn’t mean it to be like it was a great lead.

“They just don’t know and not sure who is looking at it to verify it.

“They tried to call her, she left a number. The number didn’t go through.”

Berlinger added, “So, he’s told people that the family has gotten a lot of these now and this may be something maybe not.

“But it’s not to get excited about right now.”

WHO KILLED JONBENÉT RAMSEY?

On the morning of December 26, 1996, mom Patsy Ramsey let out a harrowing scream from the first floor of the family’s home in Boulder, Colorado, when she found a rambling two-and-a-half-page ransom note on the staircase toward the back of the house.

The note, addressed to John Ramsey, stated a group of individuals linked to a foreign faction had kidnapped their daughter and demanded $118,000 in exchange for the girl’s safe return.

“She was just screaming,” Ramsey previously told The U.S. Sun.

“She’d found this note on the stairway and then went and checked JonBenét’s room, and she wasn’t there.

“I read the note as quickly as I could, and Patsy was standing by the phone, so I told her to call the police.”

Several hours went by without any word from the supposed kidnappers or any sighting of JonBenét.

Boulder police conducted extensive search efforts in the area and thoroughly combed the Ramsey residence for clues.

A desperate Ramsey and a friend eventually searched the home themselves, going down to the basement and opening an unfinished wine cellar.

There, Ramsey found the body of his daughter with a rope tied tightly around her neck.

At the end of the rope was a broken paintbrush that investigators determined came from Patsy’s art set.

Evidence indicated that JonBenét had been sexually assaulted and tortured.

The coroner who performed JonBenét’s autopsy determined the little girl died from suffocation in conjunction with forcible trauma to her skull.

JonBenét had an 8.5-inch skull fracture and several markings on her neck and hands.

Suspects investigated in the JonBenét Ramsey case

Child beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey, 6, was found dead in an unfinished wine cellar section in the basement of her family's Boulder, Colorado, home on December 26, 1996.

JonBenét’s parents reported her missing after mom Patsy found a handwritten ransom note on the staircase toward the back of the family’s home.

Hours passed without any sighting or word from JonBenét’s supposed kidnappers as Boulder police combed through the home and the surrounding area.

JonBenét’s body was eventually found by her father, John Ramsey, in the basement. A rope was tied tightly around her neck, and at the end of the rope was a broken paintbrush.

An autopsy determined the 6-year-old had been sexually assaulted and tortured.

In the decades since the unsolved murder, investigators have probed several potential suspects connected to JonBenét’s case.

List of suspects:

  • John and Patsy Ramsey: At the start of the investigation, police focused on JonBenét’s parents and her then-9-year-old brother, Burke. Boulder police believed Patsy wrote the ransom note at the scene after she allegedly became enraged that JonBenét wet the bed. Police alleged Patsy viciously injured her daughter in a fit of rage, causing her death and setting up the crime as a kidnapping. The parents were cleared when the DNA evidence found under JonBenét’s fingernails, on her clothing, and her underwear was linked to an unknown male. The DNA did not match John, Patsy, or Burke Ramseys.
  • John Mark Karr: In 2002, John Mark Karr, an elementary school teacher living in Thailand at the time, began communicating with an investigative journalist. Karr disclosed details about JonBenét’s murder that were not known to the public. With the help of journalist Michael Tracey, authorities arrested Karr in Bangkok and extradited him to Boulder. However, the case again hit a wall after Karr’s DNA did not match the samples taken from the crime scene. Karr’s estranged wife also provided an alibi, saying Karr was in North Carolina on the day that JonBenét was killed. Despite being cleared, Karr continued to claim he was with JonBenét when she died.
  • Gray Oliva: The U.S. Sun extensively reported how convicted pedophile Gary Oliva confessed multiple times to killing JonBenét in letters to a high school friend. Oliva was released from prison in January 2024 after serving less than eight years of a 10-year sentence for child pornography charges. In letters to high school friend Michael Vail, Oliva confessed multiple times to killing JonBenét, claiming it was an accident. Oliva was living in the Boulder area on and off at the time of JonBenét’s murder, police said. Despite his obsession with JonBenét, Olivia was cleared by DNA evidence.
  • Michael Helgoth: At the time of the 1996 murder, Michael Helgoth worked at a nearby auto salvage yard. Helgoth owned a pair of Hi-Tec boots that appeared to match a print left at the crime scene. He also owned a stun gun – a weapon investigators believe the murder suspect used on JonBenét. Private investigator Ollie Gray claimed Helgoth’s family owned a taped confession of guilt. Helgoth died by suicide in 1997. However, the DNA evidence found at the scene did not match that of Helgoth.
  • John Brewer Eustace: Investigators for JonBenét’s case traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1997 after learning that John Brewer Eustace had broken into a home, kidnapped, and sexually assaulted a 2-year-old toddler. When police searched through Eustace’s belongings, they uncovered a notebook of clippings about JonBenét’s case. However, he was eventually ruled out as a suspect after a “rock solid” alibi confirmed Eustace had been working at a factory on the night JonBenét’s murder occurred.

Kim Kardashian copies Bianca Censori with white tights, thongs, latex dresses and totally topless looks this season

KIM Kardashian is a bit of a copycat, it seems, with the SKIMS founder frequently wearing some outfits that are very similar to those worn by her ex-husband’s new wife.

Bianca Censori married Kim’s ex-husband Kanye West in 2022, just mere weeks after Kim’s divorce from the rapper was finalized.

When the Aussie model and architect married Kanye, many fans took to social media to say how she and her new husband’s ex-wife looked alike and had similar facial features.

Both women have dark raven locks, curvy figures, and facial features that could lead somebody to believe they might even be related.

Over the last 12 months, Kim has seemingly been taking inspiration from her ex-husband’s new wife, with the SKIMS founder often wearing similar looks to Bianca.

Kim has been dressing just like Bianca in recent videos and photos posted online, with fans quick to call the reality star out on this.

ONESIE OR TWOSIE?

Instagram/Kim Kardashian
Kim’s onesie looked very similar to one that Bianca donned earlier in the year[/caption]

Earlier in December, Kim took to Instagram to show off her figure in a white one-piece, which was insanely short and bared her thighs.

The onesie that Kim wore was almost identical to a one-piece garment that Bianca wore back in March of this year.

At the end of March 2024, Bianca was seen walking around the Oxnard mall after eating at the Cheesecake Factory with her husband.

For the outing, Bianca rocked the skimpy one-piece, with Kim seemingly copying this look many months later.

BALACLAVA BABE

Another recent copying incident was when Kim did a photo shoot in the woods at nighttime.

In the Instagram shoot, Kim could be seen rocking a teeny string bikini top and bottoms.

The minuscule two-piece was incredibly skimpy and left little to the imagination.

Finishing off the look, the mom-of-four wore a balaclava and some beige boots.

Fans thought that Kim’s look was scarily similar to an outfit Bianca once wore.

“Bianća has multiplied,” said one person underneath Kim’s post.

Bianca Censori and Kanye West's relationship

Bianca Censori was born on January 5, 1995, in Melbourne, Australia

Before her current full-time job, the 29-year-old started a jewelry company called Nylons after leaving high school.

After working as a student architect for three years, she completed a master’s degree between 2019 and 2020 ahead of moving to Los Angeles.

In a radio interview, a childhood friend of Bianca’s claimed that Kanye slid into her DMs on Instagram.

The rapper reportedly said, “Come and work for me.”

At which point she says the designer moved to LA to join his company Yeezy as the “head of architecture” – and has been since November 2020.

WEDDING BELLS

On Friday, October 6, 2023, The Daily Mail reported Kanye and Bianca wed on December 20, 2022.

The couple tied the knot under a “confidential marriage license” in the state of California.

The two wed in Palo Alto, California, according to the document.

The wedding came just one month after Kanye and Kim Kardashian finalized their divorce.

Another commented, “Kimca Censori,” as a play on words with Bianca and Kim’s names.

FAUX FUR AND FAUX PAS

But Bianca donned a similar look long before Kim did[/caption]

In November, Kim copied Bianca again when she stole the Aussie model’s style for a new advert for her brand SKKN.

For the sizzling campaign, Kim rocked some white tights and a fur coat – two garments that Bianca is very familiar with.

With SKNN being Kim’s own range, she will likely have creative control over the process of what she wears in the brand’s adverts – so fans were interested to see that she was “dressing like Kanye’s wife” once again.

SHEER COINCIDENCE?

Back in October, for her birthday, Kim showcased her hourglass figure in a tight nude leotard layered beneath a semi-transparent dress.

Just months before Kim’s sexy look, which might have been inspired by her ex’s new wife, model Bianca donned a nude one-piece for her attendance at the Prototypes Menswear show during Paris Fashion Week in June.

THE TIGHT IS RIGHT

In August, Kim once again seemingly mimicked Bianca’s personal style when she rocked a skintight bodysuit and some see-through tights.

“It’s giving Censori,” one person said at the time.

“I think Kim wore it because she is shading her,” someone else replied.

KOPYING AGAIN?

In March Kim couldn’t resist copying Bianca again[/caption]

In late March, Bianca, Kim’s daughter North, and Kanye were spotted out and about together in Los Angeles.

The model wore an oversized fur jacket, skintight black leggings, and matching pumps, and her hair was slicked back.

Then, just days later, Kim shared some sizzling photos of herself on Instagram where she appeared to copy Bianca again.

Going braless underneath a brown floor-length fur coat, Kim also rocked some skintight sheer leggings and some heels.

“She wanna be Bianca so bad,” one person wrote online.

Another then echoed: “This is desperate. Copying your ex-husband’s wife.”

Christmas recycling mistakes that could leave you out of pocket with £200 fines

A KEY part of Christmas day could turn into a costly error as councils crack down on waste management.

After everyone has excitedly torn into their Christmas presents, an easy mistake threatens to put a downer on the festive mood.

Hundreds of thousands of miles worth of wrapping paper ends up in landfill every year in the UK (stock)[/caption]

Brits who fail to dispose of their wrapping paper and other waste correctly risk facing fines of up to £200.

Are you sure you know what can be recycled and what cannot?

From wrapping paper to tinsel and gift tags, this is how you know what can be recycled to avoid unnecessary fines this year.

With Christmas being one of the country’s most wasteful periods, local councils will be paying close attention to improper waste disposal.

While each council will have its own regulations on recycling and waste disposal, there are some general tips that can help.

As the UK leaves around 277,000 miles of wrapping paper in landfills every year, per data cited by Nottinghamshire Live, here is how to know if you can recycle it or not.

You may think that all wrapping paper can be put in the recycle bin but that is not true.

For incorrect recycling, households can be fined between £60 and £200.

On the whole, if you can scrunch up the paper and it remains scrunched, you can put it in the recycle.

But, if any paper has glitter, foil, or cellophane on it, it cannot.

In order to avoid excess waste, if it is still in good nick, you can always reuse the paper either for other gifts or to cut it up, stick it on cardboard, and make gift tags for next year.

The same goes for tissue paper as it cannot be recycled due to its short fibres.

Large boxes and packaging should be broken down and any plastic, film, or polystyrene should be removed before being put in the recycling.

Christmas cards are also a huge waste problem in the UK with around one billion cards being thrown away each year, the equivalent of 33 million trees.

Like with wrapping paper, any cards with glitter, plastic film, or metallic effects and graphics are not recyclable.

Meanwhile, even if you do your best to recycle and find that the lid will no longer shut, this can also cause problems.

Due to altered collection times, some areas could fine you up to £150 for overfilled bins.

Those who have replacements for electronics must also be wary of how they dispose of their old ones and any batteries.

Neither of these items can go in the bin and should instead be put into local recycling bins specifically for these products.

The Sun previously reported on the five mistakes you could make this Christmas that could cost you as much as £5,000 in fines.

Inside Lily Allen’s close bond with her famous former step dad Harry Enfield – amid rumours she’s SPLIT with husband

LILY Allen’s life has been filled with moments of chaos, but she has enjoyed one constant in the bond she shares with her former stepfather, Harry Enfield.

Harry’s relationship with Lily’s mother, Alison Owen, began after Lily’s biological father left the family when she was just four years old.

The pair still share a strong bond[/caption]

According to Lily’s memoir, My Thoughts Exactly, Harry brought stability to a family that was reeling from upheaval.

He recently appeared on the BBC podcast Lily hosts alongside her close friend Miquita Oliver, sharing a funny anecdote from a Christmas they spent together with her listeners.

“Hello ladies,” he began. “Lily, do you remember that childhood Christmas when I placed the roasted turkey on the table, and you asked why on its beautifully brown skin, it had a tattoo?

“And I replied, ‘Be quiet child, or you’ll end up like him’?”

He then joked: “That’s right, I’m an ethical cannibal.”

In her memoir, Lily described Harry as being “successful and well off”, but most importantly, “kind”.

She also credited the comedian for creating a sense of normalcy for her at home during his five year relationship with Alison.

Although Alison and Harry split in 1996 and she moved out of his home with her children in tow, he always remained a figure of support for Lily.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2010, Harry reflected on the pressures she faced after rocketing to fame as a singer in 2006.

The frustrated parental figure told a reporter: “You have to do loads of interviews. It’s like what happened to Lily when she got famous.

“Suddenly Lily’s bloody everywhere and she’s doing every bloody interview, because you’re told to.

“You’re young and you do it. It’s only later you get a bit savvy.”

He seemed to feel for Lily with the pressures she experienced as a pop singer, adding that he is grateful his own children were shielded from the spotlight.

Harry and Lily were seen going for a stroll together during lockdown in 2021, which also showed how close they still were, almost three decades after his split from Lily’s mum Alison.

There are also rumours that Harry’s famous ‘Kevin the Teenager’ character was inspired by Lily and her brother, Alfie.

Perhaps Harry’s presence will provide some further stability in Lily’s life as she is currently said to be going through a “split” with her husband, David Harbour.

It was reported that Lily had been spotted on celebrity dating app Raya this week, after months of her living apart from David.

An insider told the Sun: “Lily and David have barely been together for the past three months and have been living separate lives.

“When she was in London for the Pillowman, David was spotted at one performance in July before Lily was left by herself.

“In her downtime, Lily would be with mates in London or her kids. When she went back to the US with them, there was no sign of David.”

I won £7.6MILLION on the lottery – but it didn’t change us and we still check the price of socks

A MILLIONAIRE couple who won their loot in the lottery decided to give most of it away – so much so that they still check sock prices.

Ray Wragg, now 86, alongside his late wife Barbara, won the National Lottery back in Sheffield in January 2000, but how they spent their £7.6million is even more remarkable.

The couple spent the next two decades donating to various institutions in their local area[/caption]

Their nearly two-decade spending spree saw them transform into local Sheffield philanthropists, and their generosity even took them to Buckingham Palace.

At the time, Ray had no idea what to do with the news, but his first decision was to practically quit his job as a roofer, which forced him to commute four hours away.

Recounting that magical moment, Ray said: “I retired that Saturday night in some respects.

“I didn’t know what to say but I’d never have said ‘stuff your job’ or anything like that. I’m not that kind of person.”

After spending some of the winnings on a £52,000 white Range Rover and a cruise, the couple decided to do something a bit more charitable.

Over the next two decades, they gave most of the money away to charities.

Speaking on it now, Ray said the winnings changed their lives but not who they are as people.

The winner said: “I was working, Barbara was working, the kids were working. We were all right.

“Like other families do, we saved up. It changed our lives but not us as persons.

“We’ve had a fantastic time and helped a lot of people.

“That’s stood us in good stead. I still look at the price of a pair of socks you know!”

CHARITY ON A WHIM

One of their first major donations was a new bladder scanner for Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital.

This was along with the further gifting of funds to Weston Park Hospital where their daughter had been previously treated for Ewing’s sarcoma.

They gave £12,000 to allow World War Two veterans to return to Monte Cassino in Italy in 2004.

Some other notable beneficiaries included Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, the Make a Wish Foundation, Whirlow Hall Farm Trust, the Meningitis Trust and Help The Aged.

How to enter the National Lottery

Tickets for the National Lottery can be bought online and in stores, but the path to winning millions isn’t easy.

Players have to pick six numbers from 1-59, or can select a lucky dip option to have the numbers given to them.

A Bonus Ball is also drawn in Lotto but the player does not select a Bonus Ball when you play, as the aim is to match it with one of the six numbers you do pick.

There are two Lotto draws a week – one on Saturday at 7.45pm and one on Wednesday at 8.00pm.

If you are playing online, you just need to select the relevant day. If you take out a subscription you’ll play the draws you specified every week until the subscription ends.

Players need to specify how many weeks in advance you want to play, up to a maximum of four.

It is therefore possible to enter up to eight consecutive draws if you play on both Wednesday and Saturday.

Then all that’s left is to pay for the ticket, and it costs £2 to play.

Other philanthropic deeds included the purchasing of 30 television sets for local hospices so that each child could watch TV in bed.

Another time, Barbara wrote the Royal Hallamshire Hospital’s breast clinic a £5,000 cheque on a whim when she spotted a donations jar in the reception area.

In 2002, they received a special trophy from Camelot, as well as invitations to Buckingham Palace and the Pride of Britain awards.

They met several celebs, too, including Richard Branson, Princess Diana‘s former butler and the Coronation Street cast.

Barbara passed away from sepsis in 2018 at the age of 77.

She had previously stated that their winnings were “too much for two people”.
