‘Murdered’ schoolgirl’s devastated mum’s ‘world ended’ when ‘beautiful’ six-year-old found dead with dad

A DEVASTATED mum’s “world has ended” after her six-year-old daughter was discovered dead in a house with her dad.

The bodies of Hope and Mark Gordon, 36, were found inside a family home in West Calder, West Lothian, after a concern was raised when she failed to attend school.

Cops initially said both deaths were “unexplained” but, following a post mortem, officers said they were treating the schoolgirl’s death as murder.

Her father’s death is still unexplained but police said they do not believe anyone else was involved in the crime.

A close friend of the family, Melanie Wheeldon, has said the youngster’s mother now faces “the worst time of her life” as she grieves the deaths.

She told MailOnline: “It is the worst time of her life. She’s just really sad. Her world has ended because of this… She (Hope) was so loved and didn’t deserve any of this.

“She was really well liked by everybody. She was out playing and building snowmen just two weeks ago, just a normal little kid, who didn’t deserve this.”

Hope, who attended Toronto Primary School, which paid tribute to her this week, had gone to stay with her 36-year-old father for the weekend.

Mark and Hope’s mother had shared custody of the youngster, it is understood.

There had been no suggestion that anything was amiss, making the discovery all the more shocking for her friends, family, and neighbours.

Melanie told the outlet: “There was no indication that anything was wrong. It came completely out of the blue. We are all just really shocked.”

Friends say Hope loved animals and had a pet cat called Roblox and a dog Milo at the house she shared with her mum.

The grieving parent is said to have had a “beautiful relationship” with her daughter.

In an effort to help the grieving family Melanie has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.

“Every contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser link with your friends and family to help spread the word,” said Melanie.

The local community has been left in shock, with neighbours saying they cannot believe the young girl’s life has been so abruptly taken.

Detectives investigating the death revealed that officers had previous “contact” with the family.

Detective Superintendent Grant Hendry, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with Hope’s family and friends, along with everyone affected by this tragedy.

“The families are understandably devastated and we are providing them with support through specialist officers at this extremely difficult time.

“Our team of officers continue to carry out enquiries to get answers for the families and at this time, we have no information to suggest anyone else is involved. I would ask that anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it is, gets in touch with the police.”

Speaking earlier in the week, Hope’s headteacher Fiona Linfoot described her as ‘bright, bubbly and affectionate’.

She said: “Hope was a much-loved member of the Toronto Primary family, and will be hugely missed by all her friends and school staff.

“She was a bright, bubbly and affectionate girl who brought joy to everyone she met. We will really miss her infectious smile and kind heart.

“We would ask everyone to respect the privacy of her family and the school community at this difficult time. Help and support is available to any of our pupils, or staff, affected by this tragic news.”

Police Scotland Chief Superintendent Gregg Banks said earlier: “The shock and sadness felt across West Lothian is understandable. Words won’t take that anxiety and concern away.

“But I want to reassure people this is an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to members of the public at this time.

“We are working tirelessly to understand what happened within the property and answer questions from devastated family members.”

He is the fourth Englishman at the Rossoneri, joining striker Tammy Abraham, defender Fikayo Tomori and midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The six-time Premier League champion will wear the same number on his back as Becks, who scored twice in 33 times for the club whilst on loan from LA Galaxy in the 2009-10 season.

Walker, 34, said: “I chose number 32 for David Beckham.

“Tammy told me I should come. He helped me make a decision.

“The Milan fans here are incredible, hearing them sing, it will be emotional.”

Abraham, 27, has played for Milan since the start of the season, joining the club on loan from Roma.

Milan – who are eighth in Serie A and sixth in the Champions League table – face Parma on Sunday at the iconic San Siro.

Walker, who has appeared 93 times for England, is not expected to play as he needs to complete work-permit details but could appear against Inter in the Milan Derby next weekend.

“To play alongside so many talented players has pushed me to be the best version of myself, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity.

“To my team-mates, from the moment I walked through the door I felt at home. Thank you for the great memories and for all the success we have shared together.

Iconic 500-year-old pub in UK’s ‘poshest’ town loved by Premier League stars suddenly SHUTS…with ‘cheap locals to blame’

AN ICONIC 500-year-old pub in the UK’s poshest town has suddenly shut – with the area’s “cheap locals to blame”.

The historic 500-year-old Windmill Inn pub – a hotspot for well-heeled residents in Linton, North Yorks – shut down suddenly when its landlords called last orders this week.

Locals in Leeds’ richest enclave – where sprawling mansions sell for millions – were accused of failing to support the pub after its much-loved landlady moved on last year.

They were said to have “turned their back” on the boozer when new managers took over, with one punter telling Sun Online: “They’ll splash cash on their swimming pools but won’t stump up for a pint.”

But the claim sparked uproar among well-off locals who said they were loyal until the last drop, and are now rallying to rescue their cherished watering hole.

Jill Cooper, of Linton Residents Association, said: “The people that came in had never run a pub before. They had no experience. They put a manager in place to run the pub, but they weren’t very hands-on.

“It was never [about] the price of the drinks. There were a number of changes of manager since last May which didn’t help but the locals all remained loyal, as it was still a great place to get together and socialise.

“When they decided to put in a new chef and changed the menu, put up the prices and tried to go upmarket, in my opinion, that is when it started to go wrong.”

Ms Cooper added: “It is the first time the pub has shut in its entire history. It is a huge part of village life – the pub is at centre of the community.

“People went there for a social chat, to catch up over a drink. Not just for lunches or dinner.

“I could go in the that pub as a woman and feel safe, and that’s not always the case.

“There was always someone there that I knew and the staff were amazing.

“It’s really, really devastating news.”

Walking through the village with friends, John Fear said: “It’s a lovely old pub and you’d think there’d be enough money around here to support it.

“Maybe it’s the culture. People are working from home and drinking less. Everything changed after Covid.

“It would be great if the millionaires chipped in to bring it back.”

Linton, once home to former Leeds United stars Rio Ferdinand, Jonathan Woodgate and Lee Bowyer, is one of the most exclusive areas in Yorkshire.

Stone-built mansions are on the market for upwards of £2.5m, with the average detached home fetching £775,000.

Behind high hedges and grand gates, the full extent of its lavish properties are hidden from public view.

But drone images reveal the level of affluence which reportedly once drew Only Fools And Horses star David Jason and Desperate Housewives’ Teri Hatcher to call the village home.

As Porsches, Lamborghinis and top-end Range Rovers drove past The Windmill, Mike Jamieson, 57, said the village was mourning its closure.

He said: “The pub was very popular. It was the centre of the community and there’s a lot of concern that it’s shut.

The fear is that the pub gets mothballed, the windows get boarded up and then at some point it’s sold off

Jill Cooper

“We’re all just hoping it will reopen. It would be a great miss.

“There’s been a change in management in the last year. The long-term landlady moved out and new tenants came in.

“But you’ve got to know what you’re doing, running a pub.

“Everybody wants to see it back open again.”

The historic watering hole – which dates back to 1564 – was a cornerstone of village life, with the local ski club holding its meetings there to plan their next foreign getaways.

But skyrocketing costs seemingly made it impossible for the owners to keep it running.

The Windmill’s general manager, named only as Craig, told Leeds Live: “It’s come to the end of the contract with the people here, at the moment. They just didn’t want to continue.

“It’s just the industry as a whole. I’ve been doing this for 37 years and have never seen anything like it. I’ve got three friends who have closed their pubs in the last four weeks. They’re staffed all over Yorkshire and they’re very successful pubs.

“We’re at that pinnacle of this is the most you’re going to make and you get towards April with all the inflation increases is not going to help. The industry as a whole has been struggling since Covid.”

Super-rich villagers could now plot a dramatic comeback by pooling their deep pockets to buy the pub themselves.

The Linton Residents’ Association has written to owner Heineken to ask what they plan to do – but buying the pub is “on the table” if it does not reopen.

Mrs Cooper said: “We are hoping that Heineken will find new, experienced tenants quickly and reopen the pub.

“But they are a huge company and The Windmill may just be a small pinprick for them.

“The fear is that the pub gets mothballed, the windows get boarded up and then at some point it’s sold off.

“That’s what we cannot allow to happen.”

I know it has a reputation as being a very rich area but there’s a really thriving community. Most of the people here are very lovely

Gill Sirmaloglou

Outside the pub, would-be customers turned up unaware that the pub had shut its doors.

Gill Sirmaloglou, 70, had received advance notice and said: “I was supposed to go for lunch today but they cancelled my booking, which is a shame.

“It was under relatively new management and maybe it wasn’t quite working out for them.

“It would be great it the locals came together to save it. That would be fantastic.”

Despite Linton’s posh reputation, locals insist the village isn’t just for the rich.

Ms Sirmaloglou, from neighbouring Collingham, added: “The village is gorgeous. The houses are beautiful and it gives the impression of being a very prosperous area. But the people who live here aren’t snobby.

“When I’m walking the dog, people will often stop for a chat.

“I know it has a reputation as being a very rich area but there’s a really thriving community. Most of the people here are very lovely.”

Felicity, who moved to Linton from Leeds to raise her four-year-old daughter, admitted she worried the villagers would be “snobby” when house-hunting.

But she said: “There’s definitely a good community here. When we moved I was fearful that it was going to be a snobby village because you get that impression.

“But everyone has been super friendly.

“If we move, then we would stay local. But houses don’t come on the market very often.”

Ms Cooper agreed, adding: “It’s not a snobby place. A lot of people developed their wealth from fairly ordinary circumstances, rather than old money.

“Linton’s got a very good community. If you walk around the village there are lots of houses with big gates but the people are very friendly and down-to-earth.

The Windmill Inn has been approached for comment.

Now the trailer for her furst acting gig since leaving the soap has landed.

Lorraine stars alongside other soap legends in gritty British film Departures.

She’s joined by Hollyoaks hunk David Tag and Coronation Street‘s Kimberly Hart-Simpson.

The movie is described as “Shirley Valentine meets LGBTQ Trainspotting” and details the “toxic love story” of Benji [played by writer and co-director Lloyd Eyre-Morgan] and Jake [David Tag].

Lorraine stars as Benji’s mum in the flick, which will have its debut screening at the Manchester Film Festival in March.

She previously spoke to The Sun about her new role and said: “Janet doesn’t mince her words and back in her day it would have been a bit of a shock if someone was openly gay, people didn’t really come out like they do today.

“She’s had to learn along the way and be taught the things you can say and the things you can’t say. She’s got a colourful vocabulary!

Discussing his character Luke, David, 39, said: “He’s a straight, married man who has got a child on the way but it’s almost like he’s trying to find that thrill from somebody so he’s living a double life.”

And Lorraine explained that her character Janet has experienced her own hardships in life.

As well as coming to terms with Benji’s sexuality, Janet has dealt with domestic violence in the past.

Lorraine said: “She was subject to domestic violence when Benji was growing up which was hard. She does blame herself a little bit for that.”

And, while the movie isn’t set to be released until next year, both Lorraine and David insist they would be up for shooting a sequel.

Lorraine joked: “Oh definitely, we all want a sequel – it’s another job!”

We sold our seaside home to move into a tiny canal boat… freezing temps trap us on board but we save £1,000s on rent

A COUPLE who sold their seaside home and moved into a tiny canal boat have revealed how they save £1,000s on their rent.

Ula and Josh left life in Hastings, East Sussex, behind in December 2022 and made the major move to their 60ft narrowboat.

Ula and Josh left their seaside home in Hastings to move into canal boat in December 2022[/caption]

Their decision meant they joined an estimated 30,000 others who currently live on waterways across the UK.

In a YouTube video posted to their 37,000 subscribers, the couple took a tour of their much-loved boat ahead of its sale.

The pair showed how well utilised their space is, with a diesel heater nestled near the kitchen acting also as a way to boil water in their kettle.

Inside, the space is efficiently furnished, with a coat rack and storage space kept right at the doorway of the stern.

The video also took viewers through six days of being “frozen in”, where they were trapped inside the boat due to cold winter weather.

However, the couple revelled in the situation and enjoyed “hunkering down” in their boat.

The couple’s kitchen features modern furnishings as well as a pull out storage space that also acts as a table.

They also managed to fit a comfortable and smart bed space as well as a spacious bathroom and shower.

Moving towards the bow, the couple showed their living room area, kitted out with stylish sofas, a wood burning stove, and elegant wooden furniture.

In another video, they also explained how much they saved with their new style of living on their boat named Inca.

Six months after making the move, the couple upgraded their canal boat in order for it to be full off-grid, meaning they were free from energy bills.

Ula said: “We are completely set up with enough power to continuously cruise and be able to power our laptops, charge our cameras – do everything that we need to do for our work and for YouTube.

“We’re all set comfortably now.

“[It’s] a massive weight off our shoulders.”

They did so by installing two solar panels, a pair of lithium batteries, and a range of other controllers to help generate electricity efficiently.

Combined fuel and energy costs onboard narrowboats typically cost around £1000 per year, according to insure4boats.

Rules on living in a canal boat

IF YOU are interested in living in a canal boat there are some rules you have to follow

You can live on a moored canal boat so long as you follow mooring rules.

While short term mooring is allowed on most canal towpaths, no boat can moor for more than two weeks, or even just a few days in some areas.

While long term moorings are where most boaters pay to keep their boats – and they can be kept there long term – you are not usually allowed to live on the boat for more than a few days a week.

Residential moorings are needed if you want to live aboard your boat anywhere on the canals for more than a few days whilst staying in one place or area.

Continuous cruising follows on from that, allowing you to live on your boat so long as you keep moving, although you are not allowed to “shuffle” between nearby short term moorings.

While home mooring may seem the easiest option, many may opt for continuous cruising as there is not an abundance of permanent mooring locations, especially in major cities.

The cost of a continuous cruising licence, without any discounts, is likely to cost over £1,000 per year but can still serve as a huge saving compared to typical home renting prices.

The typical cost of a canal boat itself is estimated to be £57,000, around five times cheaper than the average UK home.

Their home could sleep up to four adults and had “plenty of storage”.

Overall, living on a canal boat can often be cheaper than traditional living methods, with monthly total expenditures estimated to be £714.66, according to insure4boat.

This includes more than £100 monthly on a Canal & River Trust Licence as well as £314.67 on mooring, £52 on maintenance, and £25 on energy costs.

In comparison, the average UK household spends nearly four times as much on monthly expenses, according to NimbleFins.

While Ula and Josh vlogged countless episodes of their boat life, the pair unexpectedly announced last year that they were selling their 60ft 1989 cruiser stern for £57,000.

Ula said: “We’ve had the most wonderful time living on the boat, it’s been an epic adventure.

“We’ve learnt so much about boating and so much about ourselves and each other.”

The 54-year-old has been inspired by the rise of Luke Littler – and the way he plays[/caption]

Wright enjoyed a mini resurgence at last month’s PDC World Championship after reaching the quarter-final stage.

The 54-year-old knocked out defending champion Humphries and looked back to his best at Ally Pally.

It came after a horror show at the Premier League of Darts, with Wright almost walking away from the game altogether.

The Scot endured a nightmare two-year run in the competition – winning two of 18 matches – and looked like a shell of his former self.

Wright has now vowed to have a total clearout of his prizes – and has hailed Littler, 18, and World No .1 Cool Hand as his inspiration.

Snakebite told the PDC: “I watched the World Championship after I got knocked out.

“Luke Littler and Luke Humphries inspired me with what they did.

“Especially Luke Humphries with what he’s won over the last four months.

“It proves what you can do and achieve if you put the hard work in.

“Luke Littler is the best thing I’ve ever seen on TV! That’s why he has inspired me to get my finger out.”

Wright decided to part with all his past trophies, built up over two decades.

He continued: “I have got rid of all my trophies, got rid of all my darts, so I can start afresh.

“I want new trophies this year. Last year was terrible and the year before that was terrible.

“But I’m looking forward to playing this year.

“I took time off last year and it didn’t work, we saw that in the Premier League.

“This year I am hitting everything again.”

Luke Littler prize money breakdown

Here is all the prize money Luke Littler has won so far after being crowned 2025 PDC World Darts Championship winner:

World Championship 2025 – £500,000

World Championship 2024 – £200,000

Grand Slam of Darts 2024 – £150,000

European Tour – £91,000

Player Championships events – £71,500

Players Championship final runner-up – £60,000

UK Open 2023 + 2024 – £17,500

World Matchplay – £10,000

World Grand Prix – £7,500

European Championship – £7,500

(Unranked) Premier League Darts – £315,000

TOTAL: £1.43 million

Wright, a former Masters and World Matchplay winner, has racked up over £4million in prize money over the years.

But it’s trophies he’s after in 2025 – to fill up his now empty cabinet.

He added: “Fingers crossed my mindset is to use one set of darts.

“If I can manage that all year, I’ll be happy and I will be a big threat to everyone.”

KYLIE Jenner oozed glam as she flashed her wet-look bra and thong under an oversized jacket in a sizzling new photoshoot.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star gave a glimpse of her washboard abs in the faux leather two-piece – despite recent pregnancy speculation and fans claiming to spot a “bump.”

Kylie, 27, is no stranger to modelling garments from her own clothing line[/caption]

Mom of two Kylie, 27, paired her plunging bar with a high-waisted thong and tights.

She kept her make-up natural and raven locks in loose waves for the shoot, covering up in the floor-length trench coat to complete the sexy sophisticated look.

The Hulu star first struck a sassy pose with her hand on her left hip before standing side-profile to give a full look at her silhouette, as well as her towering stiletto heels.

The third snap saw her tease open her jacket a little more for a full glimpse at her honed figure.

In the snaps, posted to her Instagram page, Kylie proved the perfect model for her new Khy clothing collection.

She wrote in the caption: “The new KHY Faux Leather Trench Coat has arrived, perfectly paired with our new Faux Leather Twist Bralette.

“Both dropping 01/28 exclusively on khy.com.”

One fan was quick to gush: “Our queen is slaying endlessly.”

A second then put: “You continue to level up!!!!” as a third posted: “Hot hot.”

One then bluntly wrote: “Obsessed.”

Her big sister Khloe Kardashian then supportively put: “Wowwww.”

Just last month, the Kylie Cosmetics founder stripped to a bikini to further promote her Khy line.

Previously, she donned a plunging green dress from her trend-setting collection.

More about Kylie's brand, Khy

On October 24, 2023, Kylie posted a photo on her Instagram wearing a black leather trench coat with the caption: “Meet khy.”

Jens and Emma Grede, the same husband-and-wife duo behind Khloé Kardashian’s Good American and Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS, are said to be involved with the brand.

Kylie stated that the clothing line, a play on her nickname, will offer fashion-forward threads at a more accessible price point than typical designer brands.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Kylie said: “The whole line is really inspired by my personal wardrobe, and the different moods that I’m in…[the first drop] is very King Kylie–who I am at my core.”

The venture is her newest, though not only foray into fashion.

She also collaborates with her sister Kendall Jenner on their clothing line Kendall + Kylie, sold at lifestyle retail brand PacSun.

Jenner previously launched Kylie Swim in September 2021 to lackluster reviews before filing new trademarks for the brand in November 2022.

Her first Khy collection was released on November 1, 2023.

So far, she has released four collections underneath her brand.

The global superstar launched her clothing company last year.

She previously collaborated with French designer Atlein for some of the stylish frocks on sale.

COVERING UP?

Yet after a cosy recent holiday in Aspen, fans claimed to have spotted Kylie sporting a “bump” when she stepped out in a coat and jeans.

In the lavush ski location, Kylie met big sister Kendall Jenner for lunch where the suggestions again reared their head.

“Kylie in Aspen- looks like a bump orrr is that just her black bag?!” asked one person in a Kardashian-dedicated Reddit group

“It’s her bag,” commented one person, “In another post she’s carrying this big ass bag and if you look at the waist band of her jeans you can see they go past what looks like to be a bump.”

It came after she responded to pregnancy rumors with a romantic dinner with boyfriend Timothée Chalamet.

Speculation has been rife that the pair could be expecting a child together.

At the start of the year, fans were convinced that Kylie was pregnant with Timothée’s baby after she “covered her stomach” in a video.

Kylie, who is already mom to two children, has been dating the Dune star for almost two years.

According to a source who recently dished on the couple’s relationship, Kylie “definitely sees a future with him” and “feels like Timothée is so different from all her other exes.”

Kylie’s romance with Timothée has been pretty lowkey, with the couple seemingly keen to keep it under wraps as much as they can.

Speaking to British Vogue about why privacy is important to her, Kylie said: “Privacy is so important to me in life.”

The star of The Kardashians has two children with rapper Travis Scott: Stormi Webster, who is six, and Aire Webster, who is two.

The Belarussian world No.1 – champion Down Under in 2023 and 2024 – destroyed her equipment in a moment of rage as Keys cried with her family and friends on the Rod Laver Arena.

Sabalenka, 26, said: “I’ll come back stronger and do my best next year.

“I did my best but Madison was incredible. I couldn’t do anything in this match. Next time we play, I’ll bring better tennis.

“Madison, wow, what a tournament, you have been fighting really hard to get this trophy.”

While she also took a cheeky swipe at her coaching team after the defeat.

Speaking live on TV she said: “Should I say anything to my team? As always, that’s your fault guys. I don’t wanna see you for the next week. I really hate you.

“No, thank you so much for everything you do for me blah blah blah.”

Keys – who beat world No.2 Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals – is coached by her husband and had to contend with a nasty hamstring injury last summer.
