BULLSEYE is on target to get a super celebrity series — with the likes of Emily Atack and Peter Kay topping the wish list of contestants.

Bosses are delighted at the public reaction to them rebooting the cult game show this Christmas with Freddie Flintoff taking over the hosting role made famous by the late Jim Bowen.

Darts sensation Luke Littler will also guest star[/caption]

They have yet to name the date the show, also featuring darts sensation Luke Littler guest star.

But a TV insider said: “ITV would be crazy not to ride the wave of nostalgia that comes with brining back a much-loved show like Bullseye.

“A celebrity version is a no brainer.

“They want to target the right kinds of celebrities — people like Emily who viewers can imagine joining them down the pub for a pint, a game of darts and a good laugh. Peter is also a fan of the show and though he doesn’t take part in many telly programmes these days, they reckon he might make an exception

“What happens next depends on the reaction to the festive special — but it’s already looking like the comeback will be a big hit.”

The Sun exclusively revealed ITV were bringing back the show, partly as a result of the increased interest in darts after Luke reached the finals of the world championships in January, when he was just 16 years old.

We also confirmed earlier this month that producers would be bringing back the speedboat, often wheeled out as first prize on the original show.

Contestants will also receive the traditional bendy bully, tankard and Bullseye branded darts.

Bowen — catchphrase “Super, smashing, great” — hosted it from 1981 to 1995 and was watched by up to 20million viewers.

ITV declined to comment last night.
