Sick new Putin ‘war crime’ as barbaric Russians ‘film themselves shooting Ukrainian prisoners dead in mass execution’

BARBARIC Russian soldiers filmed themselves shooting dead six Ukrainian prisoners of war in cold blood – igniting more accusations of “war crimes” by Vlad’s army.

Kyiv has launched a criminal investigation and reported the sickening killings to the UN and Red Cross, insisting Russia cannot be allowed to so brazenly flout the laws of war.

The savage Russian soldiers filmed themselves committing the illegal massacres of unarmed Ukrainians in the occupied Donetsk region.

“This one’s mine,” says one of the executioners after demanding: “Give me two machine guns.”

The POWs are seen lying face down on the ground in a wooded area next to a temporary hut.

“Get the camera,” says one voice.

It continues: “Get the phone, get the phone, get the phone, get the phone, film me.”

The prisoners are told to “Get the **** over here, one at a time over here, hurry up.”

The Russians shoot at a drone flying overhead so it doesn’t film the heinous crimes they are about to commit.

The captives are told: “One at a time. Over here, on your knees.”

They are ordered: “Go, go, we’ll kill you anyway.”

Two Ukrainians lying on their fronts rise to their feet and, cowering, stumble over to a spot next to some logs.

With their hands raised in the air, they kneel down.

A Russian swings the barrel of his machine gun towards them and murders them in cold blood.

Then was the turn of the rest of the prisoners – who had just seen their friends slaughtered.

The Russians scream at them to get up, and force them walk one-by-one away from them.

They spray bullets into their backs as they stagger towards the corpses of their fallen comrades.

Ukrainian human rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinets said: “In the video, the occupiers themselves recorded their own crime – the shooting in the back of six Ukrainian soldiers who were captured.

“The video cuts off when the seventh soldier lies on the ground, his fate unknown.

“The shooting of each of the captured soldiers takes place in front of other comrades.

“At the same time, the occupiers order them to ‘lie down and shut their mouths’.

“The ‘operator’ of the crime voices: ‘One is mine’, and later we see him firing a series of bullets into the back of one of the prisoners of war.”

Lubinets stressed: “The Russian army has never been famous for its dignified treatment of prisoners of war, and here it once again demonstrates its helplessness and criminality.”

He has sent details to the UN and International Committee of the Red Cross.

He said: “The lack of responsibility has turned the crime into a systematic one.

“We cannot turn a blind eye to this.

“Ukraine needs justice and responsibility for those who commit crimes and do not adhere to any norms.”

The Ukrainian prosecutor-general’s office said: “During the assault on the positions of Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk region, the occupiers captured six servicemen of the Defence Forces of Ukraine and subsequently shot them.

“The shooting of prisoners of war is a serious violation of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War and is classified as a grave international crime.”

Woman, 70, who killed baby girl in horror crash after smashing into her pram outside a hospital is jailed

A WOMAN has been jailed for killing a baby girl in a horror crash after smashing into her pram outside a hospital.

Mabli Cariad Hall was struck by the car at Withybush Hospital in Pembrokeshire, Wales, in June last year.

Bridget Curtis admitted causing death by dangerous driving[/caption]

The eight-month-old was airlifted to Bristol Children’s Hospital but tragically couldn’t be saved and died four days later.

Bridget Curtis, 70, has now been jailed for four years after admitting a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

Swansea Crown Court heard the horror unfolded at around 11.50am on June 21 after a BMW crashed into Mabli and another pedestrian.

Curtis’ daughter was struggling to find her handbag in the rear of the vehicle with Curtis unlocking the door and turning round to assist her.

As she did so, Curtis pressed the accelerator of the automatic car – which had been left running and was not in park mode – “right to the ground”, the judge said.

The vehicle propelled forward, reaching speeds of more than 29mph as it travelled just 28 metres – mounting the kerb of a grass seating area and hitting the pushchair of Mabli.

Mabli had just said a final goodbye to her paternal grandmother Betty Hall who was receiving end-of-life care at the hospital.

She was taken to the hospital’s accident and emergency department before being airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, then transferred to Bristol Children’s Hospital.

The baby, who was in her pram at the time of the horror, tragically passed away on June 25 in the arms of her parents Rob and Gwen Hall.

A cause of death was previously given as severe traumatic brain injuries.

Curtis was treated in hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries along with a passenger in the car.#

Curtis, who had a clean driving licence, was arrested and later pleaded guilty to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

A second pedestrian struck by the BMW was also taken to hospital but later discharged.

Dashcam footage from another vehicle at the hospital showed Curtis’ car appearing to lift off the ground before colliding with Mabli’s family and her pushchair, then coming to a stop when it hit a tree.

Mr and Mrs Hall stood together in the witness box of the courtroom as they gave harrowing statements about Mabli’s death and the impact of their loss.

Mr Hall, who had been placing Mabli back into her pushchair at the time of the collision, described how Curtis had “literally ripped my baby out of my arms”.

“I remember Mabli smiling at me, making her cute noises as I was about to take her for a walk,” Mr Hall said.

Mrs Hall told how Mabli had been sitting in her pushchair away from the road playing with her family when she was fatally injured.

“All that we have been through was avoidable,” she said.

“I finished my maternity leave without my baby. In four seconds, I went from a Mum who took care of my Mabli all day and night, to not having her at all.”

Mrs Hall said Mabli would not go to school, to marry or to have her own family as this had been “stolen from her by Bridget Curtis”.

“She was so bright, so beautiful, so full of love and life,” she told the court.

“She was my best friend, my shadow, my second skin. All she ever gave and all she ever had was love.”

Judge Geraint Walters disqualified Curtis from driving for eight years and sentenced her to four years in prison describing her actions as “grossly reckless”.

Tornado hits UK destroying homes & tearing off roof tiles ahead of 100mph Storm Eowyn hitting in just HOURS

A TORNADO has destroyed homes and ripped off roof tiles as Brits brace for 100mph winds and Storm Eowyn expected to hit in just hours.

Over 4.5 million people have already received an alert on their phone to urgently warn them of the dangers ahead.

Storm Éowyn has been predicted to sweep in gails of up to 100mph[/caption]

With the Met Office issuing a red alert and “danger to life” warning from tomorrow, residents in Cornwall have already experienced a tornado.

Wreaking havoc across exposed costal areas, at least one person is being treated for injuries, according to local media.

The yellow wind warning in place for most of today is the first of several as Storm Eowyn hits Brits tomorrow.

Tornados in southern areas of the country “cannot be ruled out” according to the European Storm Forecast Experiment.

The tail of destruction already witnessed today has been described by one resident near Newquay as “very scary”.

Luke Freely from Quintrell, told Cornwall Live: “It came right through our estate. It’s damaged my roof, and my neighbours’ roofs have been severely damaged.

“It was very scary and my partner is still shook up. Lots of damage, oh my god, there’s fences, there’s trees, there’s garden equipment everywhere.

“Never seen anything like it.”

A Met Office spokesperson said: “There was a squally front moving eastwards, primarily across Wales and central and/or southern parts of England today which gave an isolated chance of tornados developing.

“All the evidence we’ve seen is consistent with a tornado having occurred in Cornwall this morning. However, most areas experienced a period of heavy rain and gusty winds.”

Further tornados are expected across the country with the train operator, Scotrail, already cancelling its entire network for Friday.

With thousands of services already suspended, the Met Office currently predicts its red warning to remain in place from 10am to 5pm on Friday with dangerous conditions to driving and all travel expected.

The forecaster has predicted “flying debris”, “danger to life” and “very dangerous driving conditions” as Storm Eowyn’s strong winds move in tomorrow.

Current advice includes to stay indoors as being outside in the gails could make residents “vulnerable to injury“.

The Met Office has also described the warning has having a “high likelihood” and “high impact”.

All schools in Northern Ireland have been advised to close on Friday amid a rare red warning for wind issued for Storm Eowyn, Stormont’s Education Minister Paul Givan has said.

He said: “I understand this will impact on the work of schools and indeed on other businesses and services, but the decision has been taken to avoid any potential risk to life for children and young people as well as staff.

“Schools should put plans in place today for remote learning so that pupils can study at home.”

The whole of Northern Ireland is expected to be impacted by the rare storm.

With people advised to ensure “phones and laptops are fully charged” and to expect “significant power outages”.

A Met Office spokesperson said peak rush hour wind speeds of 80-90mph are expected across Northern Ireland, with up to 100mph in some exposed locations.

“An extremely windy spell with disruption and potentially damaging winds tomorrow morning,” he said.

The record for a gust in Northern Ireland is 124mph in Kilkeel in Co Down in January 1974.

Today the Environment Agency has 14 flood alerts in place across England.

Storm Éowyn is expected to pass close to or across the northwest of the UK on Friday before moving to the northeast on Saturday.

The Met Office said there is some uncertainty in the track of the storm but can confirm there will be be powerful gales.

“A spell of very strong winds is likely, initially southeasterly before turning westerly, with peak gusts of 50-60 mph inland, 60-70 mph around some coasts and hills,” the forecaster added.

“Perhaps up to 80 mph in exposed parts of western Scotland.”

RED ALERT

The Met Office has issued the red alert ahead of the severe weather expected tomorrow.

It has predicted the following regions and local areas will be affected:

Central, Tayside and Fife

  • Clackmannanshire
  • Falkirk
  • Fife
  • Stirling

SW Scotland, Lothian Borders

  • Dumfries and Galloway

Gardeners World’s Monty Don shocks neighbours with NAKED garden run

GARDENERS’ World host Monty Don ended up doing The Full Monty after spotting a herd of cows in his backyard while he was having a bath.

They wandered into Long Meadow – his sprawling garden in Herefordshire which features in the BBC Two show.

Monty said: “Sometimes we have wildlife there that we don’t want.

One time some cattle got in.

“I got in the bath, looked out of the window and there was this big white face looking at me.

“So I got a towel and rushed outside to chase them.

“I put on some wellies and then the towel fell and I was running around Long Meadow stark b*****k naked.

“But we got them out and we keep them out.”

Hopefully not by running naked around the garden 24 hours a day.

Recently, Gardeners World fans have urged host Monty to ‘stay safe’ in his garden, after he shared a worrying update.

Monty began presenting the popular BBC gardening series in 2003 – with a hiatus from 2008 to 2011.

Taking to Instagram, the presenter showed his garden to followers – after it had been hit by snow and floods.

The aftermath of severe UK weather left the garden under deep, dirty water.

He captioned the update: “I think this is the first time in 34 years we have simultaneously had flooding and lying snow.

“In any event the roads to the garden are flooded so no vehicles in or out today.”

Thousands of households have just one month left to apply for cost of living direct payments worth £100

THOUSANDS of households could be eligible for cost of living payments worth £100 – but there’s only one month left to apply.

Those struggling to afford their food and fuel may be entitled to additional cash support made available through their local council.

The Household Support Fund first offered aid to those in need back in 2021[/caption]

The government’s Household Support Fund (HSF) has been extended for a sixth time resulting in £421 million being offered to councils.

Each local authority has control over the redistribution of the cash and now those who receive Council Tax Reduction could be sent the aid directly.

With many households no longer receiving DWP cost of living payments, the extension means that those struggling might still be eligible.

Families or those with disabilities already receiving a council tax reduction could get their hands on £100.

While those without children or an impairment under the disability act could get half of this amount.

To apply, individuals should visit their local council website with each area having different eligibility regulations and funds on offer.

Calderdale Council has revealed their extra financial support closes on February 28 meaning local residents may need to act fast.

Once all of the necessary applications have been sent, individuals should expect their details to be looked at within seven days.

If approved, payment should be received within a further seven.

It’s not just households under this council that are eligible.

For instance, Rotherham Council is now offering struggling families £250 grants to fight the cost of living.

You do not need to be on benefits to apply for the fund.

Newcastle Council has been awarded £2.9million to help struggling families this winter.

Some £950,000 of that fund will be given to those who are pensionable age in receipt of Council Tax Support or Housing Benefit but who don’t qualify for the Winter Fuel Allowance.

Those worried about applying for the fund due to the impact it may have on their existing benefits should not fret.

The HSF should not affect other payments received from the government.

Back in October 2021, the HSF was first set up to offer councils the chance to decide the best way for money to be directed to people living in their area.

This means it can be a postcode lottery depending on who qualifies as each authority sets its own eligibility criteria.

However, those who can provide evidence of little money in their bank or savings have usually been deemed a recipient.

The fifth round of the funding closed in September with the current extension of the scheme expected until April.

The Sun previously revealed a full list of councils providing extra support for pensioners this winter through the fund.

Household Support Fund explained

Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements explains what you need to know about the Household Support Fund.

If you’re battling to afford energy and water bills, food or other essential items and services, the Household Support Fund can act as a vital lifeline.

The financial support is a little-known way for struggling families to get extra help with the cost of living.

Every council in England has been given a share of £421million cash by the government to distribute to local low income households.

Each local authority chooses how to pass on the support. Some offer vouchers whereas others give direct cash payments.

In many instances, the value of support is worth hundreds of pounds to individual families.

Just as the support varies between councils, so does the criteria for qualifying.

Many councils offer the help to households on selected benefits or they may base help on the level of household income.

The key is to get in touch with your local authority to see exactly what support is on offer.

And don’t delay, the scheme has been extended until April 2025 but your council may dish out their share of the Household Support Fund before this date.

Once the cash is gone, you may find they cannot provide any extra help so it’s crucial you apply as soon as possible.

‘Ref has forgotten about VAR!’ says Hoddle as penalty against Spurs overturned seconds before kick in bizarre scenes

GLENN HODDLE claimed the referee “forgot about VAR” before he overturned a penalty in Tottenham’s Europa League clash with Hoffenheim.

Morten Krogh awarded the Germans a 64th minute spot-kick after he deemed Spurs stopper Brandon Austin to have fouled Max Moerstedt.

The Danish official gave a pen as he judged Austin to have struck Moerstedt in the face as he tried to intercept Kevin Akpoguma’s deflected cross.

Hoffenheim hitman Andrej Kramaric was all set to take the resulting spot kick until the VAR instructed Krogh to review the incident on the monitor.

That prompted TNT Sports pundit and Spurs legend Hoddle to say: “As the ball springs over the top Brandon Austin has the right to dive, there’s contact.

“But I’m not sure what the goalkeeper is supposed to do. I think it’s a 50-50.”

He continued: “The referee has forgot about VAR for a moment.

“Brandon Austin just gets a little touch on it, which might be his saving grace.”

After seeing Austin touched the ball before his hand hit Moerstedt, Krogh reversed his decision and the booking he dished out.

Hoddle said of the call: “I think that’s the right decision. Plus he doesn’t get the booking.

“The booking’s been taken off Austin as well.”

A relieved Austin tried to shake hands with the ref after the decision was overturned.

But he was snubbed by the official, much to the enjoyment of Hoddle.

He said: “He thought he was gonna shake his hands there.

“The referee went for the ball and he went to shake hands for the referee.”

Tottenham narrowly escaped the PreZero Arena with all three points, running out 3-2 winners in their penultimate group match.

Hoffenheim 2 Tottenham 3: Spurs take giant step to avoiding dreaded play-off but leave fans biting their nails at end

ANGE POSTECOGLOU began his big week well enough, thanks to an explosive start and a rocket from skipper Son Heung-min.

Despite being woken up at 2am by fireworks let off outside their hotel by cheeky home fans, Spurs raced into a two-goal lead through James Maddison and Son.

Anton Stach grabbed one back for the hosts in the second half[/caption]

The spark started to fizzle out though with hosts Hoffenheim missing a number of big chances, and having a penalty overturned, before netting through Anton Stach.

At that point you feared another collapse from confidence-sapped Spurs.

But then up stepped Son to crash home a blistering drive into the far corner.

Sub David Mokwa did ensure a nervy finish with a late header but the visitors hung on.

It put Tottenham, who were missing FOURTEEN players through injury and ineligibility, on the brink of automatic qualification for the knockouts.

A point at home to Swedish side Elfsborg should be enough to secure a top-eight spot and avoid a pesky play-off in February.

But more importantly it kicked off a pivotal seven days for under-pressure Postecoglou, whose injury-hit side have slumped to 15th in the league and are pinning all their hopes on the cups.

Spurs were so short of players that they only named eight out of a possible 12 subs, including two goalkeepers and six teenagers.

They were 1-0 up inside two minutes when Maddison cleverly controlled Pedro Porro’s high ball with one touch and dispatched in past keeper Oliver Baumann with the other.

Son, Porro and Richarlison, making just his second start this term due to his own personal injury woe, went close with shots.

Then on 22 minutes, the former doubled the lead to give Spurs some breathing room.

Once again Maddison was involved, clipping a ball through which Son controlled on his chest, just about, before firing a shot which looped up off Pavel Kaderbek and bounced into the net.

It was the most comfortable Tottenham had looked in ages as they bossed the opening 25 minutes – though Hoffenheim were poor.

But this would not be Spurs this season without some jeopardy and they were lucky when their hosts squandered three good chances before the break.

Two fell to striker Max Moerstedt but he could not beat Europa League debutant Brandon Austin, who also saved well from Bayern Munich-bound Tom Bischof.

The hosts piled on the pressure after the break, with ex-Leicester man Andrej Kramaric heading onto the crossbar.

Veteran Kramaric then thought he was about to take a penalty after one was given when Austin appeared to clatter Moerstedt with his fist when trying to punch away a cross.

But as the Croat waited to take the spot-kick, ref Morten Krogh was called to his touchline monitor to have a second look – and found that Austin had made contact with the ball first.

Hoffenheim shook off the disappointment and within minutes did have a goal back as Stach turned home David Jurasek’s cross.

Son looked to have killed it off with a vintage strike, going round Kevin Akpoguma with a drop of the shoulder and belting the ball into the far corner.

But nothing is coming easy for Spurs right now.

And when Mokwa headed home with two minutes to go, it was a matter of hanging on, which they just about did, much to Postecoglou’s relief.
