Vauxhall Chevette dubbed’ The Vader’ goes on the market for eye-watering price after spectacular £200k revamp
A VAUXHALL Chevette from 1983 is up for grabs with a whopping £70,000 price tag.
The original all-black motor, dubbed The Vader, has undergone a £200,000 restoration and is now a one-of-a-kind.
‘The Vader’ is up for sale for £70,000[/caption] The all-black car is fitted with an Exon Racing C20XE 285bhp engine[/caption]With just 42,000 miles on the clock, the souped-up car has a carbon fibre trim, push-button controls and a digital display.
There is a raised Vader badge at the rear of the car.
It is fitted with an Exon Racing C20XE 285bhp engine mated to a Quaife sequential gearbox.
The car is listed with Arwel Richards at Iconic Auctioneers and it will hit the auction block February 22 at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry.
“The remarkable motor car on offer here owes its very existence nostalgia, generated from a fifteen-year-old’s first experience of going fast in a road-rally prepared Chevette back in the day,” states the listing.
“No ordinary undertaking, and with only a handful of specialist workshops with proven experience of combining precision engineering and design flair, the talented team at Retropower Ltd., of Leicestershire were duly commissioned.
“The 18-month transformation of a tired hatch-backed, 1983 Vauxhall Chevette L in faded yellow to the spectacular one-off motorcar we see today is breathtaking.
“The Chevette HSR enjoyed much success in Group 4 rallying in the past and its distinctive looks with a wide rear end tapering to a slightly narrower front was much admired.
“Project Vader was never intended to be some half-baked rally homage, but a new car, with performance to match its looks.
“The record of works is exhaustive.
“Taken back to its bare shell which was then braced the gearbox and axle tunnels were enlarged to house the upgraded mechanicals whilst the car was fitted with a triangulated cage, and the extra-wide GRP body-kit was extensively refinished for the perfect fit.
“One of Paul Exon’s highly rated C20XE Redtop engine, rated at 265bhp at the flywheel, was then mated to a Quaife six-speed sequential gearbox.
“The interior speaks for itself; the carbon fibre trim, push button controls and digital display has more than a hint of Knightrider.
“The attention to detail is exquisite, from the raised Vader badge at he rear to the subtly re-finished period Vauxhall emblem on the bonnet.
“The odometer currently reads some 42,000 miles which is largely immaterial in what is essentially a new car.
“The project took 18-months with an investment of close to £200,000 and the spectacular result is unquestionably unique in the proper sense of the word.”
The car is push button operated and has a digital screen[/caption] The driver can also make calls on the hands free device[/caption] The car is fitted with rally-style seats[/caption] It even has a vader badge on the back of the car[/caption] The interior is in great condition and it has less than 50,000 miles on the clock[/caption]World Darts Championship LIVE RESULTS: Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price feature TONIGHT , Luke Littler waits – updates

Harry Redknapp was over the moon… and now it’s straight to Cheltenham with The Jukebox Man
THE JUKEBOX MAN delivered us the perfect late Christmas present at Kempton.
We were over the moon with him after his win in the Kauto Star Novice Chase.
Harry Redknapp has a good one on his hands with The Jukebox Man[/caption]Leader In The Park took the opening handicap and to have a double on King George day really meant a hell of a lot.

The Jukebox Man just keeps impressing us and he has come out of the race bright as a button. He’s a bit stiff and sore in his heels but it’s nothing significant and he’s taken the race very well.
His jumping was so economical and he is really proving his versatility now.
I think he came into this season pigeon-holed as a real stayer that needed soft ground.
And now his two wins at Newbury and Kempton have proved how adaptable he is — the sky really is the limit.
We dropped him in a bit at Kempton stepping back up to three miles and he was always cruising. To be honest, there was never a true moment of worry.
I was over the moon for our jockey Ben Jones, too.
With any new job there is always a bit of scrutiny and added pressure, especially when you are riding the big names on the big day.
It hasn’t all gone perfect and plain sailing so far, but I wanted him as my jockey for a reason and he’ll go from strength to strength.
Crossing the line you could see what winning his first Grade 1 meant to Ben.
Harry Redknapp was over the moon too. He’s a pleasure to train for and he keeps finding these good horses so long may it last!
We’ll go straight to Cheltenham now with Jukebox.
Losing the two and a half mile race is a blow as it would be absolutely perfect for him but we will enter up in both the two mile and three mile races and see what comes our way in terms of ground and opposition.
I was at Kempton yesterday and saw Sir Gino blow the house down so let’s wait and see!
We’ll try and map a route to the Festival with Leader In The Park, too. If he can win another one he should get in the new novice handicap and he’s a horse we like.
He should have an exciting second half of the season now.
We have a strong team headed to Newbury today on Challow Hurdle day. The race put me on the map back in 2015 when the brilliant Barters Hill won.
Nine years later and IT’S HARD TO KNOW (2.55 Newbury) steps into Grade 1 company in the same race.
He’s actually a very well-named horse as we just have no idea how good he might be at the moment.
We’ve always liked him as he is so straightforward and easy to train.
He does his talking on the track rather than at home and there the best type of horses. He’s two from two over hurdles so we have to stick his toe into a race like this now even if it is a red-hot renewal.
I wouldn’t want to rule him out. He doesn’t have the sexy profile of some of them but his form keeps working out and he’s yet to put a foot wrong.
Paul Nicholls’ Regent’s Stroll will take some beating, and we know Dan Skelton thinks the world of The New Lion, but we will see where we lie after this and it will help map out the rest of the season.
HENRY’S FRIEND (2.20 Newbury) ran a blinder in the Coral Gold Cup last time.
He clattered a fence on the back straight and that more or less ended his chance so I was chuffed when he plugged on for fifth.
This is a bit of a drop in class and I would fancy his chances, he should run a big race.
The ground will be perfect and I think this is tailor-made for him.
THE GOOD DOCTOR (1.12 Newbury) is another with a big shout.
He’ll come on plenty for his run at Warwick where he finished like a train. We’ll ride him handy and this track will suit him.
AWAYTHELAD (3.10 Leicester) rounds off the day and softer ground will be in his favour.
He wasn’t at his best at Southwell last time but he’s capable of getting in the mix.

Which country celebrates New Year first and who’s last?
NEW Year is one of the most exciting holidays in the world, as people across the globe reflect on and celebrate the year that just passed.
However, not every country celebrates New Year at the same time as the UK. So which countries are the first and last to ring in the New Year?
Which country celebrates New Year first?
The UK sits on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) which is used as the internationally standardised time format.
In other words, GMT is the baseline time zone and other time zones are measured by how much they deviate from GMT.
Because of this, while all countries celebrate the arrival of the new year at midnight, it may seem as though they celebrate earlier or later than the UK.

Generally, Brits look to Australia as the first country to see in the New Year but there are several other countries which beat it to the punch.
Kiritimati Island – also known as Christmas Island – and a string of 10 other mostly uninhabited islands in the central Pacific Ocean will have been the first to ring in 2024.
Tonga, New Zealand and Samoa all celebrate the New Year, before Eastern Australia and then Central Australia.
Where will the New Year arrive last?
Generally, countries furthest to the west on a UK map will be the last to ring in the New Year.
Two uninhabited islands named Baker Island and Howland Island, southwest of Hawaii, will be the last to see 2025 in.
The USA is one of the last countries to celebrate the arrival of the New Year, with New York and Washington D.C. having to wait until 5am GMT to ring in 2025.
What time does New Year arrive around the world?
New Year traditions vary from country to country.
In London, the arrival of 2025 will be marked by an incredible firework show as people sing a rendition of Robert Burns’ poem Auld Lang Syne.
No matter what time 2024 arrives, countries all over the world will usher in the New Year with various traditions and celebrations.

Ruben Amorim increasingly concerned at Andre Onana with Man Utd boss plotting January transfer for new goalkeeper
MANCHESTER UNITED are looking to sign a new keeper, with young Belgian star Senne Lammens a target.
New United boss Ruben Amorim has become increasingly concerned with the performances of Andre Onana, who conceded directly from a corner in the 2-0 Boxing Day loss at Wolves.
Turkish international Altay Bayindir, who also conceded from a corner away to Spurs in the Carabao Cup, could leave Old Trafford in the summer for more first-team football.
So, although a new keeper next month is not a priority, Man Utd are considering their options, knowing they might have to strengthen in that area at the end of the season.
And they are looking at a potential move for Royal Antwerp star Lammens, 22, although he could cost up to £20million.
The Belgian Under-21 international arrived from Club Brugge in 2023 and has already attracted interest from Leeds.
But although he remains incredibly inexperienced, Man Utd believe he could be worth making a move for.
Onana’s displays continue to be mixed.
He cost £47m from Inter Milan 18 months ago but he cannot always be relied upon, as he proved at Molineux on Thursday.
His recent errors add to a catalogue of gaffes he has made since moving to Old Trafford.

Last season, his errors cost Man Utd in the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.
He also made mistakes in the Premier League that cost the Red Devils valuable points on the board.
United have also been linked with a move to bolster their attacking options in January.
Wolves forward Matheus Cunha is one reported target as he has impressed with 10 goals in the league this season.
However, the Brazilian has insisted he is “happy” to be at the West Midlands side.
Man Utd ratings vs Wolves
By Ken Lawrence
WOLVES landed a shock Boxing Day knockout as Manchester United’s struggles continued.
The 2-0 defeat means Ruben Amorim has won just two of the seven Premier League games he has taken charge of.
United find themselves 14th in the table and today were not helped by Bruno Fernandes’ red card and Andre Onana letting one in direct from a corner.
Here is how SunSport rated the performances…
ANDRE ONANA: 4
He needed to make an agile save from Jorgen Strand Larsen in the first half, but badly misjudged the flight of Cunha’s corner for the opening goal – his claim that he was obstructed by Matt Doherty was rejected.
LENY YORO: 5
Recalled but booked after only four minutes for a foul on Cunha, so he was walking on eggshells and was tested by Wolves throughout. Subbed just after the hour mark.
HARRY MAGUIRE: 6
The England defender did his best to keep United in the game when they were under pressure for long periods – at least he helped to stem the tide until the dying seconds and had a header on target in stoppage time.
LISANDRO MARTINEZ: 6
Teamed up well with Maguire to stop Wolves from winning this more easily, he stood his ground and produced some important challenges in the latter stages before Wolves caught him on the break with the last action of the game.
NOUSSAIR MAZRAOUI: 5
Tenacious and determined, but was one of several players given a torrid time by the best player on the pitch – Cunha.
MANUEL UGARTE: 5
Dispossesed too easily at times, struggled against a lively Wolves attack and was eventually taken off as one of Amorim’s subs following Fernandes’ red card.
KOBBIE MAINOO: 5
Looked a threat early on, created some good openings, but he was booked after the break as United looked short on ideas. Faded and was subbed.
DIOGO DALOT: 6
Brought a tremendous save from Jose Sa in the first half in what was a rare bright spot for United – but he had no major influence on a poor team display.
AMAD DIALLO: 5
Lacked awareness of his team-mates sometimes and looked a shadow of the player who turned the Manchester derby around less than two weeks ago.
BRUNO FERNANDES: 3
Sent off early in the second half for a second yellow after a challenge on Nelson Semedo, but the captain had cut a frustrated figure before that.
RASMUS HOJLUND: 5
Became visibly annoyed at times at a lack of service from his team-mates, he had no joy up front and was subbed with 10 minutes left.
