Greene King is giving away 100,000 free pints for 7 days this month – check the secret phrase to claim yours
“Good times are almost guaranteed – if only the unpredictable weather didn’t add a plot twist, turning a simple jacket decision into a classic British dilemma.
“We can’t guarantee the weather, but with our ‘When It Rains, We Pour’ promise, we’re encouraging people to embrace those April showers and make the most of every moment.”
The Greene King initiative is being promoted by Gavin and Stacey actor Larry Lamb, who describes a beer garden as a “sanctuary away from the chaos of every day”.
And while the famous saying may be “April Showers”, statistics found that the UK only receives an average of 11 days of rainfall during the month.
So fingers crossed that at least one of these falls over the next week or so.

Only 9% of people can see the colours in this mind-boggling optical illusion that reveals your hidden personality traits
THIS mind-boggling optical illusion is bound to get you scratching your head – especially since only 9% of people can spot the trick.
Everyone can see see the iconic painting in black and white and the one with diagonal lines going through it – but few can spot the actual colour of the latter image.

Only those with a genius IQ can solve the task of figuring out the pesky trick.
So focus hard in order to solve the classical art illusion which shows two differing photos with more in common than you think.
If you can figure out the illusion, and see where the actual colours are in the photo, well done because you are in the 9% of people who can see the trick.
But if you can’t see where the colour actually is, you need to concentrate and focus in on the details of the photo with lines on it.
Look carefully to figure out the clever distinction between the lines and the paint colour.
London-based illusion attraction Twist Museum displayed the bizarre phenomenon which puzzled visitors.
The Girl with a Pearl Earring exhibit is an example of “colour assimilation” – where viewing from a distance can make it seem like the original photo has been reprinted in colour.
If you haven’t figured out the answer, you may need to do some more brainteasers.
These puzzles are good for your brain power and can improve your vision and IQ.
According to studies, doing brainteasers often can train you r cognitive ability and eyesight.
Award-winning psychologist Dr Lalitaa Suglani even revealed how perception-based activities that engage the brain, like the image provided, can highlight different aspects of a person’s personality, including their emotional and mental states.
She said: “The way we interpret optical illusions often highlights how unique and subjective our perception is.”
How can optical illusions and brainteasers help me?
Engaging in activities like solving optical illusions and brainteasers can have many cognitive benefits as it can stimulate various brain regions.
Some benefits include:
- Cognitive stimulation: Engaging in these activities challenges the brain, promoting mental agility and flexibility.
- Problem-solving skills: Regular practice enhances analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Memory improvement: These challenges often require memory recall and can contribute to better memory function.
- Creativity: They encourage thinking outside the box, fostering creativity and innovative thought processes.
- Focus and attention: Working on optical illusions and brainteasers requires concentration, contributing to improved focus.
- Stress relief: The enjoyable nature of these puzzles can act as a form of relaxation and stress relief.
If you still can’t figure out the trick here, don’t worry.
The museum actually revealed the answers to its guests.
The museum said: “Look at the picture from a distance, it’s in colour right? Now look closer.
“Up close, you can see that the image is actually black and white. It has coloured lines on top of it.
“Housed in London West End-based multi-sensory illusion attraction, Twist Museum, The Girl with a Pearl Earring is an exhibit that displays two images of the same girl – one appearing in black and white and one appearing in colour.”
They described the shocking illusion and the differences between the two images, as well as the trick behind the illusion
“Up close, you can see that the image is actually black and white. It has coloured lines on top of it.
The museum explained why we think the photo with lines is coloured – even though it is black and white.
The shocking answer to the illusion therefore indicates that both pictures are in fact black and white, but the one with diagonal lines has coloured lines.
This makes the picture appear that is coloured, even though it is originally identical to the left image.
“From far away the colour of the black and white photo seems to shift towards that of the lines, tricking the mind into thinking it is a colour version of the same painting. Why does this happen?
“This is called ‘colour assimilation’. It’s not yet known exactly why this happens, but one explanation is ‘neural blurring’ in which brain cells average out the light signals that fall on them.”
Psychologist Dr Lalitaa Suglani also explained how our personality influences our pereception.
She said: “The way we interpret optical illusions often highlights how unique and subjective our perception is.
“This subjectivity is influenced by: Cognitive filters – our past experiences, cultural background, and learned behaviours shape how we see and process information.
“Personality traits – those with high openness to experience might find abstract illusions intriguing and are more likely to explore multiple interpretations.
“Cognitive biases – optical illusions can also expose tendencies like confirmation bias (seeing what we expect to see based on previous experiences) or even optimism/pessimism depending on whether someone perceives an illusion positively or negatively.”

Virginia Giuffre’s lawyer says ‘it’s a very bad situation’ after crash left Andrew & Epstein accuser with ‘days to live’
VIRGINIA Giuffre’s lawyer has said “it’s a very bad situation” after she claimed she had been given “four days to live”.
The mum-of-three, 41, who was sex trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and accused Prince Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was 17, says she is in hospital after a horror bus crash.

She shared a shocking picture of herself from a hospital bed to Instagram on Monday night, covered in bruises.
Virginia begged to see her children “one last time” and claimed to be suffering from kidney failure.
She wrote: “They’ve given me four days to live, transferring me to a specialist hospital in urology.
“I think it’s important to note that when a school bus driver comes at you driving 110kmh as we were slowing down for a turn, that no matter what your car is made of, it might as well be a tin can.”
Virginia said she was “ready to go” – but “not until I see my babies”.
She ended the post by thanking her followers for being a “great part” of her life.
Addressing the post on Monday night, Virginia’s lawyer said it was “a very serious situation”.
Brad Edwards, who represented Ms Roberts in her previous legal cases, said that they were “hoping for better news in the coming days” and that he hoped Ms Roberts would pull through with good medical care.
Virginia’s PR, Dini von Mueffling, added: “Virginia has been in a serious accident and is receiving medical care in the hospital.
“She greatly appreciates the support and well wishes people are sending.”
It’s not clear where or when the crash happened.
Virginia recently separated from her husband and claims she is now estranged from their three teen children.
It came after the mum-of-three underwent a lengthy legal battle with Prince Andrew, accusing him of sexually abusing her when she was 17 while she travelled with Andrew’s paedo pals Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
An infamous photo of the trio – which Andrew claimed he knew nothing about – showed the disgraced Duke grinning while gripping Virginia by her bare midriff.
Three years ago, he paid millions to the mum-of-three in an out-of-court settlement, while denying sexual assault accusations.
But Andrew was spared a humiliating court battle over claims he sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager.
The settlement marked the first time he had shown contrition over his relationship with Epstein and Maxwell.
He had previously defended his friendship with the paedo as having “seriously beneficial outcomes” away from the rape allegations.

Virginia first sued Andrew in August 2021.
It was the first time she had brought action against him after going public with the allegations in 2011.
She claims she was trafficked and forced to have sex with the Andrew for the first time at Maxwell’s house in London after a night out at the club Tramp.
Virginia also claimed she was forced to have sex with the Duke on at least two further occasions by Maxwell and Epstein.
Her legal team argued she was a “frightened, vulnerable child with no one there to protect her” when she was allegedly abused by Andrew, saying “no person, whether President or Prince, is above the law”.
She claims she feared for her life when she was allegedly forced to have sex with Andrew, who is accused of having been aware of her age and status as a “sex-trafficking victim”.
The Duke has ignored repeated calls to tell US authorities what he knows about paedo Epstein’s criminal behaviour.
In his notorious Newsnight interview five years ago, Andrew vowed to help the probe into Epstein and his warped madam Maxwell.
Who is Virginia Giuffre?

VIRGINIA Roberts - now Virginia Giuffre, 41, is an American-Australian campaigner and a prominent victim of the sex trafficking ring of Jeffrey Epstein.
She has made claims against Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, as well as Brit socialite Ghislaine Maxwell – Jeffrey Epstein’s ex-lover.
Giuffre alleged in court documents that she was procured by Maxwell, 63, the daughter of disgraced tycoon Robert Maxwell, as a teenage “sex slave” for Epstein.
She released a manuscript just hours before Epstein’s death, which added to more than 2,000 documents of a lawsuit pending against the former financier and his pals.
The legal documents were released in a defamation case involving Giuffre, who has claimed in court documents that Prince Andrew slept with her three times.
In 2019, Virginia Roberts has claimed that she had sex with Prince Andrew in a toilet when she was 17, after a night where he had allegedly been plying her with vodka in a posh London club.
On February 15, 2022, it was announced that Prince Andrew settled the lawsuit – sparing him a humiliating court battle.
It is hoped Andrew could unknowingly hold information that could lead investigators to the “last piece of the jigsaw” to expose the full extent of the couple’s twisted “sexual pyramid scheme“.
But the royal has remained silent – and claimed he knew nothing of Epstein’s vile crimes despite their friendship.
In his Newsnight interview, Andrew claimed he severed ties with Epstein in December 2010.
He said he didn’t see or speak to Epstein after they were pictured strolling through Central Park in New York City shortly after the paedo was released from jail for child sex offences.
But new emails between the pair emerged earlier this year from February 2011, two months after Andrew claimed they had ceased contact.
In one, Andrew wrote: “Keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon.”
Andrew has denied any wrongdoing and has denied allegations made against him.
Epstein took his own life in jail while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges in 2019.
Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring with him to sexually abuse minors.
