SHOPPERS are left devastated after Waitrose discontinues this popular item that “tastes like heaven.”
The fitting festive treat was brought in for chocoholics but can’t be found on the shelves any more.
The Chocolate and Sour Cherry Trifle consisted of Belgian Mousse, chocolate sponge and cream, with a tangy cherry compote on top.
For £4, sweet treat fanatics could take home this 500g desert, but shoppers were crushed to find out that it is no longer available.
One disheartened customers posted on X: “Please don’t tell me this trifle has been discontinued, I can’t find it in your stores or online.”
Others who are team trifle have gushed in the Waitrose comment section about the dersert.
One wrote: “OMG, this is heaven on a plate.”
Another added: “Just the right amount of sharp to compliment the sweet chocolate.”
A third user simply wrote: “Divine”
Despite customers begging to have the treat restocked, and the raving reviews, Waitrose had been removed from the store for good, and could only offer other flavours of trifle.
In a gutting response, the retailer responded: “Not great news, I’m afraid this trifle has been discontinued.
“We do have other trifles available however, I appreciate they may not compare to the one you really liked.
“Our Mixed Berry Trifle does get great reviews…might be worth a try.”
This isn’t the first time shoppers have been struck with a popular item leaving the shelves, with Whittard’s apple strudel hot chocolate cruelly discontinued just before Christmas.
The drink was branded “divine” but cocoa drinkers was consistently ranked one of the best in the market – unfortunately it didn’t last until 2025.
Luckily, apple strudel fans can get hold of the item through the online John Lewis store, so it can still make a good stocking filler.
Aldi also secretly scrapped a popular snack item this year, with the Coconut Rings and Chocolate Rich Tea biscuits disappearing from the store.
One shopper even went round three stores in an attempt to find them but Aldi broke the bad news that they had been discontinued online.
The store posted on X: “We hope your fiancé finds an alternative packet to fall in love with.”
In a heart wrenching discovery, Sainsburys customers found that the iconic two-litre cartons of own brand orange juice had been axed.
The £1.99 drink offered a sizeable amount of the popular breakfast drink but now juice-lovers will have to splurge out £1.19 on a one litre carton instead.
Sainsburys has since apologised for the inconvenience but shoppers were so upset they threatened to take their business to Aldi instead.

They often say that this is down to the changing tastes of customers.
There are several reasons why this could be done.
For example, government regulation, like the “sugar tax,” forces firms to change their recipes.
Some manufacturers might choose to tweak ingredients to cut costs.
They may opt for a cheaper alternative, especially when costs are rising to keep prices stable.
For example, Tango Cherry disappeared from shelves in 2018.
It has recently returned after six years away but as a sugar-free version.
Fanta removed sweetener from its sugar-free alternative earlier this year.
Suntory tweaked the flavour of its flagship Lucozade Original and Orange energy drinks.
While the amount of sugar in every bottle remains unchanged, the supplier swapped out the sweetener aspartame for sucralose.
THE Repair Shop’s live tour has cancelled three dates next year after the venues struggled to sell tickets, we can reveal.
An insider said the show’s brand was “damaged” when host Jay Blades was charged with controlling and coercive behaviour.
Other dates will go ahead “at the moment”, the source added — but tickets “haven’t exactly been selling out”.
The Secrets From the Barn tour dates axed are Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The venues have confirmed that the live shows had not been rescheduled.
A show spokesman blamed “unforeseen scheduling issues” for the cancellations and said they were “looking forward to visiting those areas later in 2025”.
He said tickets for the ten other dates, which include Bath, Leicester and Salford, had been unaffected.
They will feature Blades’ co-stars Steve Fletcher, Suzie Fletcher, Will Kirk and Kirsten Ramsay.
The Sun revealed in October that Blades, 54, the BBC One show’s presenter for seven years, had been dropped from the UK tour.

Higgins explained: “I’ve gone back to a smaller tip and that is why I’m getting a bit more bite on the white.

COPS have ruled-out drink and drugs as causes of West Ham star Michail Antonio’s horror crash, sources claim.
Officers are working on the basis no third-parties were involved in the moments before the £260,000 wrecked Ferrari FF was wrecked in Essex, on Saturday.
And there has been no suggestion of excessive speeding – raising the spectre Antonio’s miracle escape could be a freak accident.
A source said: “Drink and drugs have already been ruled out, and officers are not currently looking for anyone else.
“There is no smoking gun as far as cops are concerned right now – but they have to investigate because the smash was so serious and caused such extensive injuries.
“Just because cops are involved doesn’t mean a crime has been committed.”
Skid-marks show Antonio was driving uphill from Theydon Bois to Waltham Abbey, when his motor slid off the road.
The crash took place at 12.50pm on Saturday as the front end of Storm Darragh swept across the country – with locals saying the route can be treacherous with run-off, in heavy rains.
The wreck of Antonio’s rare supercar was said to be in a tight-security lock-up – rather than the usual compound cars involved in crashes around the M25 in Essex.
Sources said it was set to be kept there in case investigators needed to examine it as part of an investigation into the star’s shocking near-miss.
The striker was continuing to recover from surgery to a broken leg on Tuesday, amid fears the fracture could shorten the 34-year-old’s career.
Dog walker Samuel Woods, also 34, told how Michail was seriously dazed when he saw him trapped in the ripped-apart motor.
Samuel told The Sun: “I said to him, ‘Hello’ to see if anyone was alive. He was so disorientated. He said, ‘Where am I? What’s going on? What car am I in?’ I couldn’t believe what happened.”
The driver’s side of the high-powered car was ripped apart by the impact with a tree in Theydon Bois, Essex, on Saturday.
Michail was sent flying across the interior to the passenger side.
Drivers reported seeing smoke pouring from the motor.
The star was trapped inside the supercar for almost an hour in the wreckage before being airlifted from the scene.
He had to be cut free from the 2011 Ferrari FF and was rushed to hospital.
Cops have appealed for dashcam footage in a bid to understand the lead-up to the smash.
They said an investigation by its Roads Policing Unit had been opened.
In a heartfelt tribute, Hammers stars wore shirts featuring Antonio’s name and number ahead of their clash with Wolves at London Stadium.

The outpouring of love from the football community for Michael Antonio has been massive, with the striker recognised as a big character in the game.
The Wandsworth-born forward started from humble beginnings – playing for non-league Tooting & Mitcham United.
After impressing in 2008, he was offered a trial at Reading – some five divisions up – and Alan Pardew duly snapped him up.
However, he later revealed he got kicked out by Tooting, after he refused to sign a contract.
Antonio said: “They kicked me out because I refused to sign a contract.
“I was like: ‘If someone comes in for me I don’t want to be tied down. I want to be able to go and not you out price me’.”
Following spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest, in 2015 he was plucked from the Championship in a £7million deal by West Ham.
He’s been there ever since, winning a player of the year award, twice being named Premier League player of the month and lifting a European trophy.
Away from football, Antonio has bravely opened up about his mental health struggles in recent times.
The Jamaica international was recently asked by Gary Lineker on the Rest is Football podcast what he would like to do when he retires from the game.

BOXING legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather was punched in the street as he went shopping in Central London – amid fears he was targeted over his support for Israel.
A mob descended on the undefeated ex-champion and his entourage as the bling-loving king of the ring went shopping in posh Hatton Garden.
Mayweather, who was dressed in a green jacket, looked angry as he and his security were followed in the capital.
The 47-year-old was confronted by a mob as his bodyguards bundled him out of a top jewellery store and into a waiting black 4×4.
One witness, who declined to be named, filmed the incident after it spiralled out of the store and into the street.
He told The Sun: “There were maybe about eight to ten people involved in going after him, and about 20 or 25 watching on.
“Mayweather’s security team were outnumbered.
“Someone said that Mayweather had been shopping when he was asked why he supported Israel. He doubled down and said he was proud to support the Jews.
“Then someone took a swing at him because of that. It looked very targeted.
“He was bundled out of the shop but by then there were multiple people trying to hit him, and pushing his security guards.”
The eyewitness continued: “Floyd took a few hits during it, but his security was trying to push people back.
“I couldn’t really see Floyd trying to throw any punches back. His guards were just trying to get distance between him and them.
“They got him into a car and tapped the roof two times, then it sped off. Clearly they were desperate to get him out of there.
“It was over within two minutes.”
Last night it was feared Mayweather was targeted by pro-Gaza supporters over his staunch backing of Israel.
The attack came days after the boxer launched the Mayweather Israel Initiative, which he says will give every orphan in Israel a free birthday present.
Mayweather has also visited the Middle East and in October branded Israel his “home away from home”.
In one of the videos a man can be heard saying: “You’re not gonna believe this man.
“Money Mayweather just got punched up bro.”
Mayweather appeared to be followed by a group of men as he and his security team walked towards a black car.
With tensions rising, the ex-boxing champion then got into his car as they drove off amid ugly scenes.
In another video, Mayweather was seen browsing in a store with expensive watches and jewellery on show.
Mayweather officially retired in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor, 36, but he has continued to box in exhibitions.
The boxing legend boasts an incredible array of wealth, including the tallest commercial building in the USA as one of NINE skyscrapers that he owns.
