Anita Rani accused of faking plans to buy £850k home after marriage split as she appears on Escape to the Country

COUNTRYFILE star Anita Rani has come under fire from fans for ‘faking’ her interest in buying a new home.

The 47-year-old appeared on Celebrity Escape to the Country in a bid to find a new place to live away from Hackney following her marriage split.

A smiling married couple.

Anita explained: “All of a sudden I have this urge to be somewhere different and do somewhere different.”

She was seen visiting a number of impressive properties in Hastings and Rye before seeming to find her dream home in Dungeness.

Anita was blown away by the converted Scout Hut, which featured three bedrooms and appeared very keen to buy it.

But when she was told about the £850k price tag, Anita’s interest waned somewhat and she admitted she wasn’t sure she was ready to spend that much.

Those watching at home weren’t impressed with her u-turn and accused her of putting it on for the cameras.

One person wrote:  “There’s no way Anita Rani is interested in any of these homes shown. It’s all just for the programme.  The fake enthusiasm is nauseating.”

A second imitated her, commenting: “Great…great….great…..let’s buy it….

“Well what do you think?”…Mmm….maybe none of them???….or am I mistaken….”

“I’ve got a budget of £875k. House of her dreams is £875k. I don’t know if I can afford it,” remarked a third.

While a fourth added:  “Caught a bit of the celeb #escapetothecountry just now; all guests are doing it for the appearance fee. If they wanted to splash a million on a house they’d do it away from the telly cameras.”

Anita was married to tech entrepreneur Bhupi for 14 years after the couple met at a warehouse party in London and bonded over their shared love of music.

The couple tied the knot six months later in a three-day Indian wedding in 2009 which Anita had previously described as ‘bonkers’.

The Strictly star said: “We had 450 of our nearest and dearest in Bradford, which is relatively small for a Punjabi wedding.”

She had previously called being single ‘uncharted territory’ when the couple first split.

With their busy work schedules said to be a contributing factor, she moved into her former London flat purchased 20 years prior.

At the time she was juggling a jam-packed work schedule, which included the launch of her debut novel, Baby Does A Runner, about a British Asian woman in search of her identity, in July 2023.

When the news broke she told The Sun at the time: “It’s liberating that people know that I’m single now.”

“Not everything works out. Things come to their natural conclusion. That is absolutely fine.”

Your car could be towed away by council and sold off at auction under new plan – if you make one of these easy mistakes

UP to 150 cars could be seized and sold by the council every year under a new plan.

From April next year, Slough Borough Council in Berkshire will tow away cars with three or more unpaid parking tickets.

Drivers who have ignored three or more parking tickets will have their cars towed[/caption]

They are also allowed to remove cars that are causing an obstruction or pose a hazard.

The owners of the vehicles will be ordered to pay to recover their car, and if they fail to do so they will be sold at auction.

Paul Kelly, the council’s lead member for housing, highways, planning and transport believes the new scheme will raise £165,000 every year.

Around £150,000 of that will go towards running the scheme which was inspired by policies in London and the South East.

Pat Hayes, the council’s senior officer in charge of roads said: “You’ll have heard about difficulties getting refuse vehicles and fire engines to places in the borough,” he said.

“It’s good news in terms of keeping traffic moving, it’s good news in terms of safety and it’s good news in terms of parking fine recovery.”

Those using fake blue disabled parking badges could also be stung by the new rule.

Caravans, trailers and abandoned vehicles could also be towed.

This comes as drivers paid a record £620million in council parking fines last year.

And more than 1,000 tickets are dished out every hour.

With an average penalty fee of £60, the stats indicate more than ten million tickets were issued.

The 2023/24 total is a six per cent rise on the previous year.

Lambeth Council in South London had the highest revenue with £52.4million.

Brighton & Hove had the highest for a non-London council with £12.2million.

But the true total will be much higher as 42 of the 377 local authorities submitted their numbers too late to be included in the official analysis.

Cash raised from the fines goes towards running parking services.

ManchesterLeedsLiverpool and Portsmouth were all in the top ten of councils outside of the capital for the amount brought in from parking ticket fines.

LONDON COUNCILS

COUNCILS PARKING TICKET REVENUE IN 2023/24

LONDON COUNCILS:

  • Lambeth £52.4m
  • Westminster £40.6m
  • Hammersmith & Fulham £26.2m
  • Ealing £25.3m
  • Islington £24.0m
  • Haringey £20.3m
  • Newham £20.0m
  • Southwark £18.0m
  • Merton £17.9m
  • Camden £17.1m

NON-LONDON COUNCILS:

  • Brighton & Hove £12.2m
  • Portsmouth £9.6m
  • Manchester £8.5m
  • Leeds £7.3m
  • East Sussex £6.4
  • Essex £6.4
  • Liverpool £4.5
  • Leicester City £4.2
  • Lincolnshire £3.9
  • Bristol £3.4

Cllr Adam Hug, transport spokesperson for the Local Government Association, said: “Motorists can avoid fines by ensuring they observe parking and traffic rules that are only there to help all drivers get around and find parking safely, smoothly and fairly.

“Money raised from fines and on-street charges is used for running parking services, with any surplus spent on essential transport improvements, including fixing the £16.3 billion road repairs backlog, reducing congestion, tackling poor air quality and supporting local bus services.

“Beyond this, any surplus also contributes towards vital services such as cleaning our streets and improving them so they are fit for the future.

“If any motorist believes they have been fined unfairly, then they have the right to appeal against it.”

Emma Paton dazzles in bold, sparkly outfit live on Sky Sports for return of World Darts Championship after Christmas

EMMA PATON stole the show at Alexandra Palace as the World Darts Championship returned from its Christmas break.

The Sky Sports presenter was front and centre of the pre-tournament advertising, including one hilarious “marriage proposal gone wrong” skit made by Paddy Power.

And her popularity among darts fans has certainly not diminished during the tournament.

Paton, 30, was seen back on TV screens in a dazzling black dress which came with some glistening silver flowers.

Taking to social media, fans were loving the look.

One fan said: “Emma Paton. Deary me.”

A second said: “Emma Paton back on the telly today happy days.”

A third added: “Looking absolutely gorgeous!!”

Another said: “Is Emma Paton the best presenter on the old box atm??”

Today’s darts action has seen Damon Heta hit the tournament’s second nine-darter en route to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Luke Woodhouse.

Jonny Clayton and Stephen Bunting also won in their respective games against Daryl Gurney and Madars Razma.

The evening session see Gerwyn Price taking on Joe Cullen, with Peter Wright and Luke Humphries both in action later as well.

Paton made the move into presenting in 2019.

In an exclusive interview with SunSport earlier this year, Paton revealed some of the difficulties of working in front of a raucous darts crowd.

She said: “It is really loud. There are some occasions when it’s just a wall of noise.

“There are times when I actually can’t hear what Wayne Mardle, Mark Webster or John Part are saying. I can’t even hear the director in my ear.

“I just have to hope we are on the same page for running order and not too much has changed.

“Working with Wayne has helped me, he is someone who has always backs me. He’s one of those people who wants people around him to succeed.

“He’s like the Gary Neville of Sky Sports Darts. He’s so engaging and his analysis is second to none and his stories are ridiculous!”

AA reveal some of UK’s worst shopping centres for parking charges – is your local on the list?

“UTTERLY crackers” parking charges have driven shoppers away from high streets over the festive break, the AA has said.

Up to £26 for just a few hours is charged at city shopping centres across the country, its analysis reveals.

Pricy parking rates for various locations.
Some of the worst shopping centres for parking charges

The AA insisted these shocking fees, partly designed to encourage drivers to use Park and Ride and leave their cars on the outskirts, have hit retailers hard during the crucial festive shopping period.

Spokesman Luke Bosdet told The Sun: “In too many towns, parking costs aren’t just bonkers — they’re utterly crackers.

“The AA understands the need to encourage commuters and tourists to park on the outskirts to reduce pollution and congestion.

“Park and ride works very well in reducing inner city travel costs and hassle.

“But doing it on major shopping days doesn’t make sense. Retailers, for whom Christmas trade can be make or break, need support not having the carpet pulled from under them.

“A tenner for four to five hours parking, giving shoppers a chance to sit down and taste the Christmas fare, is a stretch in current times. But £15, £20, £25, what are councils and private operators thinking?

“The Government says it wants to rejuvenate town centres. The cost of shoppers’ parking is one of the places to start.”

The research found Cambridge’s Grand Arcade charges up to £26.40 for five hours.

Liverpool ONE costs £16.50 and Manchester’s Arndale Centre is £15.60.

A government spokesman said: “We will set out details on a private parking code of practice as soon as possible.”

Joanne Pearson, 38, and Teohna Grant, 24, were pronounced dead at the scene in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, on Wednesday.

Jazwell Brown, 49, of Santa Cruz Avenue in Bletchley, was today charged with two counts of murder.

One of the two women is understood to be his partner.

Brown has also been charged with the attempted murders of a young boy and a man in his 20s – both of whom were also rushed to hospital from the property.

He was also charged with one count each of possession of a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

A dog found “covered in blood” was taken to a vet, but miraculously survived the incident, according to Thames Valley Police.

Brown has been remanded in custody and will appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court tomorrow

Thames Valley Police said in a statement: “Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, a man has been charged in connection with a double murder investigation in Milton Keynes.

“Today Jazwell Brown, aged 49, of Santa Cruz Avenue, Bletchley, has been charged with; two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count each of possession of a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

“He has been remanded in custody and will appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

“The charges are in connection with an incident in Santa Cruz Avenue, Bletchley on Christmas Day.

“Despite formal identification not yet taking place, we can confirm that the women who sadly died in this incident are Joanne Pearson, aged 38 and Teohna Grant, aged 24, both of Milton Keynes.

“We continue to support the families at this difficult time, and our thoughts are with them.

“The families would ask for their privacy to be respected at this time.”

It comes after a neighbour told The Sun: “At around 6pm a lady came out on the balcony – she’s screaming, ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe’.”

The neighbour described how the young boy sprinted out the house and sought refuge with another resident on the estate.

He went on: “The dog ran out, covered in blood. Within minutes there were about 12 ambulances.”

Another shocked witness said medics treated a bloodied male in the street before taking him to hospital.

He added: “Paramedics were working on him and the other victims were covered in a white tarp.”

One neighbour, who asked not to be named, previously told The Sun: “It’s mortifying.

“I heard all the ambulances last night but you don’t expect anything like this to happen around here. And on Christmas day of all days.”

Locals have left floral tributes and teddy bears at the scene since the horror on Christmas Day.

Watch moment dad of sex abuse teacher Brittany Zamora’s 13-year-old victim confronts her & dubs her a ‘f***ing monster’

THIS is the unbelievable moment the dad of the sex abuse teacher Brittany Zamora’s 13-year-old victim confronts her – calling her a “f*****g monster”.

Vile Zamora, 33, was locked up in 2019 for sexually abusing a young boy who she had groomed via her school’s social media app.

An alleged illicit sexual relationship between a Goodyear teacher and her 13-year-old student started with a message on a school app[/caption]

Now a new bombshell documentary has captured the moment Zamora and her husband, Daniel, plead with the victim’s dad during a phone call to forgive the then-teacher and to not call the cops.

The victim’s dad initially speaks to Zamora directly in the bombshell footage, asking her: “What type of f*****g perverted person are you?”

He continues: “You are a f*****g monster.

“You are a pedophile and are a child molester.”

Zamora then proceeds to ask the furious dad if they could meet to talk about the abuse and if they could “settle” it “outside”.

The boy’s dad sarcastically responds: “Oh yeah, so I can give you a chance to do it to some other kid.”

He adds: “Ms Zamora, do me a favor, do not call me back again, do you understand me?”

The disgraced teacher then passes the phone onto her husband, Daniel Zamora.

In the footage he is heard begging: “God preaches forgiveness, man.”

The victim’s dad proceeds to slam the mad husband, labelling the sick teacher Zamora as a “f*****g monster”.

He said: “Listen to me, I am not gonna settle this out of court.

“There’s not enough money you could f*****g offer to me to settle this.

“Your woman is a monster. She’s a monster.”

Oblivious Daniel continues to try and defend his sexual abuser wife, continuing to say that she is a “great teacher” who “made a huge mistake”.

He appears to go as far as trying to justify her sickening behaviour, explaining that she got “invested” with her student and that she had been a great teacher in her five years in the role.

The boy’s distraught father responds: “Your wife decided to be a monster and prey on a child.

“She scarred my son mentally.”

The disturbing phone call occurred after the boy’s parents found disgusting text messages that indicated a sexual relationship had happened between the pair after they began monitoring his phone with an app.

Body cam footage of Zamora’s arrest is also featured in the documentary, alongside interviews with parents, witnesses and school administrators.

The victim had told investigators that he and the then-27-year-old teacher at Goodyear’s Las Brisas Academy Elementary School had sex numerous times in her car and classroom.

And an 11-year-old friend of the victim even acted as a “lookout” at times, according to the documentary.

Zamora also fondled the “scarred” victim in the back of her classroom as other students watched an educational video.

In one horrific text, the teacher told the teen: “Like you for real get sexier to me every day lol.”

Zamora pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with a minor and reduced charges of molestation of a child and public sexual indecency.

She was sentenced to 20 years in prison in July 2019.

The victim’s family filed a civil lawsuit against the school where the abuse had occurred as well as Zamora’s husband, claiming they were aware of rumors before the abuse was brought to light.

The suit also accused husband Daniel of failing to alert authorities after he discovered the abuse.

He settled for an undisclosed amount in 2019.

In May 2020, the former Arizona teacher filed for divorce against her husband, Daniel, less than a year into her sentence, relinquishing her rights to the family home and shared properties.

In the divorce documents, she wrote that “our marriage is broken beyond repair (“irretrievably broken”) and there is no hope of reconciliation.”

The pair had been together since they were 16 and he remained completely loyal to her throughout the prosecution.

It’s unclear whether Daniel Zamora knew the full extent of what was happening between his wife and the student prior to her arrest and conversations that included the victims father indicated that Daniel thought the relationship wasn’t physical according to AZCentral.

Mr Zamora was never charged for crimes related to the case, yet he remained by his wife’s side even after she admitted to having sex with the boy in court.
