A CARE worker has said his house was wrecked after thugs crashed into his living room with a stolen car.
Ibrar Hussain, 43, was left unhurt despite being inside his east Manchester home when the black Mercedes-Benz smashed into it.
Emergency services descended on Harrop Street in Abbey Hey at around 6.15am on Saturday.
Cops said the car was reported stolen from a house on nearby Butterton Drive.
Ibrar, who moved to the UK from Pakistan in 2010, told the Manchester Evening News: “There was a big bang.
“I thought it could have been the storm or something falling on the roof.
“The whole house shook like there’d been an earthquake. I looked out of the window and shouted for help.
“Then I looked down and saw the car inside my house, saw two guys smash its windows, jump out and run off in opposite directions.”
Luckily he had dropped his five-year-old son off at his mothers’ house the night before.
But Ibrar said he was about to sell his semi but can’t now because he doesn’t have insurance.
Images show the front of the property severely damaged after the Merc careered into it.
GMP said a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary; and a number of driving offences.
Police are trying to find a second man believed to have fled the scene.
The car was removed from the scene at around 9.45am.
A GMP spokesperson said: “A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and several driving offences, after a car was reported stolen from an address on Butterton Drive and subsequently crashed into a property on Harrop Street shortly before 6.15am today (Saturday, January 25 2025).
“Another man is thought to have fled from the scene and we are actively pursuing enquiries to identify and locate this individual.
“Thankfully no-one was reported injured in the collision, however significant damage was caused to the property.
“Colleagues from GMFRS and other agencies are supporting at the scene.”
A GMFRS spokesperson added: “At around 6.25am on Saturday, January 25, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Harrop Street, Manchester.
“Two fire engines from Gorton station, as well as the technical rescue unit from Ashton, were quickly mobilised to the scene, where a car had crashed into a semi-detached house.
“GMFRS crews remain at the scene, working alongside Greater Manchester Police, Cadent Gas and Manchester City Council to make the building safe.”

An ex-Army Westland Lynx helicopter that served in Afghanistan has been converted into a tiny home.
The chopper has been listed on Airbnb as a unique glamping space for your next staycation.
For just £81 per night, two people can stay inside the helicopter located in the old RAF Wainfleet base in Lincolnshire.
The helicopter hosted by “superhost” Diana has a sofa bed with space for two, underfloor heating and a television.
Even the cockpit is still intact so you can sit up front with the controls.
Outside the helicopter is a spacious decking area with a fire pit for cosy evenings.
There are separate kitchen and bathroom facilities.
The Airbnb description states: “If you enjoy camping and small space living and are looking for a quirky place to stay our helipod ticks all the boxes.”
The chopper is a firm favourite with an average guest rating of 4.87 out of 5.
One happy guest called it the “great dream maker.”
She wrote: “This place is a great gem and a brilliant gift for any man-child you may own, a great dream maker.
“Everything you need is onsite and close by the site is very peaceful and quiet My man-child can’t wait to go again in the future, maybe in the other accommodation on site.”
“Amazing weekend in the helicopter. Such quiet surroundings,” another wrote.
“Easy to find. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. The helicopter was spotless, as were the grounds it is located in.
“Can’t wait to return and try the other quirky accommodation.”
A third added: “Absolutely amazing, for anyone wanting a glamping experience with a unique feel, one of Diana’s military vehicles is a must. I couldn’t pass the opportunity to treat my kids to a stay in a helicopter (I also booked the tank too) – such a great treat and so much character – we had a great weekend.”

Brit & her fiance found dead in Vietnam villa after drinking ‘homemade’ limoncello from local restaurant on X-mas Eve
A BRIT and her fiance died on Boxing Day after suffering methanol poisoning from “homemade” limoncello, according to Vietnamese cops.
Newly engaged couple Greta Marie Otteson, 33, and Arno Els Quinton, 36, are believed to have ordered two bottles of the contaminated liqueur from a local restaurant on Christmas Eve.
Both bodies were found in separate rooms inside a villa by shocked cleaners two days later.
Cops immediately launched an investigation into the deaths with officers saying they found empty bottles inside the rooms.
Tests later concluded both died of methanol poisoning, believed to be linked to the tainted limoncello, according to Vietnamese police.
A source close to the family of the couple told The Times: “Police forensics established the limoncello, which had been delivered, was the source.”
They added that Greta spent Christmas complaining to her parents over WhatsApp about having the “worst hangover ever”.
The Welsh woman was also suffering from “black spots” in her vision, the source said.
The couple reportedly tried to “sleep it off” instead of going to the doctors despite being urged to by pals.
The source continued: “A local bar owner and a fantastic friend called over and wanted to take them to hospital but they refused.
“Sadly I think it was too late by then.”
The pair are said to have gone out for dinner on December 24, before returning back to the holiday villa which they own at around 10pm.
Two bottles of limoncello were waiting for them at the reception desk after being delivered earlier in the night by a different restaurant.
The business is said to be popular in the area and a photo of their menu online shows they offer the lemon liqueur at a cheap price.
They advertise a shot as costing 85,000 Vietnamese dong (£2.70) and, according to the menu, it is homemade.
It is unclear how methanol could have been inside the drinks.
The highly toxic industrial chemical is found in antifreeze and windscreen-washer fluid but also appears in some home-brewed or counterfeit alcohol.
A suspected methanol poisoning incident killed 33 people in Istanbul with 48 more hospitalised, it was reported earlier this month.
Another six people – including a Brit, died from methanol poisoning in November after drinking tainted alcohol while in Vang Vieng, Laos.
Simone White, a 28-year-old lawyer from London, was one of the victims after partygoers were allegedly handed free shots.
HUNTING FOR JUSTICE
NO arrests are understood to have been made so far in connection with the deaths of Arno or Greta.
The restaurant thought to have delivered the limoncello is also still open as usual.
Vietnamese cops say the autopsy results show they were most likely poisoned and no further charges are expected for the moment.
Despite this Greta’s dad Paul is desperate to find out who is responsible for the fatal drink.
He said: “Our aim is to bring the people who supplied the alcohol and killed Greta and Arno to justice.”
TRIBUTES FLOOD IN
Greta and Arno Els Quinton passed away less than a month after the pair got engaged.
They had moved to Vietnam together last year and settled in Hoi An.
The happy couple had taken out a lease out on the gorgeous red-roofed Silverbell Villa where they were later found dead.
It featured a nine-bedroom guesthouse with a swimming pool and sat just ten minutes from Hoi An Ancient Town – a Unesco World Heritage site.
A heartfelt Instagram post on December 3, saw the pair officially announce their engagement to the world.
Days after their bodies were discovered the pair were featured in a touching engagement video posted to YouTube.
A filming studio posted a montage they had made of the pair to celebrate their marriage.
The video shows Greta and Arno, wearing white, dancing, walking hand-in-hand, and expressing the love they shared.
Greta’s parents, Susan and Paul, also paid a touching tribute their only child as they called her “beautiful”.
The statement continued: “Both Greta and Arno were experienced worldwide travellers.
“They found their perfect home and were incredibly happy with their life in Vietnam, planning for the future.”
Paul, originally from Swansea, added: “We were so happy she picked Arno. He was such a lovely boy. Arno was a great musician, composer and lyricist.
“They bought a second-hand bike and were so proud. Susan told Greta, ‘Make sure it’s red for Wales’.
“They were a loving couple with their life ahead of them. The tributes we have had from around the world are unbelievable.”
Travel lover Greta had previously lived in Dubai and backpacked around different countries in Asia before settling more recently in Vietnam.

Some may know the nickname “gate lice”, but social media users fear this new type is “exponentially worse”.
“Gate lice” refers to people who try to cut the line ahead of their assigned boarding time.
Even American Airlines attempted to knuckle down on them.
It did so by introducing a new technology that rejected a passenger’s boarding pass if they tried to board the flight before their zone was called.
But now, a new airline pest has earned a nickname – coined to describe passengers who push their way through aisles after the plane lands.
A Reddit thread on the matter has caused quite a debate.
One person described their experience, explaining how they had stood up from their aisle seat after the plane landed, only for the two people sitting nearer the window to stand up and push past.
They explained: “Not only do the two people next to me decide to stand up but some how the guy from the window seat shoves his way forward and is the first of all of us to get off the plane.”
The person added: “Serves me right for thinking FC [first class] passengers have more class and would respect some personal space and order.”
Reactions from other triggered passengers soon joined the Reddit thread.
One person commented: “Window people though need to stay put.
“I’d never work my way to the aisle even if I was a middle seat until both aisle seats in my row had cleared the way to leave.”
Followed by a second: “This used to be a budget airline problem. Now, it’s becoming more widespread.
“For me, I can tolerate gate lice slightly better because I just avoid them. You can’t avoid aisle lice. It’s right there.”
And then a third: “Aisle lice are exponentially worse imo [in my opinion].
“Who really cares who gets on the plane first, you’re all getting on anyways.
“Aisle lice slow things down, delay people and cause so much more headaches.”
Followed by a fourth: “Aisle lice. Gate lice do not bother me since most people want to get on first for the bin space.
“I blame the airlines for that. If you don’t have a tight connection or any other “emergency” then wait your turn to get off the plane.
