He and his lawyers at a tax tribunal tried to stop his anonymity from being lifted and said he was told the scheme was approved by the taxman.

Yesterday, after he was named in public court documents, Dettori, 53, said he was “working hard to unravel the mess that I have been put in”.

He originally brought the legal case against HMRC after he was rejected for some deductions in income tax.

Judges had ruled his identity could be kept private but media organisations and HMRC challenged the anonymity order,.

After the lifting, the Italian said: “A few years ago, I employed the services of professional specialist tax advisers to look after mine and my family’s financial affairs.

“A structure was created and I was told that it had been approved by HMRC.”

He added: “My former advisers have since been dismissed.”

HMRC said: “We welcome this decision, which represents an important win for the principle of open justice.”

Coleen Rooney reveals first thing husband Wayne said to her as they enjoyed phone call after her I’m A Celebrity success

COLEEN Rooney has revealed what the first thing her husband Wayne Rooney said to her when she left the jungle as runner-up.

Mum-of-four Coleen came in second place on the ITV reality show – falling just shy of being crowned the champion to McFly singer Danny Jones.

And the moment she left the camp, the first person she called was her footballer husband, Wayne.

Coleen said that Wayne told her how proud he was of her, as they enjoyed their first phone call after not speaking for weeks while Coleen tackled the jungle.

She added: “I spoke to him as soon as I got in the car.

“Obviously once you get out it’s all chaotic. Obviously my mum, dad and the two younger kids were there, then Wayne and my two older ones at home. It was harder for them to come out of school.

“They’re older, it’s more serious. So we took the decision to keep them in school. The little ones, obviously it’s easier. They’ve brought work away with them.”

Coleen continued: “As soon as I came out I phoned home. They’ve all had a gathering in the house and watched it together. I have friends and family and the kids.

“They did say they weren’t going to school tomorrow because the mum was in the final. I don’t know what school’s going to say about that but, you know, obviously they haven’t come all the way to Australia so maybe they do deserve a day off.

“Wayne just said how proud he was. In the letter I got he said he’s never missed me as much – and I can understand that because we’ve not spoke.

“We’ve been apart for weeks and weeks on end, but we speak a number of times a day, we FaceTime. So to not have that communication, it’s been tough.

“Obviously if anything drastic happens I would like to think they would have told me. But not keeping up to date on the kids’ school and football… I’m so involved in all that back home. That was hard.”

I’m A Celeb runner-up Coleen also says she considered quitting in the first week as she sobbed over her kids in camp.

In scenes not shown on TV, she cried when looking at her luxury item – a pillow with a picture of her four sons and footie legend husband Wayne.

But her strong-minded nature set in and helped her battle through to Sunday’s final, when she lost out to McFly‘s Danny Jones by just over ten per cent of the 10million votes cast.

Coleen, 38, said yesterday: “In that first week, I did wake up one morning and obviously I’d been given the pillow that I was sleeping on.

“I looked and I’d seen Wayne and the kids, and I had a little cry and thought, ‘I don’t know whether I can go all this way’. And that was only week one.

“But then I soon snapped out of it and went and done the washing up, and collected the wood and did whatever I had to do and it was fine. I got on with it.”

She added: “I’m quite strong-minded.

“Even though I’m quiet, I battle through things.

“I just think, ‘Come on Coleen, you’ve said you’ll do it, so just do it’. I do snap myself out of things really quickly.”

Coleen was in floods of tears again when her two youngest lads, eight-year-old Kit and Cass, six, surprised her in the Aussie camp last week with her mum Colette McLoughlin, 62.

But Plymouth Argyle boss Wayne was cheering her on from home amid his hectic fixture list, while her eldest lads – Kai, 15, and Klay, 11 – also stayed in Cheshire.

Xing will now be given a bye so he progresses to the second round without having to pot a ball.

O’Sullivan’s decision to withdraw comes just 24 hours before he was scheduled to play.

He has not played since his first round exit in the UK Championship against Barry Hawkins, who reached the final.

The Rocket appeared frustrated during the match as he punched the table, but praised his opponent following the defeat.

He said: “Barry played a good match and deserved his win, so I have to give all the credit to him.

“He played well, was solid and took his chances.

“I’m just enjoying playing, that’s the important thing. I try to not look back on it and on to whatever the next event is.”

O’Sullivan, 48, could be deciding to keep fresh for the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship, which takes place from December 18-20.
