If you’re looking for more tips on keeping your teeth looking bright one dentist has shared her biggest “don’ts” when it comes to keeping your teeth pearly white.

While another dentist weighs in on the daily mistake you’re making that’s causing yellow teeth.

Dentist-approved teeth whitening tips

ERIN Fraundorf, DMD, MSD, owner of BOCA Orthodontic + Whitening Studio in Missouri, shared her top tips for whiter teeth.

Seek whitening treatment from a professional. It’s often stronger and will be the most effective so you don’t waste your money on a product that doesn’t work or may harm you.  You also only get one set of teeth, so it’s best not to experiment on them.

Consider the cause of the staining. There are numerous causes for teeth to have a yellow or brown tint.  Be sure to get evaluated and diagnosed by a professional to ensure you receive the best treatment for your stains. Not all stains are the same so they may require different treatments.

Consider your lifestyle, smile goals, and budget. When choosing a whitening treatment that is best for you, consider multiple factors when designing a custom plan. Some people like homework to whiten at home, some prefer in-office treatments only, some need to get really bright really fast — for a wedding, for example — whereas others would like a more gentle, gradual, consistent approach to whitening.

Ease into it. Start integrating teeth whitening into your routine gradually to get your teeth accustomed to it and you can closely monitor your level of sensitivity to regulate how frequently you can whiten.

Try to prevent. Make tiny changes to your lifestyle in an effort to prevent staining from penetrating your teeth.  For example, sip staining beverages through a straw, swish with plain water after drinking anything staining, and pick flat water over sparkling whenever possible.

Water floss to help in between the teeth stains. Blast away stubborn stains in between your teeth with a water flosser, because toothbrush bristles can only reach so much of your tooth surface.

I was made redundant from £50k-a-year job and almost lost my home but a little-known scheme saved me

AS EMMA lies in bed at night she is unable to sleep, she’s hungry after only eating bread and cheese and having no money left after bills.

The xx-year-old, who lives in Birmingham, went from a £50,000 a year software job to living on £600 a month in benefits after getting made redundant from her job last August.

Portrait of a person with long blonde hair wearing glasses and a beige sweater.
Emma now struggles to make ends meet because of losing her job and falling into rent arrears

Despite having over three decades of experience, Emma struggled to find work and was left with no choice but to apply for benefits.

She is thousands of pounds in debt as she struggles to keep up with bills.

She owes £2,000 to her private landlord, after the rent was raised on her three-bed house, where she lives alone, from £750 to £995 a month 14 months ago.

Emma faced being homeless last year when she was issued a Section 21 notice from her landlord.

The eviction notice can be issued for a number of reasons, including not paying rent or if the owner wants to sell the property.

“There were times when I could not sleep at night..I was restless [and] I couldn’t focus really much on the job hunt.”

“I had this thing really burning in my mind and it was stressful.”

Since losing her job she’s struggled to keep up with her rent payments, as her benefits do not cover the full cost.

“I don’t have a bank of mum and dad…I do have other friends and family, but I don’t want to rely on them, because they’ve got their own financial issues and needs,” she told The Sun.

With money tight, Emma has survived on a diet of solely bread, milk and cheese for the past five months, which she says has impacted her mentally.

“[Buying] fruit and veg is more expensive than buying bread and cheese..you tend to eat the crap because it’s cheap.”

But she is not alone; she is one of countless renters who are finding it hard to survive after an increase in housing pressures.

A tough economic climate has meant many landlords have raised the price of rent to help cover the costs of a rising mortgage or utility bills.

With many would-be-buyers struggling to get on the ladder there is also a higher demand for rental homes, meaning landlords often increase rent because of competition.

New figures show over 67% people experiencing at least one housing pressure in the last year including keeping up with rent or mortgage payments, according to Homeless charity shelter.

A further 37% also had to cut back on essentials such as food to afford their housing costs.

With no one to turn to, Emma rang homeless and housing charity Shelter.

The group offer free legal aid to anyone at risk of losing their home, regardless of whether they rent or own.

Experts advised Emma to stay in the property until the landlord got a court order to evict her, but thankfully this was never obtained.

This advice allowed Emma to remain in her home, as she was able to negotiate with her landlord and he decided to not go ahead with the order.

She described the help she received as “brilliant” and said she “wholeheartedly” recommends Shelter to anyone in a similar position.

“[Don’t bury your] head in the sand, reach out to shelter,” she adds.

WHAT HELP IS AVAILABLE?

If you are struggling to pay your rent or mortgage its worth being aware of charities and government support available.

As mentioned, Shelter will offer free legal advice to tenants and home owners at risk of loosing their home.

You can call the CLA helpline at 0345 345 4 345.

You might get legal aid if you get benefits or have a low income.

Legal aid can help with serious housing problems like:

  • Eviction or being told to leave
  • Repossession by a mortgage lender
  • Getting homeless help from the council
  • Living somewhere damp, overcrowded or unsafe

You could also apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP).

This is a one off government payment which is given to your landlord to cover rental costs.

You can apply for a DHP if you currently get either:

  • Housing Benefit
  • The housing element of Universal Credit and need more financial support with housing costs

You may get a DHP to cover housing costs for:

  • A rent shortfall
  • Rent deposits
  • Rent in advance if you need to move home

You apply through the council so you will need to contact your local to learn out how to apply.

You can find your nearest council by visiting, www.gov.uk/find-local-council.

How much you get depends on circumstances, but The Sun previously reported that one hard up household as £4,496.

Three-time Olympic medallist airlifted to hospital after horror 50m skiing fall as panicked wife and daughter watch on

OLYMPIC legend Alexis Pinturault was airlifted to hospital following a horror crash on Friday.

Pinturault, 33, was taking part in an Alpine skiing World Cup super-G in Kitzbühel, Austria when he found himself needing urgent medical assistance after crashing into a gate.

The three-time Olympic medallist managed to return to his feet and remove his skis before falling to the ground once more in pain.

The star’s wife, Romane, was watching on in horror alongside their one-year-old daughter from the crowd while Pinturault was airlifted to hospital.

The French Ski Federation have since confirmed that Pinturault has suffered a significant bone bruise on the medial tibial plateau, along with a small fracture and an injury to the medial meniscus.

The news will come as huge frustration to the three-time world champion Frenchman after he suffered a season-ending injury this time last year too.

Pinturault tore his left ACL in a 50m fall that required him to be airlifted to hospital as well.

Marco Odermatt, 27, went on to win Friday’s super-G for his 44th career World Cup victory and opened up about Pinturault’s injury, explaining that it’s hard to see so soon after his recovery from his ACL issue.

He said: “It hurts extremely if you know a little bit about Alexis’ story.”

Friday’s race was only Pinturault’s eighth return to the slopes since his 11-month layoff with his ACL injury.

It’s understood that Pinturault will now travel to France to receive treatment for his new injuries.

The superstar’s teammate Florian Loriot also crashed at the same spot and was airlifted away with unknown injuries.

While Italian skier Dominik Paris and Austrians Lukas Feurstein and Otmar Striedinger were also involved in crashes.

However, the pair appeared to avoid any serious injuries.

Iconic Japanese sports car ‘all but confirmed’ for return – some 18 years after it was discontinued

AN ICONIC Japanese sports car has all but been confirmed for a long-anticipated return – some 18 years after it last rolled off the production line.

The Toyota MR2, the lightweight, two-seat, mid-engined sports car that ran over three generations from 1984 until 2007 is almost certainly making a comeback.

But now it’s all but confirmed to return as part of Toyota’s Gazoo Racing sub-brand[/caption]

According to Auto Express, Toyota has all but confirmed it is working on a mid-engined sports car under the Gazoo Racing sub-brand.

Rumours of the model’s return have been around for months; we first reported on it in May 2024, when Japanese motoring magazine Best Car reported that the new car could represent the relaunch of the legendary MR2.

But a press conference at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon earlier this month revealed solid plans that the car will be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

This will likely be a new ‘G20E’ petrol engine which was seen in the GR Yaris M Concept revealed at this year’s Auto Salon.

The engine’s output has yet to be confirmed, but Toyota says it’s aiming for the new G20E to be more powerful than the current 2.4-litre turbo found in Toyota and Lexus models overseas.

Previously, Toyota’s plan was to launch an all-electric sports car that would’ve presumably rivalled upcoming models set to be released by the likes of Lotus, Porsche and Alpine.

Speaking to Auto Express, Toyota GR engineering boss Naohiko Saito said: “This engine represents the beginning of a new development that will come from motorsport before we put it into production.

“We always learn lots with this way of working.”

This means prototypes of the GR Yaris M Concept will race in the Japanese Super Taikyu series.

This will give the new engine plenty of room for development before it’s used in road cars, and is a similar way the brand prepared the Lexus LFA supercar.

Launched in 1984, the MR2 was the brainchild of the Toyota’s design whizz Akio Yoshida.

It was born out of a 1976 concept intended to create a motor which would prioritise driver enjoyment while remaining strong on price and fuel economy.

The result was a revolution, with the MR2 becoming the first rear-mid-engined production car in Japan, meaning the engine was located just behind the rear passenger seats.

The model was eventually discontinued in 2007 amid falling sales.

The timing of the MR2’s return comes as Toyota are bidding a fond farewell to the monstrous GR Supra – but not before giving it one last hurrah.

The iconic sports car that’s adored by petrolheads was first released in 2019 as the Japanese brand’s fifth iteration of the model – some 17 years after it was last pulled from the market (we see a pattern emerging).

Now it’s set for retirement once again, but not before giving petrolheads one final treat with a 429bhp special edition model – revealed back in November – boasting aggressive new stylings and a race-inspired cockpit.

Known as the A90 Final Edition, numbers will of course be limited – with just 300 units to be sold globally.

Spotify listeners have just days to claim Playlist in a Bottle that’s ‘better than Wrapped’ before it disappears forever

SPOTIFY subscribers who built a Playlist in a Bottle a year ago have just days to claim it, before it disappears forever.

The musical time capsule feature gave listeners the chance to select songs they love in January 2024, to reopen 12 months later.

“The interactive in-app experience is the perfect time capsule to remember and reflect on the music you loved and how your taste may have evolved over the past 365 days,” Spotify writes in a blog post.

Each playlist is built by asking users a series of questions, such as: “A song you’d play for aliens if they visited Earth,” “A song you need to hear live in 2024” or “A song you’re going to kiss someone to this year.”.

The songs in answer to these questions are what form the capsule mixtape.

Users can even write a little message to their future selves.

Spotify users have been able to unseal their Playlist in a Bottle since the first week of January.

But listeners who haven’t claimed theirs yet, must do so now, or risk losing it.

Spotify will only keep hold of your Playlist in a Bottle until 31 January.

If you haven’t saved it to your playlists by that date, then it will vanish.

Spotify introduced the hit-feature in 2023.

And following an underwhelming Wrapped 2024 event, it has received even more praise.

“I just opened the Spotify Playlist in a Bottle feature and it made me laugh, cry, and smile. 10/10 feature,” one user wrote on X.

Another added: “I just got my Playlist in a Bottle! I like this feature a lot more than Spotify Wrapped. It feels a lot more interactive!”

Find your Playlist in a Bottle

Spotify’s Playlist in a Bottle is available to both Spotify free and premium users.

To find it, simply visit spotify.com/playlistinabottle on your iPhone or Android device.

Next, click “Claim Your Playlist” to see which songs you sealed away in January 2024.

Out There star has VERY famous Hollywood actor dad – as ITV co-star Martin Clunes defends nepo-baby’s casting

ONE of the stars of Out There has a VERY famous Hollywood actor dad – but can you guess who it is?

It comes as leading actor Martin Clunes defended the nepo-baby’s casting in the new ITV drama.

Out There sees Doc Martin star Martin, 63, plays a Welsh farmer named Nathan Williams.

The new drama sees Nathan’s quiet rural way of life threatened when a drug cartel begins operating in his small town.

To make matters worse the single parent’s only child, Johnny, becomes involved in the criminal gang.

In Out There Martin Clunes’ son is played by Louis Ashbourne Serkis.

Some fans my recognise the actor’s surname, as he is in fact Lord Of The Rings star Andy Serkis‘ son, with his mum being actress Lorraine Ashbourne.

Best known for playing Gollum, Louis’ dad is has appeared in many HUGE Hollywood movies including King Kong and Planet of the Apes.

While his mother has starred in top TV dramas like Cheat and Sherwood.

However, actor Martin has defended casting Louis, who starred in his first TV show when he was 10, after “nepo-baby” accusations.

Speaking to Sky News, the Men Behaving Badly star said: “I was involved in [Serkis’s] casting, so it was just like, ‘Oh, this is Andy and Lorraine’s boy. Oh, that’s interesting, but if he’s no good, he won’t get the gig’.”

Continuing, Martin added: “You’ve got to punch your weight, cos that’s how it works, I think the industry is too on-show to carry a dolt.

“If someone was awful at it and they just got the gig because of whose child they were, it would really show, and you’d mess your project up.”

It comes as viewers were left stunned at the opening scenes of Out There.

The first episode aired last Sunday and the audience at home was left shocked by the grim and gruesome opening scenes.

After he received a distressing phone call, Martin’s character Nathan drove out to a farm to find his friend, and a fellow farmer, threatening to kill himself.

Nathan pleaded with his pal Owen not to do it.

But the next thing that was heard was a shotgun fired, and he had taken his own life.

The gruesome scene sent viewers flocking to social media to share their feelings on the show.

“I know they advertised this as ‘gritty’ but this is depressing,” explained one viewer.

Another added: “Think this might be too stressful #outthere.”

“A bit topical and close to home this with farm land worries and suicides,” added a third.
