CINDY Beale is pushed to the edge as she’s blackmailed over her affair, leading to some explosive consequences next week in EastEnders.

With the truth on the brink of exposure, Cindy scrambles to keep her secrets under wraps – but has she done enough to outsmart her blackmailer?

Meanwhile, Peter Beale (Thomas Law) and Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) continue to argue at No.45.

But things continue to sour between the pair as they continue to argue about recent events.

And Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) tries to talk to Cindy about Lauren, before the Beale family sit down to a family meal.

On Christmas Eve, fearing for her future, Cindy devises a shocking plan that leaves her family in disbelief.

Hoping to gather his entire family on Christmas Day, George Knight (Colin Salmon) extends an invitation for Cindy and the Beales to join them at The Vic for Christmas dinner.

But as the festive day unfolds, Cindy’s world is rocked once more when she receives another piece of damning information.

Elsewhere, Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) and the other market traders get a shock when the wrong calendar arrives.

Yolande (Angela Wynter) continues to shut out Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) and Denise Fox (Diane Parish).

But then she feels guilty when Patrick points out that she forgot it’s the anniversary of his son’s, Paul’s death.

Later, the residents of Walford gather in the Square for the choir service.

Meanwhile, Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) is jealous of Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) and Sharon Watts’ (Letitia Dean) cosy display.

And Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) continues to shut out the world at No.55.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Best soap affair love triangles

LOVE triangles are a fundamental part of soap-land, but which ones have become the most iconic?

EASTENDERS

Bradley/Stacey/Max: Stacey Slater began an affair with boyfriend Bradley Branning’s dad Max in 2007.

Despite their romps, Stacey still married Bradley, but their deceit came out in an iconic Christmas Day episode that year.

Grant/Sharon/Phil: Heading even further back in Walford history, EastEnders fans were gripped in the 90s as Sharon Watts had a one-night stand with her brother-in-law Phil Mitchell.

Sharon confided in best friend Michelle Fowler – not realising it was caught on tape – and her husband Grant eventually found out and played it in front of everyone at the Queen Vic.

Syed/Amira/Christian: Syed Masood was engaged to Amira before realising he had feelings for another man, Christian, which he confessed to him on his wedding day.

A devout Muslim, Syed refused to admit his true sexuality and went ahead and married Amira anyway, but when they returned, the two men started an affair before being caught in the act by Amira.

CORONATION STREET

Shelley/Peter/Lucy: Peter Barlow took the concept of a love triangle and ran with it in Coronation Street – extending it to bigamy.

He was in a relationship with Shelley Unwin but started dating Lucy Richards, and quickly married her after she fell pregnant with his son, Simon.

But it didn’t stop him also marrying Shelley, but he was eventually caught when Lucy turned up in Weatherfield and the two women confronted him.

Ken/Deidre/Mike: Back in 1982, Deirdre Barlow started sleeping with her husband’s nemesis Mike Baldwin in secret, before confessing all a year later.

When Mike turned up at the marital home, Deirdre was being throttled by her husband who then kicked her out, but years later they reconciled.

Maria/Aidan/Eva: In 2017, Aidan Connor started sleeping with girlfriend Eva Price’s best friend, Maria Connor.

Eva eventually found out and she decided to take revenge by faking a pregnancy, spending his money and planned to confront him on their wedding day.

But she had a change of heart when a remorseful Aidan confessed, and decided to marry him anyway, only for Maria to arrive and expose her fake pregnancy.

EMMERDALE

Ross/Debbie/Pete: Debbie Dingle found herself torn between two brothers, Ross and Pete Barton in 2015 in Emmerdale.

She eventually decided to marry Pete but yet again, a soap wedding day was ruined when the groom learned of his bride’s betrayal via a recording played at the wedding.

Chrissie/Robert/Aaron: Robert Sugden was married to Chrissie White and all seemed well – until he began a steamy affair with Aaron Dingle.

Robert’s ex Katie Sugden almost exposed the affair – but fell to her death before she had the chance.

However, a guilty Aaron eventually cracked and told Chrissie about the affair – after which she announced it to the whole pub.

On Christmas Day, while visiting her dad’s grave, she is overwhelmed with joy when Piper runs over to her, having been found by Vinny and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).

But, the situation quickly spirals out of control.

As Christmas Day dawns, Marlon is in for a shock that could change everything.

Also in the Dales, Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) is at his wit’s end after being caught between Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) and Brenda Walker’s (Lesley Dunlop) endless bickering at Heath’s memorial concert.

And things heat up on the ITV soap between Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), adding more drama to the mix.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to steam from 7am on ITVX.

Most devastating soap deaths

SOAP viewers are frequently left heartbroken after watching some of their favourite characters bite the dust.

Here is a list of the most devastating deaths that have taken place in soapland over the years.

EASTENDERS

Barry Evans – Evil Janine (Charlie Brooks) lured her trusting fiance to Scotland for a quickie marriage after learning he was dying.

Her plan to inherit Barry’s fortune was thwarted when Barry told her that the doctors had mixed up his medical files.

Furious that she was no longer set for a windfall, she pushed Barry off a cliff after telling him their love was “fake”.

Bradley Branning – Bradley was accused of killing Stacey Slater’s rapist Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) after he punched him twice on the night he died.

He was spotted in the Square by a police woman who chased him up a fire escape.

Bradley lost his balance and tragically plunged to his death.

CORONATION STREET

Tina McIntyre – Tina was getting it on with Peter Barlow – despite him being married to Carla Connor.

When she threatened to reveal the truth, Carla’s brother Rob got into a physical altercation with her.

Tina lost her footing and fell off a balcony – then warned Rob she was going to tell the cops he pushed her.

In a panic, Rob brutally clobbered her over the head with a metal pipe.

Molly Dobbs – Molly was one of the victims in Corrie’s 2010 tram crash, alongside Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold).

Married to Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Molly had been having an affair with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in the months before her death.

This resulted in the birth of their son, Jack (Kyran Bowes), who was named after Jack Duckworth.

As fate would have it, Kevin’s wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) was by Molly’s side in her final moments.

Sally was stunned as Molly confessed Kevin was Jack’s father, before dying of her injuries.

Vera Duckworth – Having appeared regularly in Corrie since the 1970s, there was no denying Vera Duckworth was an iconic character.

Alongside her husband Jack, the pair formed one of the soap’s most beloved couples.

Viewers were heartbroken when Vera was killed off in 2008, being discovered having passed away peacefully in her chair.

Liz Dawn, who played Vera, made a brief return two years later for Bill Tarmey’s exit as Jack.

Paul Foreman – Fans were heartbroken when Paul Foreman succumbed to his illness after battling motor neurone disease.

Introduced in 2018 as David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) cellmate, he later embarked on a romance – and marriage – with vicar Billy Mayhew.

The MND storyline was announced in 2023 – with the expectation it would result in the character’s death.

EMMERDALE

Sarah Sugden – After the family got into financial problems, Sarah’s son Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) decided to make some quick cash from an insurance company by setting fire to the Sugden barn.

He didn’t realise his mum was inside the building, and she got trapped in the blaze.

Mark Hughes was killed by a falling wall, Archie Brooks was burned by jet fuel, Elizabeth Pollard was killed by debris and newcomer Leonard Kempinski died in a car crash caused by the crash.

Five other non-recurring characters from the village also died.

HOLLYOAKS

Tracey Connelly could soon be released from prison[/caption]

The 17-month-old suffered barbaric injuries at the hands of his mother and her lover before she left him to die.

Connelly was recalled to prison in September for a breach of her licence conditions – the second time she’d been put back inside.

Her case has been referred to the Parole Board for a fifth time, reports the MailOnline.

If Connelly’s appeal is rejected she could be held in prison for up to two more years.

A source told the Mail: “Connelly believes the Parole Board will rule in her favour.”

Her legal team will reportedly insist she is not a danger to the public.

Connelly was recalled in 2015 after selling nude photos online.

She was then recalled again this year just over two years after last being released.

She is subject to 20 licence conditions, including having an electronic tag, disclosing all her relationships, having her internet activity monitored and obeying a curfew.

A spokesperson for the Parole Board said: “We can confirm the parole review of Tracey Connelly has been referred to the Parole Board by the Secretary of State for Justice and is following standard processes.

“Parole Board decisions are solely focused on what risk a prisoner could represent to the public if released and whether that risk is manageable in the community.”

Baby P – real name Peter – was killed in 2007. It later emerged the authorities missed 60 opportunities to save him.

Connelly pleaded guilty to causing or allowing the death of a child the following year.

Her lover Steven Parker was locked up for a minimum of 12 years in 2009 for torturing the tragic tot.

His brother, Jason Owen, received a six-year jail sentence for allowing Peter to die.

Rio Ferdinand tells Man Utd chiefs to be ‘brutal’ with the ‘s*** players’ and ‘get them the f*** out quick’

RIO FERDINAND has demanded that Manchester United get the “s***” players the “f*** out” of the squad.

The former Red Devils defender has insisted that the club needs to be brutal with the playing staff.

Ferdinand has claimed the club needs a similar attitude with the playing staff[/caption]

Ferdinand, 46, is hopeful that the ownership takes the same attitude with the underperforming stars as they have with directors.

His X-rated rant has come following the decision to axe sporting director Dan Ashworth after just five months.

He said: “Confusion is the first thing that comes to mind.

“I just hope that they’re this brutal as they have been with the staff that have been there for years and that they’re culling.

“I hope they’re this brutal with the s*** players that are there.

“If there are any s*** players that are there, and ones that have either been there too long or the ones that just aren’t good enough, be as brutal as they’ve been.

“Get them the f*** out quick.

“I hope they’re like that. For better or worse, at least they’ve made a bloody decision.

“That’s the way I think about it. But you look at the things that are going on.

“I think there’s a lot of noise around the club.

Inside Man Utd chaos amid Ashworth departure

THE blame game has another victim as things go from bad to worse at Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s first sporting director, Dan Ashworth, arrived in the summer and is gone before Christmas.

SunSport exclusively revealed last month that there was trouble at mill.

That the new senior management team were already blaming each other for the mess the club were in.

Chief executive Omar Berrada and Ashworth were trying to wash their hands of it all, claiming they had arrived too late after serving their gardening leave.

New part owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe said making decisions was all down to them. Meanwhile, Jason Wilcox thought it was all a mess under previous boss Erik ten Hag but was part of the team that encouraged him to stay after every other candidate ran for cover.

There is word Ashworth did not favour appointing his successor and new head coach Ruben Amorim, preferring an English manager with more experience in our game. Perhaps that was why ex-England gaffer Gareth Southgate’s name was always mentioned after they worked together at the FA.

Either way, Saturday’s showing against Nottingham Forest, after their second-half capitulation at Arsenal a few days previously, proved too much.

“Ticket price are now going up, there’s been laying off of 250 plus staff and again, they’re very definitive.

“They’re like, ‘We’re doing this. We don’t care about the noise’.”

Ashworth left the club after showdown talks with the club locked in a blame game for the poor start to the season.

Manchester United announced the sacking with a blunt 53-word statement and insisted it was a “mutual decision”.

Gary Neville slammed the statement as “not a good look” in his own brutal rant.

The Red Devils’ shocking start to the Premier League campaign saw the end to Erik ten Hag’s reign as manager.

The Dutchman was axed after the defeat to West Ham in October and then replaced by Ruben Amorim.

Since the Portuguese coach was hired results have continued to be inconsistent.

His first game ended in a 1-1 draw against Ipswich before victories against Bodo/Glimt and Everton.

However, the club is now winless in their previous three games with the latest ending in a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.

Luigi Mangione, 26, charged with murder of CEO Brian Thompson after being caught at McDonald’s

LUIGI Mangione has been charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

The 26-year-old was arrested on Monday at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania after five days on the run.

A member of staff phoned cops after noticing a man who looked similar to the person of interest eating at a table.

Mangione was then detained by surging cops who arrived at the McDonald’s store.

The suspect was asked to pull down his mask as police are said to have instantly believed they found the right man.

New York City Police Department first launched an investigation into the murder of Thompson, 50, after he was gunned down on Wednesday.

The top CEO was shot multiple times from close range before being left to die on the streets of New York outside of a Hilton hotel.

Mangione had managed to make it just 280 miles since fleeing from the crime scene, cops believe.

What we know so far…

  • Luigi Mangione charged with murder of Brian Thompson
  • A person of interest was arrested at McDonald’s with a ghost gun, silencer, and the same fake ID used by the killer at a NYC hostel
  • He had a handwritten manifesto on him that slammed healthcare companies for putting profits above care, sources said
  • The arrest comes after police found the assassin’s backpack at Central Park and discovered Monopoly money inside
  • Photos showed the suspected killer smiling as he pulled down his face mask to flirt with a hostel receptionist
  • An expert said the killer’s gun malfunction may have been ‘for show’ and linked to a secret message on bullets
  • The shooter milled around the entrance for minutes before sneaking up behind the CEO and unloading a barrage of bullets into his back and leg, eerie surveillance revealed

The 26-year-old, said to be from Maryland, was found with a ghost gun similar to the murder weapon and documents that appeared to be linked to the killing, cops say.

One handwritten document is said to have indicated “motivation and mindset”, according to police.

The manifesto reportedly said: “These parasites had it coming.

“I do apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done.”

A note also saw him reportedly admit that he acted alone and was self-funded, cops who saw the document told CNN.

He also had a fake ID on him similar to what the killer is said to have used before shooting Thompson.

Mangione was taken to Altoona Police Department shortly after.

He held a sombre expression as he was marched into Blair County courthouse by cops for a preliminary arraignment last night.

He was later pictured inside the station wearing a dark blue long sleeve top and jeans.

Cops first charged him with five crimes separate from the murder.

These included forgery, carrying a gun without a license, false identification to law enforcement authorities, and tampering with records or identification.

He is yet to officially answer to charges or enter a plea after being denied bail but was seen in court in handcuffs.

Investigators say Mangione wasn’t apart of a list of names they were looking in to around the potential killer.

Mangione’s official mugshot[/caption]

His capture was a complete surprise as the NYPD thanked the McDonald’s worker for phoning the cops.

When police swooped in, Mangione gave them a fake New Jersey driver’s licence that said his name was Mark Rosario, according to court papers.

Mangione “started to shake” when the officers approached him and asked if he had been to New York in recent days, they added.

Cops recognised the ID as fake and threatened to arrest Mangione on the spot if he didn’t give up his true identity.

He then quietly admitted his real identity before having his possessions searched.

The life of Luigi Mangione

Mangione was born and raised in Maryland, where he was valedictorian of his high school graduating class at Gilman School in Baltimore.

His last known address was in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He had no prior criminal history.

The 2016 grad was “popular” and had a large circle of friends in high school, a Gilman alum told The U.S. Sun.

“We went to the same school but didn’t really have the same friends. I’m really shocked by this whole thing,” the former student, who didn’t share his name, said.

“I think he played soccer, it was an all-boys school so being a good athlete got you social currency for sure.”

He said Luigi got a “fantastic education,” adding, “For all the money it was, it ought to have been honestly.”

The suspect’s other close pal Tracy Le, a data analyst based in New York, says she has been left “shaken” by the scandal as she defended his character.

After high school, Mangione graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied Computer and Information Science, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He also got his masters from the Ivy League school.

Mangione was reportedly a data engineer at a car company in California.

But a spokesperson for TrueCar shared with The U.S. Sun: “While we generally don’t comment on personnel matters, we can confirm that Luigi Mangione has not been an employee of our company since 2023.”

Timeline of Brian Thompson's murder

BRIAN Thompson, the 50-year-old CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was shot to death in Manhattan in an execution-like killing.

Here is everything we know about Thompson’s murder so far.

Monday, December 2 – Thompson travels from his home in Minnesota to New York City for an investor conference in Midtown Manhattan.

Wednesday, December 4, 6:45 am – Thompson walks from his hotel across the street to the New York Hilton Midtown and is murdered by a masked shooter. The execution was caught on surveillance, and the suspect was seen biking away toward Central Park. Cops spark a citywide search for the assassin.

11:30 am – Cops released disturbing images of the execution, offered a reward for information, and made a desperate plea for New Yorkers to keep their eyes out.

12:00 pm – Thompson’s estranged wife Paulette revealed her husband had been threatened before he was shot.

2:45 pm – Cops released more eerie images of the suspect ordering at Starbucks that partially revealed his face. The U.S. Sun confirmed the coffee shop was just two blocks away from the shooting, but it’s unclear when he stopped by.

December 5, 6 am – Reports claim the words “deny,” “dispose,” and “defend” were engraved on live rounds and shell casings left behind by the assassin.
