Why Prince Harry should be ‘very nervous’ about unpleasant note to charity boss going public & danger he faces revealed

PRINCE Harry’s Sentebale row continued yesterday as he was accused of “forgetting the rules governing a charity apply to him”.

Journalist Sir Trevor Phillips — who broke the story of the Duke’s exit — also warned Harry against “hand-to-hand combat” with its boss Dr Sophie Chandauka.

Meanwhile, an insider at Sentebale said the Duke of Sussex should be concerned about what may be revealed about his dealings with Dr Chandauka, who he has accused of “blatant lies”.

Sources said Harry should be “nervous” that an alleged unpleasant note to her could be made public.

Last month, he quit the Lesotho-based HIV and Aids charity he co-founded in 2006 in memory of his mother, Princess Diana.

Fellow royal patron Prince Seeiso of Lesotho and the rest of the Sentebale board also resigned after falling out with Zimbabwe-born lawyer Ms Chandauka, 47.

She has accused Harry, 40, of bullying and harassment.

She also said donations had fallen since Harry and wife Meghan quit as working royals — as their brand was now seen as toxic.

In an interview on Sky’s Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips last weekend, she claimed Harry allowed his Netflix show to wreck a fundraising event and said he authorised the release of damaging news about her.

Sir Trevor, writing for The Sun on Sunday said: “I can vouch for her integrity, and her commitment can hardly be questioned.

“Her own family is Sentebale’s third largest donor.

“And whilst the Duke will no doubt have had weapons training in his Army career, I would strongly have advised against hand-to-hand combat with her.”

Sir Trevor added: “My guess is what has happened is that the Duke brought in the high-flying lawyer in the hope of strengthening its governance and raising more American money.

“Harry, understandably, wanted to grow Sentebale.

“But running a not-for-profit with hundreds of employees, spending money from major corporations, demands a different kind of leadership.

“And like many in his class he may have forgotten that the rules governing a charity have to apply to him too.”

The Charity Commission watchdog is investigating.

In a statement, Harry said: “We fully expect the inquiry will unveil the truth.”

NOISY CLASH HURTS CAUSE

By Trevor Phillips

In Africa, they say that “when two elephants fight, it’s the grass that hurts”.

The noisy clash between Prince Harry and Sophie Chandauka, the woman he himself brought in to lead his African charity Sentebale threatens to bring a world of pain to the thousands of young Africans who depend on its support and services.

Millions have lost children, parents, brothers and sisters in the HIV/AIDS epidemic that still ravages Southern Africa.

The war inside Sentebale will have added public scandal to personal tragedy.

Two weeks ago, the Prince announced that he was resigning as a patron of his own charity, citing deep differences with Chandauka.

Last Sunday, she replied with a fiery interview on my Sky News show, accusing the Prince himself of harassing and bullying her and others who worked for the charity.

Three days ago, the Charity Commission announced an investigation into the organisation, plunging it into further uncertainty.

There is no doubt that both Harry and Sophie are deeply committed to the cause.

They just have diametrically opposed views about how to go about its work.

In 2006, then 19-year-old Harry, alongside Prince Seeiso of Lesotho launched Sentebale, to offer advice, education and jobs to families ravaged by the HIV/AIDS epidemic which had been plaguing Southern Africa for over two decades.

His celebrity status helped to raise – he claims – some £12 million.

Chandauka joined the board in the charity’s early years.

Back then, the Zimbabwean-born corporate lawyer helped to build its reputation and funding through her network of African contacts. Sentebale flourished.

She stepped down in 2015 believing that the work was in good hands.

Thereafter, as a wise woman once said, recollections vary.

Harry’s supporters claim that in 2023, Chandauka elbowed her way back into the no-longer-royal circle and then proceeded to wreck the organisation’s finances.

She says that she was brought back by Harry’s team to help arrest the drain of donor funds caused by the Prince’s split from the royal family.

Speaking for the first time publicly last week, Chandauka made three damaging allegations.

First, that Harry treated the charity as his own personal fiefdom, run by his courtiers, and that he saw himself as above the rules that normally govern UK charities.

Second, that he agreed in theory to move the running of Sentebale’s affairs to Southern Africa, where its activities take place, but that when confronted with the consequence – that he would no longer be able to exercise day-to-day control – he balked.

And finally, the most damaging of all was her suggestion that the Sussexes used Sentebale as a prop in their film deal with Netflix.

The Duke and his team deny all three allegations, and insist that any fault lies entirely with the chair, complaining that she spent money unnecessarily on expensive consultants.

Who do I believe is in the right here?

There is no doubt that the Prince has a deep affection for Sentebale’s work, and that without his presence it would never have grown to become the multi-million pound outfit it is with hundreds of employees doing great work.

But I have known and worked with Chandauka for several years.

I can vouch for her integrity, and her commitment can hardly be questioned : her own family is Sentebale’s third largest donor.

And whilst the Duke will no doubt have had advanced weapons training in his Army career, I would strongly have advised against hand-to-hand combat with her.

My guess is that what has happened is that the Duke brought in the high-flying lawyer in the hope of strengthening its governance and raising more American money.

Harry, understandably wanted to grow Sentebale to maturity.

But running a not-for-profit with hundreds of employees, spending money from major corporations demands a different kind of leadership to a small start-up.

And like many in his class he may have forgotten that the rules governing a charity have to apply to him too.

For the sake of those still suffering from the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the rest of us can only hope that the warring parties reflect on yet another African proverb which urges them to come together and talk: “In times of crisis, the wise build bridges, and the foolish build dams”.

Liam Gallagher hires fearsome US celebrity lawyer costing £1,000 an HOUR as star fights love child court case

OASIS star Liam Gallagher is forking out £1,000 an hour for a fearsome US celebrity lawyer in his love child court case.

Judith Poller — dubbed “Hollywood’s top troubleshooter” — will represent the rocker after his former lover demanded more cash.

Poller, who has represented film stars Scarlett Johansson and Drew Barrymore, has previously boasted: “My clients are high-end because my billing rate is high.”

And a source said: “She’s got the reputation of a Rottweiler-type lawyer.”

Poller will represent Gallagher, 52, in this month’s hearings in New York after Liza Ghorbani applied for more child support for their daughter Gemma, 12.

The singer, who has not met Gemma, reached an agreement on maintenance payments a decade ago but The Sun on Sunday revealed last month that Ghorbani, 50, is now seeking an increase.

Sources claimed it was felt that she was trying to cash in on the upcoming Oasis reunion tour, from which Liam is rumoured to earn £50million.

Poller has said of her work: “Privacy is a huge concern to celebrity clients.

“People are so interested in their lives, and the fact that they are going through it only makes them more interesting.

“I do everything from pre-nuptial agreements to paternity suits, divorce.”

Business magazine Forbes included her in its inaugural Top 200 lawyers list last year.

Poller was Marvel star Johansson’s attorney when she filed for divorce from her husband Romain Dauriac in 2017.

And she acted for Barrymore in her divorce from Will Kopelman in 2016.

Journalist Ms Ghorbani’s plea will be heard by Judge Jeffrey Pearlman in the New York Supreme Court on April 16.

A second, fuller, hearing has been scheduled for April 28 if the judge rules there is a valid case to be heard.

Liam previously appointed celeb lawyer Raoul Feldman, who has represented Mike Tyson, Frank Sinatra and Sir Mick Jagger.

New legal documents show he is now represented by Poller.

The Sun on Sunday approached her office for comment.

Russell Brand fears prosecution in US over ‘sex assault’ on film set as Warner Bros says they will release footage

RUSSELL Brand fears the possibility of prosecution in the US over an alleged sex assault on a film set, legal documents obtained by The Sun on Sunday show.

We can also reveal Warner Bros is willing to hand over outtakes and other footage from his movie Arthur after a woman claimed he attacked her on the set in 2010.

The US woman alleges Brand exposed himself to her in view of the cast and crew

The new twist emerged at a hearing in the New York Supreme Court last week, held before the British comedian and actor was charged on Friday with rape and sexual assaults against four women in the UK.

Brand’s lawyers in the US tried to suspend the woman’s civil claim against him, arguing he does not want to say anything in the New York matter that might incriminate him in the UK proceedings.

The US woman alleges Brand, 49, exposed himself to her in view of the cast and crew, and later that day followed her to a bathroom and assaulted her while she was working as an extra on the film.

She is suing Brand and studio Warner Bros. Both deny the allegations.

Brand said she was “unable to distinguish acting from reality”.

His US lawyers said in a written document seen by The Sun on Sunday that Brand had a “reasonable belief criminal prosecution is possible in the US based on allegations tantamount to criminal sexual misconduct occurring in the US, of which he has been falsely accused both by this civil Plaintiff and several others through the media”.

During the court hearing, Brand’s attorney Mark Cuccaro said the charges he faces in the UK could “overlap” with the US case.

He said the female accuser could claim the “corporate defendants (Warner Bros) were negligent” because of potential evidence they had seen indicating Brand had a “propensity to commit such acts”.

Mr Cuccaro added Brand is a “public figure, very publicly accused in the United States”.

Judge Shlomo Hagler rejected the formal request to delay the case and Brand’s lawyer withdrew it.

However, the judge put off Brand being asked to make a legal deposition in the civil case until October to protect his constitutional rights.

It also emerged during the hearing evidence will include around eight hours of outtakes and other footage from the filming of Arthur.

Patrick Lamparello, a lawyer for Warner Bros, said the company had “some hours of video outtake footage . . . four or five hours, it could be more, around eight”.

Brand was accused of raping and sexually assaulting two women in Los Angeles in a dossier published by the Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches in 2023.

His new life in Florida has been upended this week after London’s Met Police charged him with rape, indecent assault and sexual assault between 1999 and 2005. The charges relate to four separate women.

Comparable crimes in the US have led to high-profile defendants getting decades-long sentences.

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was jailed for 23 years in New York in 2020 for rape and sexual assault, and 16 years in LA on a conviction for similar offences.

Brand is currently living in Florida with his wife Laura.

I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile, but what I never was, was a rapist.

Russell Brand

He said he left the UK because he “personally experienced how the media, government and judiciary — if you suddenly become an inconvenience — will find ways to attack and shut you down”.

Brand has amassed an online following of millions and rebranded himself a spiritual influencer.

He was at a Republican conference last summer and recently at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

LA police said they do not have an open investigation into Brand.

On Friday night, the star defended himself on X, saying the law was being wielded as a “kind of weapon” against him and others.

Appearing to relax in a sun hat on a balcony in Florida, born-again Christian Brand said: “I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord.

“I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile, but what I never was, was a rapist.”

“I’ve never engaged in non- consensual activity. I pray you can see that by looking in my eyes.”

Arthur, also staring Dame Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner, was a remake of the 1981 film staring Dudley Moore.

It was released in 2011, while Brand was still married to pop star Katy Perry.

The Sun on Sunday contacted Brand’s US lawyers for comment.

EastEnders legend Nasty Nick accused of ‘going nuts’ at BGT star after she impersonated screen mum Dot Cotton at event

EASTENDERS legend John Altman was accused of “going nuts” at a BGT star after she impersonated his soap mum Dot Cotton.

Altman, 73, who played Nasty Nick, is said to have clashed with stunned Francine Lewis, 49, after an event.

She has affectionately mimicked actress June Brown’s character Dot for years, including in her 2013 BGT routine.

But it is claimed Altman became furious when she did it as they walked off stage at London’s Hippodrome while her son Jake filmed her.

She said: “I started to do Dot, and he literally went nuts. He went to me, ‘Delete that now’, and he pushed his hand towards me.

“I didn’t even have a phone in my hand. My son was filming, and you’d just see his arm flying towards me. My son was in shock.”

Francine went on: “I was taken aback by it. Because I’m not taking the mick, that’s my talent.

“June Brown’s a legend. I stayed like a lady, I never said a word, and I just walked away. I’m not gonna judge him. It doesn’t matter, it’s done. But you know, if I see him around, I’ll never say hello.”

Earlier, Altman said he and June — who died in 2022 aged 95 — “knew our characters so well that we just kept on improvising.

“The crew must have been looking around wondering where all the missing pages of script had gone!”

The actor, in EastEnders from the first episode in 1985, also revealed he is no longer in contact with his former castmates.

The Sun on Sunday contacted his rep for comment.

I know amazing Julie Goodyear & picture of her shocked me, but I’ve been even more upset by shameful reaction to it

I MET Julie Goodyear many moons ago when she was still starring as Corrie’s Bet Lynch.

On screen she was the Rovers barmaid, a force to be reckoned with, who often seemed indestructible despite all the heartache and trials she faced.

Julie’s husband Scott Brand has cared for her since she was diagnosed with the cruel, progressive disease[/caption]

Away from the camera I remember Julie’s amazing presence.

She was glamorous, sharp and quick-witted, all cleavage, fags and blonde hair.

So when I saw a photo of her this week sitting in a chair at home looking painfully frail, with barely any teeth, pulling at her tracksuit bottoms, I was shocked.

It was a picture that I wish I’d never seen. My first reaction was that the old Julie would have hated it.

But I then read the words that her husband Scott Brand had written alongside it when he posted it on social media: “Just got home with my lovely wife and we’ve had a fantastic day together. Thank you so much for all your birthday wishes from both of us.”

Act of love

It made me realise that yes, to us, who haven’t seen Julie every day, this picture may be a shock.

But to Scott — the man who has cared for the actress since she was diagnosed with dementia — it was simply a snap of her looking happy.

Looking at it again didn’t feel so intrusive.

I saw a wife, looking at her loving husband, smiling broadly after a day out for her 83rd birthday while he proudly took her picture.

It was a beautiful moment, but the backlash Scott has received is so ugly he has taken it down.

Which is so sad.

All those who attacked him should be ashamed of themselves.

People have accused him of somehow trying to cash in, but it was just a family snap on his Facebook page, not a paid photoshoot or contrived Photoshopped post placed by an influencer trying to make money.

Strangers have hit out, saying she wouldn’t want to be seen this way — but surely her husband of nearly 20 years knows her better than anyone else.

Instead, Scott should be applauded for reminding us that, celebrity or not, outgoing or not, leopard print or not, dementia can swoop in and seize any of us. At any time.

And it is a cruel, terrifying and progressive disease destroying memory and behaviour.

Carers and sufferers must battle through it together, they have no choice.

There are now more than 944,000 people in the UK suffering with dementia.

And one in 11 people over the age of 65 has it. Those numbers are increasing.

There are now nearly six million unpaid carers in this country. It is one of the toughest, most heart-rending jobs in the world.

It is a gruelling act of love and one none of us would ever wish to do.

But if we are lucky enough to love someone in life, it means that one day we could face doing exactly what Scott is doing now.

Tragically, with the rise in NI contributions hitting the care service, more of us could be faced with that task in the future as wage freezes and cuts lead to a shortage of carers.

What Scott really deserves is thanks.

By sharing this picture he has opened our eyes to a world of dementia that is so often, tragically, hidden away in an oddly shameful way especially when the sufferer is a celebrity.

He has bravely shown that although dementia is not a glamorous condition, there are still moments of happiness along the way.

I hope all those that slated him will now stop to think about all the unpaid carers who are devoting their lives to look after a loved one with dementia.

Often, they are trying their best to do the right thing and struggling in silence.

What they deserve is our thanks and support for everything they do — not our abuse.

Myleene’s basque-ing in sunshine

BASQUES are on trend.

I know this, not because I am a huge follower of fashion but because celebs are squeezing into them wherever they go, so that’s a sure sign.

KILLER MUM SO TRAGIC

THE tragic case of Joanne Sharkey has highlighted the true horror of what postnatal depression can do to a woman – and to a family.

Even though she killed her own baby, I pity her.

The tragic case of Joanne Sharkey has highlighted the true horror of what postnatal depression can do to a woman – and to a family[/caption]

In 1998 she gave birth to a boy called Callum, having kept the pregnancy a secret due to severe undiagnosed postnatal depression following the arrival of her firstborn Matthew two years earlier.

Sharkey then killed Callum and buried him.

She kept that horrendous act a secret – even from her husband, Neil.

The shock for her husband and surviving son must have been unbearable.

On Friday the judge took pity on her too, giving her a suspended sentence after she admitted manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.

To be so ill that you kill your own child is horrendous.

Keeping that secret for 25 years must have been a living hell.

SEXUAL VOYAGE

WHAT would you do if you were told you’re going to die early?

When Molly Kochan was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer at 42, she wanted to make the best of the time she had left, so ditched her husband and slept with 189 men.

Her story has just been released as new Disney+ series Dying For Sex, which is based on the podcast she recorded in the weeks leading up to her death.

That six-episode show was downloaded roughly FIVE MILLION times, which presumably means that although not everyone would have the courage to sleep around regardless of their health, many may secretly want to.

BURGER JAM SO WRONG

SO Stormzy has brought out a McDonald’s meal and now his ex Maya Jama has teamed up with Uber Eats to produce her own menu.

The Stormzy Meal features nine chicken nuggets, fries, barbecue dips, a Sprite Zero, and an Oreo McFlurry or apple pie.

While Maya is trying to put a healthy twist on her Uber menu, which includes a burger with . . . watermelon jam.

She praises it for its anti-inflammatory benefits. I am all for trying to eat healthily but I know which I’d go for.

Sweet jam on a burger? Sounds gross to me.

I DO wish the Wagatha Christie battle would end.

There was yet another hearing this week – three years on from the first one.

Becky Vardy is fuming because she has been told to pay 90 per cent of the £1.8million legal costs for Coleen Rooney’s legal team.

Becky says Coleen’s team “very substantially” understated the original £540,000 bill.

A judge has found no misconduct had been committed but, like a dog with a bone, Mrs Vardy is now appealing against the decision.

So that’s yet more legal bills being run up, and more lawyers laughing all the way to the bank.

More money than sense.

CAULI SNUB A FOLLY

I AM a sucker for a yellow label.

Who doesn’t love saving cash?

Which is why it seems bonkers that the cauliflowers in our supermarkets are being flown in from Europe – presumably costing a fortune – while British ones are being left in fields to rot.

Apparently it’s because ours are smaller, but who cares – most of the time we smother them in cheese sauce anyway.

And what an absolute waste.

If there is one thing that Trump’s tariffs have taught us, it is that there has never been a better time to buy British.

Size isn’t everything.

Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood launches astonishing attack on fellow judges – insisting he’s the only one that matters

STRICTLY’S Craig Revel Horwood has taken aim at his co-stars, insisting he is the only judge that matters.

The star, 60, blasted Shirley Ballas, 64, Anton Du Beke, 58, and Motsi Mabuse, 43, and claimed he alone was behind the show’s continuing success.

In a comment writing off original head judge Len Goodman and axed Arlene Phillips, acid-tongued Craig said: “There is no other judge. I created it. They are either dead or have been sacked.”

Playing up to his notoriety, he added: “I get booed heavily but I enjoy playing the villain.”

It came as uncertainty grew over the future of some of the long-standing stars on the show.

Craig, a Strictly veteran of  21 years, was pulling no punches on the first night of his UK tour, Revelations: Songs Boys Don’t Sing.

He joked that his comments about Len, who died in 2023 aged 78, and Arlene, 81, who was axed in 2009, and the later judges would help him sell tickets for the show.

Craig laughed: “We are going to be in the news. We need it as this is the beginning of the tour and we need to sell the tour.”

Craig, paid around £200,000 a year for Strictly, went on to rap the  Beeb for making him change the name of his third autobiography.

He was barred from calling it Strictly Confidential because it used the word Strictly and had to make do with In Strictest Confidence.

Cruel Craig has form for laying into  co-stars and in a book tour in 2018 he accused Strictly judge Tess Daly, 56, of asking  “dull questions”.

He also had a dig at Shirley’s breasts, saying: “I am not joking. Her boobs were  . . .  hanging out. It was not very, erm, Strictly.”

Last year, he admitted that he had toned down his judging style as it would not be allowed today.

He said: “I was really harsh 20 years ago. When I look back, I think, ‘Ooh, that’s cutting’.

“It would now be classed as bullying, and then I’d be cancelled.”

Meanwhile, professional dancers Gorka Márquez, 34, Nadiya Bychkova, 35, and Johannes Radebe, 37, could be purged from the show.

They joined in  2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively.

It comes as younger dancers, including Jowita Przystal, 30, and Nikita Kuzmin, 27, have dazzled Beeb executives.

Spaniard Gorka, who is engaged to ex-contestant Gemma Atkinson, 40, has said he hates being away for his Manchester-based family for six months a year to film Strictly.

South African Johannes has been busy touring as the lead role in Kinky Boots The Musical and has been inundated with offers.

Ukrainian Nadiya, who split from fellow professional dancer Kai Widdrington, 29, last summer, has not been a major feature of the show in recent years.

A telly source said: “There could be a huge shake up.

“Gorka wants to spend more time with his family and really dislikes being away from his two young children.

“He’s  also had a series of injuries in recent years.

“Johannes has become a huge breakout star in his own right and has received some huge, lucrative work offers.

“Basically, that  means he might not have time for Strictly any more because it just doesn’t make financial sense.

“Nadiya hasn’t lasted long in the competition in recent years and wasn’t given a partner at all a few years ago, so it might be that she has come to the end of the road.

“The Strictly troupe is constantly being reviewed as there is always fresh blood and new talent to replace the fading stars.

“It’s a two-way street as well because some of the dancers are ready to move on.

“None of them took part in the recent Strictly tour. They  pursued their own projects instead.”

A BBC spokesman said last night: “We will announce the pros for 2025 in due course.”
