A STUNNING 80s motor with over £50,000 worth of upgrades is on the market for a bargain sum.
The first-generation classic Volkswagen Golf GTi will be auctioned on 22 March, 2025 by Iconic Auctioneers.

And despite its brand new features and upgrades, it’s expected to fetch as little as £18,000 in auction.
That’s over £30,000 less than the cost of renovations alone.
The classic ride, finished in Porsche Cashmere, is even MOT exempt.
Images shared by the auction house show the Golf has been retrimmed in black leather, with red-stitch detailing and black carpets.
It’s bold frame sits on OEM G60 steel wheels that are wrapped in Yokohamas.
The “stand out” motor is powered by a fully forged, 2-litre, 16-valve ABF engine producing around 200bhp.
It’s being marketed as a brilliant addition to any modern collection.
With its classic, swish look the listing states it’s a “head-turning” and “exciting” companion for weekend drives.
The vehicle is adapted to fair-weather cruising and custom car show visits alike, according to the listing.
It says: “The model was originally UK-supplied and first registered in June 1983 and has been with its current owner for over 12 years.”
“This car’s amazing mechanical and cosmetic specifications are all detailed on the Condition Report provided.”
Any car enthusiast wishing to get their hands on the model can bid online, by phone or in the room.
The live auction will begin at 11am in Birmingham.
This comes as a stunning Ford Capri that’s so rare only 14 of its kind exist in the world was put up for sale for a five-figure sum.
The iconic motor, which is a much-loved classic and considered highly collectable, recently surfaced on Facebook Marketplace.
The listing, which indicates the car is located in Arundel, Littlehampton, claimed the renowned Ford has undergone an extensive restoration.
In fact, the sellers assert it is “highly doubtful” that any other Capri could match its high standard.
It also states that the 1969 motor, which is listed for sale at £42,000, cost approximately £60,000 in total to restore, with the car now looking better than new.
Tweaks to the car’s appearance include new panels, floors, arches, seams, and much more.

Maddie Smout, a mum-of-two from the UK, took to social media to share the aisle in B&M shoppers mustn’t miss – and it’s full of affordable cleaning supplies.
With the majority of items just £1 each, you’ll need to check out your local B&M ‘Special Buy’ aisle next time you take a trip.
Giving her followers a close-up look at the sale aisle, Maddie shared her short clip with the caption ‘If you know about this aisle then we are already friends!’
She then said: “Guys if you’re not going down the bargain aisle in B&M, you’re missing a trick.
“Some of their cleaning stuff is elite and the majority of which is £1 to £2.”

How to save money at B&M
Shoppers have saved hundreds of pounds a year by using B&M's scanner app.
The scanner lets you see if an item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop floor label.
Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift.
The app is free to download off the B&M Stores mobile app via Google Play or the Apple App Store.
Download the B&M app for free on any smartphone with an App Store or Google Play.
Once you’ve installed it on your device, click on the option labelled “more” on the bottom, right-hand side of the app home page.
You’ll then find an option that says “barcode scanner”. Click on this and you’ll open a camera screen.
Use the camera to hover over the barcode of the product you wish to check.
If the price comes up as lower, take it to the cash desk and it will automatically scan at the lower price.

The new president has vowed to take control of Greenland in a peaceful transfer of power as it is an “absolute necessity” to protect global “national security and freedom”.
Debate has raged on for weeks over his threats with Denmark standing firm in the face of the new president.
One Dane has been particularly vocal of his disdain for Trump’s dream take over.
Anders Vistisen, a Danish member of the European Parliament, bluntly told the Republican to “f*** off” in response to his recent remarks.
During a session at parliament he said: “Dear President Trump, listen very carefully. Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years.
“It’s an integrated part of our country. It is not for sale.
“Let me put it in words you might understand. Mr Trump F*** off.”
The issue of Greenland’s ownership has raged on for weeks now with it being a major talking point at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Charles Gasparino from the New York Post said the general feeling at the event was that it would be a very hard move to pull off – but not impossible by any means.
A number of Wall Street investment bankers argued that money can solve most issues with America being wealthy enough to just make an offer Greenland can’t refuse – much like the iconic scene in The Godfather.
Greenland’s PM Egede has already said he is willing to speak with Trump and announced this week his government is working to arrange a meeting soon.
The PM said at a press conference in Nuuk on Tuesday: “It is very understandable that people are worried. But the most important thing now is that people remain calm.
“We must be able to meet and talk about this calmly.
“If they want to talk about Greenland, they have to talk to Greenland.”
It is still unclear how soon a meeting could be arranged but Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt didn’t rule out a chat within a few days.
Talks of a meeting between a persuasive Trump and Greenland’s top officials is set to worry Denmark who have been adamant the territory is not up for sale.

Danish PM Mette Frederiksen has also insisted: “Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders.”
Frederiksen said: “There is a lot of support among the people of Greenland that Greenland is not for sale and will not be in the future either.”
As an autonomous territory of Denmark, Greenland has its own ruling body – but people from the island have Danish citizenship.
But Denmark is responsible for Greenland’s protection and their army would be the army to mobilise against the Americans.
Its defence budget is around £6billion – 100 times smaller than the eye-watering £750billion America splashes on defence.
Despite the two nations continuing to squabble over ownership of Greenland, PM Egede has made it clear that Greenland wants to be completely independent – both of Denmark and a lurking America.
Why does Trump want Greenland?
Greenland is far from being just a useless block of ice as it is a vital strategic asset bursting with natural resources.
It also sits bang in the middle of the main Arctic trade routes – an area which is increasingly the object of a struggle between international superpowers.
Russia and China have both ramped up efforts to take control of the region, and there are concerns that America has been caught off-guard.
Russia, which owns 40 per cent of the Arctic coastline, has been particularly proactive in cranking up military activity.
It is currently building the world’s largest fleet of nuclear icebreakers that will dominate the Arctic waters and open up new routes shipping in the winter.
China’s plan to take control of the Arctic is dubbed the “Polar Silk Road”, and was formally announced in 2018.
During his first term in 2019, Trump suggested that the US should buy Greenland – the largest island in the world that is not a continent – given its strategic importance.
He even appointed a team to prepare options, including a long-term lease deal.
But the idea was roundly rejected by Denmark as well as by the island’s own authorities.
Trump could storm Greenland and claim it within 24 hours in the “world’s shortest war”, analysts have revealed.
If Trump did invade, America’s military might would end the war in a day, politics professor Anthony Glees told The Sun.
Speaking to The Sun, Glees said Trump will be surrounded by “people who think he is great” – and it means he will be able to go ahead with any wild ideas he has.
Glees said: “In other words, we have to take him seriously.
“And if Trump wanted to take Greenland by force, he could do it in 24 hours.”
Ulrik Pram Gad, a senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies, told Politico that “there is no defensive capacity in Greenland”.
And it means it would be “the shortest war in the world”.
The conflict would present an “unchartered” situation after the US entered a pact with Denmark in 1951 to defend Greenland against any attack.
The US has a nuclear base on the island that is constantly manned by troops.
Kristian Søby Kristensen, a military researcher at the University of Copenhagen, said: “Who would the Americans be fighting? Their own military?”
Glees said it was likely that, in the event of a US invasion, “there would be no military response to it because it is unthinkable that any Nato member would attack the US”.

COPS have urged locals to check their sheds as they ramp up the search for a missing mum who vanished on a trip to Morrisons.
Specialist search teams have been deployed to hunt for Charlene Hobbs, 35, who disappeared on July 24, 2024 in Adamsdown, Cardiff.

Areas across South Wales will be thoroughly investigated, including derelict premises, vehicles and open land.
Police forces from different areas will coordinate the search to try and track down Charlene, who hasn’t been seen for almost six months.
They have appealed to people living in the Splott and Roath areas to check their outbuildings and empty properties, where the woman may have taken shelter.
A spokesperson from South Wales Police, said they would continue to “engage with the local community” in order to secure Charlene’s whereabouts.
Speaking to those who might hold any information and delivering leaflets to key addresses are among their top priorities.
He added: “There remain several possible explanations for Charlene’s disappearance, and I am maintaining an open mind as we do all we can to establish what has happened to her.
“I do believe that answers as to where Charlene is lie in the community and that members of the public can assist us returning Charlene to her family.”
The cops urged residents to come forward with information “no matter how insignificant” they may feel it is.
They added: “Charlene is a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend to many. Like us, they are all extremely concerned for her welfare and are desperate for answers.”
In December, the force released images of the missing mum which showed her dragon tattoo.
Further mobile phone analysis suggested that Charlene may have been texting and calling people known to her earlier that evening.
The photo of Charlene shared by the cops was verified as being taken in Broadway at 6.07am on July 24.
Charlene was wearing the same strapless top as the previous day when she was spotted on CCTV at a local Morrisons store.
South Wales Police said officers conducted extensive enquiries since she went missing.
They spoke to the missing person’s friends and looked through CCTV footage of areas Charlene is “known to frequent”.
One of the vehicles seized as part of the investigation into the woman’s disappearance was a Nissan Micra found in St Helen’s Close, Abergavenny, on 29 October.
The car was originally red and largely painted black, but was burnt when discovered.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell, from South Wales Police, said: “Charlene is a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend to many.
“Like us, they are all very concerned for her welfare and are desperate for answers.
“There are several possible explanations for Charlene’s disappearance, and we are keeping an open mind as we do all we can to establish what has happened to her.”
At the time, police appealed for information regarding the calls and messages Charlene sent.
Two men, aged 45 and 43, and a 38-year-old woman, who were arrested in connection with the investigation, were later released on bail pending further enquiries.
Last month, Charlene’s family urged their loved one to come home.
“Charlene, we are desperate to have you home,” they said in a statement.
“We have been out looking for you and will continue to do all we can to try to find you, and to understand what may have happened.
“We would ask that any friends of Charlene’s or anyone who may know her, who may have any information about her disappearance to please come forward.”
A spokesperson for South Wales police added: “We can only imagine how distressing this must be for Charlene’s family and friends.
“We continue to do everything possible, with the information available, to find her.
“We are keeping an open mind as to Charlene’s movements and whereabouts.
“We are extremely grateful to the public who have contacted us with information and possible sightings.
“These are all being fully investigated but unfortunately none have yet been confirmed as being Charlene.”

Toni Colette was the leading lady in the famous movie, picking up a Golden Globe nomination for the role of misguided Muriel Heslop.
In the flick, Muriel is the victim of cruel bullying from her ‘friends’ – of which Tania is one – and has desires of escaping her home town for a better, more extravagant life elsewhere.
She has a luxurious sham wedding to a South African athlete so that he can compete for Australia in the Olympics, but as soon as they tie the knot he makes it clear there’s no chance of a genuine relationship developing.
A series of tragic life events and the reality of her loveless marriage ultimately teach her valuable lessons about what’s important in life.
After starring in the film, Sophie also had roles in Holy Smoke!, with Harvey Keitel and Kate Winslet, and 2012’s Mental, which saw her reunite with Colette and Muriel’s Wedding director P.J. Hogan.
The mum-of-three is married to businessman Anthony Freedman and has stepped back from acting in recent years.
