BRITS are being paid over £80,000 to move to a picturesque mountain region – but there’s a 10-year catch.
The northern Italian region of Trentino, where the Dolomites meet the Alps, has suffered a decline in its population over the last few years.

In an attempt to repopulate the area, the government is offering a whopping sum of £80,000 to Italians – and others interested in the scheme – to relocate.
The project has received more than £8million in funding and is projected to revitalise the area, which is currently overrun with abandoned and run-down houses.
Not only will participants be offered a lump sum of cash to move but they will also be handed over £16,000 to help with the purchase and renovation of a property.
But there is one very big catch.
Residents must commit to living in Trentino for 10 years – or agree to rent the house out for the same amount of time.
Those who fail to comply with the rules may be forced to return their funding.
This comes just days after Penne, Italy announced it will be selling homes for under a £1.
Buyers could enjoy both the sea and mountains if they pick up a beautiful house in the stunning location.
Penne started selling its abandoned homes for the rock bottom price in 2022.
The town, which lies between the Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso mountain range, began this amazing deal in an attempt to stop its plummeting population numbers.
Six homes have been sold since 2022, mostly to Italians.
Buyers also would not have to pay a huge deposit on the €1 price tag.
The only guarantee required to secure one of these homes is that the buyer must renovate the property within three years.
These deposits are returned to the buyers after the works on the home are done.
But Brits looking to move abroad for more sunshine and a quiet life could pick up a bargain soon.
The next “handful” of homes will become available “in the next couple of weeks”, the mayor of the small town revealed to CNN.
