Scientists discover the secret of the female orgasm – and reveal how to climax every time

BRITISH scientists believe they have solved the mystery of the female orgasm – and say the key is not to over-think it.

Psychologists at the University of Essex reckon a hidden sixth sense called “interoception” is critical.

It is the ability to tune into your own physical sensations like heartbeat, breathing and touch.

Women who scored higher on this were more likely to climax from sex, had orgasms more often and were more sexually satisfied.

Polling suggests women are half as likely to orgasm as men – known as the orgasm gap.

Dr Megan Klabunde said: “Our study demonstrates that women need to get out of their heads and into their bodies in order to have more frequent and satisfying orgasms.

“Orgasms are more frequent and satisfying when a woman is able to focus on how her body is feeling.

“Better understanding the process could boost relationship satisfaction for women and their partners.”

Orgasm is harder and less satisfying for women in partnered sex

Dr Megan KlabundeUniversity of Essex

In the study, published in the journal Brain Sciences, 316 women aged 18 to 69 answered questions about their sex lives and physical and emotional self-awareness.

Interoception was rated based on the ability to hone in on physical sensations and react to them while blocking out distractions.

The higher a woman scored on interoception, the better she rated orgasm satisfaction and frequency whether alone or with a partner.

Sex experts say women are more likely to achieve the Big O if they are relaxed and happy, while mental state is less important for men.

To increase their chance of hitting the spot, they should try to block out distractions or worries about how they look and focus on physical feelings.

YouGov polling in 2022 found just 30 per cent of women orgasm every time they have sex, compared to 61 per cent of men.

Dr Klabunde’s study found orgasm was 20 per cent more likely solo than alone.

Man’s needs may distract from woman’s pleasure

She added: “Our findings demonstrate that orgasm is harder and less satisfying for women in partnered contexts.

“Solitary sexual activity allows for a woman to more easily concentrate their attention on specific bodily sensations without distraction.

“Partnered sexual interactions, on the other hand, involve additional emotional and social complexities that may make it more difficult.

“Attention may be split or diluted if a woman feels simultaneously compelled to attend to both her own sensations and those of her partner.

“It is important for women and their partners to trust the woman’s internal bodily experiences during sexual encounters.”

SIR Keir Starmer today stared down NIMBYs as he announced huge new housebuilding targets for townhalls across the country.

The mandatory thresholds will force some councils to accelerate development by more than 1000% in a bid to bring the total number of new homes in England to 370,000 a year.

PM to seize control of building rules to get wannabe-homeowners on ladder

HOUSING STUMBLE

Rayner struggles to explain how housing plans will cope with new migrants

On a visit to a construction site in Cambridgeshire today, Sir Keir declared that the dream of home ownership must be a “top priority”, above nature and the environment.

The PM said: “For years, we have had not enough houses being built.

“That means that individuals and families don’t have the security that they want.

“We are determined to break through that, to do what’s necessary.

“Of course we want to get the balance right with nature and the environment, but if it comes to a human being wanting to have a house for them and their family, that has to be the top priority.”

Responding to the targets, Shadow Housing Secretary Kevin Hollinrake accused Labour of “declaring war on the countryside”.

He said: “What we do not welcome is the war on rural England he is pursuing.

“Following on the family farm tax, the withdrawal of rural services delivery grant, now we see the massive shift (to) mass-housebuilding in rural areas and on green belts.”

Mr Hollinrake also claimed that the “majority” of new homes will be built by immigrants.

He said: “Due to the loosening of restrictions on the visa requirements such as the salary threshold and the scrapping of the Rwanda deterrent, the majority of the homes they deliver will be required for people coming into this country rather than for British citizens.”

The PM will give town halls just three months to form a blueprint to meet the new targets.

Planners have been told to prioritise brownfield sites first for development, followed by ugly green land designated as “grey field”.

Local authorities that don’t have enough space will then be ordered to build on an area of greenbelt land larger than Surrey.

All new-builds will be required to follow “golden rules”, ensuring they come alongside necessary infrastructure, including nurseries, GP surgeries and transport.

A £100million cash injection will help pay to improve council planning departments, as well as funding 300 new planning officers, to speed up the construction process.

And Nimby town hall chiefs who frequently block new homes will see proposals bypass their desks and be sent to Whitehall for approval.
