Everton vs Arsenal LIVE SCORE: Mikel Arteta’s side look to keep title hopes alive in tough Toffees test – updates

ARSENAL look to build on their marginal win over Fulham as they host Everton.

The Gunners will be without key figures Gabriel and Jurrien Timber, after the pair were injured in their last clash.

The Toffees are off the back of four straight draws, but have shifted themselves away from relegation contention since the return of David Moyes.

Mikel Arteta once played for Everton, but will put all nostalgia aside as he looks to close down the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Hollyoaks’ original Darren Osborne actor looks unrecognisable 28 years after soap exit and being replaced

HOLLYOAKS’ original Darren Osborne actor looks unrecognisable 28 years on from exiting and being replaced.

Ashley Taylor Dawson may be synonymous with Darren, but he did not originate the role.

Ashley Taylor Dawson took over the role in 1999[/caption]

That honour goes to Adam Booth, who debuted in November 1996 and left in 1997.

Darren’s original tenure ended by going to America after dad Jack’s cheating tore apart his family.

In the decades since leaving Hollyoaks behind, Adam has continued his acting career.

He has made appearances in The Bay, Coronation Street, Doctors and The Keith Lemon Sketch Show.

Adam has also worked extensively on stage, namely in pantomimes such as Cinderella, Peter Pan and Aladdin.

According to the actor’s Instagram, he received a gong for Best Comic at The Pantomime Awards 2023.

Sharing a photo of the prize, he captioned: “Wow! What an incredible night!

“So unbelievably proud, grateful and honoured to win ‘Best Comic’ at The Pantomime Awards 2023.

“Congratulations to all the nominees, winners, performers and presenters tonight.

He concluded: “It was a really amazing night!”

While Adam left Hollyoaks in 1997, replacement Ashley was not cast as Darren until 1999.

From there, Ashley then portrayed the role until 2001 when he left to focus on his music career.

The character Darren returned in 2003, as played by Ashley and has remained ever since.

Initially depicted as a “bad boy”, the character has matured and evolved over the years.

Some of Darren’s most notable storylines include a battle with gambling addiction.

He also previously helped dad Jack fake his death in an insurance scam.

Darren has been married to three women – Hannah Ashworth, Nancy Hayton and Mandy Richardson respectively.

Soap characters who've been recast

Soap operas are staple viewing for many people, but even some of the most famous characters have been played by different actors. Here are some examples from over the years.

Coronation Street

  • Tracy Barlow: Kate Ford took on the role of Corrie legend Tracy Barlow in 2002. Before Kate, three other actresses had played Tracy – most notably Dawn Acton from 1988 to 1999.
  • Nick Tilsley: Ben Price has been playing Gail’s oldest child in 2009, but the former Footballers’ Wives star is the third actor to take on the part.
  • Sarah Platt: Although Tina O’Brien debuted as Sarah Platt in 1999, she is the third actress who has played the iconic role of Sarah Platt.
  • David Platt: Completing the line-up of Gail’s children, David was initially played by Thomas Ormson for a decade before Jack P. Shepherd took over.
  • Daniel Osbourne: For almost a decade, the role of Ken Barlow’s son Daniel has been portrayed by actor Rob Mallard. Before Rob joined, two other actors had previously played Daniel.
  • Bethany Platt: Fans know Lucy Fallon as Bethany nowadays but before her, three other actresses had stepped into the character’s shoes.
  • Kirk Sutherland: Before Andy Whyment took on the role of Kirk, he played by an uncredited actor in his very first appearance.
  • Todd Grimshaw: Gareth Pierce stepped into the role of Todd back in 2020, becoming the second performer to play this part.
  • Summer Spellman: Harriet Bibby became the second actress to play Summer, taking over the role from Matilda Freeman in 2020.
  • Ryan Connor: Ryan Prescott currently plays the long-running character, but Ben Thompson and Sol Heras had earlier portrayed the role.

EastEnders

  • Martin Fowler: Although Martin was the first baby born on-screen in EastEnders, he hasn’t always been played by the same person. His current portrayer, James Bye, is the third actor to star as the character.
  • Peter Beale: Seven actors have portrayed Ian Beale’s elder son, with the current actor, Thomas Law, in his second stint as the character.
  • Ben Mitchell: Ben has been played by a total of six actors – with Max Bowden bowing out of the role in March 2024.
  • Bobby Beale: Before Clay Milner Russell, Ian’s younger son had been played by four other actors.
  • Freddie Slater: Bobby’s best mate, Freddie Slater, had been previously played by twins Alex and Tom Kilby before Bobby Brazier took over in 2022.
  • Chelsea Fox: Former Coronation Street actress Zaraah Abrahams took over the role of Chelsea in 2020. The character had been first played by Tiana Benjamin from 2006 to 2010.
  • Lauren Branning: Jacqueline Jossa took on the role of Lauren in 2010, succeeding Madeline Duggan who’d played her from 2006 to 2010.
  • Johnny Carter: Johnny has been played by three actors since debuting in 2013 – most recently, Charlie Suff has taken on the role.

How to find ‘hidden’ Amazon store with reduced items being sold at bargain prices

A ‘HIDDEN’ Amazon store is selling goods at bargain prices including electronics and kitchenware.

Amazon Resale, previously Amazon Warehouse, is where the online retail giant sells items that have been returned but either in great condition or only slightly damaged.

Amazon Resale gives shoppers the chance to browse returned goods[/caption]

The goods are sold at discounted prices, allowing shoppers to pick up items at a fraction of the price.

The deals available can be found on a dedicated homepage through the main Amazon site.

Amazon Resale says it “checks the quality of each item” and the condition of everything listed is ranked as “very good”, “like new”, “good”, or “acceptable”.

For example, you can buy a 2024 Amazon Echo Spot in “very good” condition can be picked up for £51.14, compared to an RRP of £79.99.

And a new 16GB Amazon Kindle in “very good” condition can be picked up for £74.39, compared to an RRP of £94.99.

The range of products listed on the site covers electronics, homeware, books, clothes and toys.

The website does take some navigating as it’s not possible to order items by discounts, but help is at hand here.

Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert has developed the Amazon Resale Discount Finder, which orders items in categories by the biggest discount.

Bear in mind that the items available are limited to what’s been returned, so if there’s a particular product you’re looking for you’ll need to monitor the site.

But once you find your item the order will be fulfilled by Amazon, so it will be eligible for Prime delivery.

And, Amazon Resale has the same returns policy as the regular site, although it may not be able to offer like-for-like replacements.

What do the categories mean when shopping on Amazon Warehouse

YOU can get great bargains on Amazon Warehouse's website but some items might not be brand new.

Here we explain what what the different categories mean when you are shopping on the Amazon Warehouse.

Used – Like New

  • If your item has been given this rating, it means it is in “perfect working condition”, Amazon says.
  • The item works as it should and no accessories are missing
  • The packaging may be damaged slightly

Used – Very Good

  • This means your item has not been used very much and fully functions, Amazon says
  • The item may have minor imperfections and may arrive in damaged packaging
  • Some non-essential accessories might be missing, but these will be outlined in the item’s description online

Used – Good

  • Your item may have already been used moderately but is fully functioning
  • It may show signs of wear and tear but should be minor, and the item’s packaging may be damaged
  • The item may be missing some valuable accessories, and it might not work until you’ve purchased those accessories separately

Used – Acceptable

  • The item will have “clear signs of usage”, Amazon says, but still works
  • It may show signs of previous wear and tear, such as scratches, dents and worn corners or edges
  • It could come in damaged packaging and could be missing valuable accessories – which means it may not work until these parts are purchased separately

There are other ways to save money at Amazon including the Amazon Outlet, which is essentially a site compiling the items that are on sale.

Unlike renewed, all items are new — but have had prices slashed to help shift stock.

Prices across Amazon do change regularly so it’s worth keeping watch to see if the amounts being charged for goods on your wish list fall.

To do this you can use price watch site uk.camelcamelcamel.com, which will notify you by email when the cost of an item you want is slashed.

The same website also features a price history of millions of items so you can check if you are getting a good deal.

It’s also important to remember that you can’t assume that Amazon offers the best prices.

Shopping comparison sites such as pricerunner.com and kelkoo.co.uk will help show the cheapest items all over the internet.

Our neighbour’s 6ft garden fence is a ‘MONSTROSITY’ – it’s like living next to a prison…we’re determined to tear it down

DISGRUNTLED neighbours have slammed a “monstrosity” six foot garden fence next door.

Locals in the leafy suburb of Mornington Crescent, in Nuthall, Nottingham, have hit out at the large boundary wall ever since it was built last year.

Residents are fuming with Broxtowe Borough Council after they granted planning permission.

But the homeowner involved, Jonathan Lewis, dubbed the ordeal an “utter overreaction”.

He told Nottinghamshire Live they’ve “followed the rules to the absolute letter”.

“In my opinion it looks really nice and it’s completely lawful,” Jonathan added.

However, outraged neighbour Anthony Wilson, 58, is determined to see the wall torn down.

He claimed the six-foot boundary was constructed higher than proposed, and closer to the pavement.

“What has happened is an absolute travesty. Mornington Crescent is a suburban middle-class neighbourhood,” he said.

The veteran told how 15 fellow residents had objected to the plans and added “it should never have been approved”.

Anthony argued the wall has “absolutely devastated” the estate and “destroyed” the neighbourhood’s middle-class aesthetic.

“With the monstrosity of the wall it looks like some sort of prison. It should be demolished. It’s totally obliterated the view from my house,” he added.

His strong opinions have been echoed by another local, Tony Pinkstone.

The 69-year-old said the “appalling” wall “completely destroyed” and “devalued” the street.

A spokesperson for Broxtowe Borough Council said: “The wall in question has planning permission, and the heights of both the wall and the pillars are in accordance with the approved plans. The planning application considered all relevant comments, and the case officer came to an assessment that the wall should be approved.

“It should be noted however that any legal issues or covenants are not planning matters and cannot be considered in determining this or any other planning application.

“The position of the wall has recently been amended marginally, and set away slightly from the neighbouring property, and this change has subsequently been approved as a non-material amendment to the approved plans.”

Elsewhere, a family have been left horrified after their neighbour built a “monstrous watchtower” looking directly into their daughter’s bedroom.

Plus, a Russian tycoon has finally erected a fence around his £2.8m estate after a bitter row with neighbours.

Alexander Mosionzhik sparked fury when he submitted plans to install a six foot “Berlin Wall” perimeter that locals said would resemble a “prison”.

And, this is the moment a neighbour grabs 1.9m of garden and tears down shed in a bitter dispute, a couple claimed.

How to resolve a neighbour dispute

According to Citizens Advice

Talk your neighbour

If you feel as though you can safely, you should approach your neighbour to discuss the problem first.

Take a note of the time and date you spoke to them, in case you need it for evidence later.

If you can’t speak to them face-to-face, you can write them a letter.

Tell them about the issue you would like to fix and how they can do their part.

Talk to your neighbour’s landlord

If your neighbour is a tenant, you can talk to their landlord. This could be the local council, a housing association or a private landlord.

Get support from a residents’ or tenants’ association

If there’s a residents’ or tenants’ association where you live, they might be able to offer additional support.

If more people complain, the dispute will be less personal, which may help your case.

Go though a mediation service

Mediators are independent and will listen to both sides to help you reach an agreement.

You might have to pay for mediation, but their is financial support available for those who are eligible.

Contact your local council

The local council can actually still help solve disputes between neighbours – even if the neighbours are not living in local council housing.

Contact a local councillor or MP

You can contact a local councillor or MP for help, you can find out who represents you through GOV.UK.

You can write them a letter outlining the issue, remember to keep a copy for yourself.

Contact the police

You can contact the police if a criminal offence is being committed – for example, if your neighbour is:

  • being violent or harassing you
  • making excessive noise – the police can visit the neighbour or issue fines to people who have failed to stop the noise after being asked to do so, or they can confiscate sound producing equipment

If you’re not sure whether what your neighbour is doing is a crime, contact your local council, phone 101, or contact your local police station for advice.

Consult a lawyer

You can send your neighbour a letter from a solicitor to show that you’re serious about your complaint.

A letter from a solicitor might help to explain the legal position in a dispute, for example if neighbours can’t agree about the position of a boundary.

Take legal action

Legal action should be a last resort after you’ve tried speaking to your neighbour and taking action through your local council.

Going to court might resolve the dispute but damage your relationship with your neighbours.

It’s also expensive unless you’re eligible for legal aid or are using the simple procedure

‘He played for us didn’t he?’ – Arne Slot hits back at Michael Owen’s claim that winning Prem’s not enough for Liverpool

ARNE SLOT has hit back at Michael Owen’s “strange” claim that winning the Premier League will leave a “bitter taste” for Liverpool.

The Reds went into this weekend sitting 12 points above Arsenal with just eight matches remaining.

While sitting pretty in the Premier League, Liverpool have crashed out of all three cup competitions since January.

The Reds were beaten by Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League – before losing the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle last month.

During an interview with Virgil van Dijk, former Liverpool striker Owen suggested that his former club may be left with a “bitter taste” from only winning the Prem this season.

Reds skipper Van Dijk immediately hit back, however, saying: “Well, I think we have to change that narrative a little bit.

“We’re fighting for the biggest prize of the season, we worked so hard for it, 20 teams are working so hard to be on top of the Premier League.

“We have eight games to go, we know what’s at stake, we have to go for it, we have to fight, we have to enjoy the whole ride and then let’s see. Like I said, it’s still looking very special in my eyes.

“I think what you said, at the start of the season, I think no one expected us to even try to fight on all four fronts, obviously we’re at the stage now where we’re still fighting for the biggest, and that’s the reality.

“It’s still a possibility that this season will be very, very special.”

Ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Fulham tomorrow, Slot backed up his captain.

The 46-year-old said: “Let me understand it right, Virgil was a bit frustrated because it came across as it’s not enough to ‘only’ win the Premier League?

“Michael (Owen) played for us, didn’t he? So he is aware of the fact that in 35 years we won the league once?

“There is your answer. If you can win the league with this club then, phew, nothing else matters. If you do it 10 times in a row then I could understand that people say, ‘Oh but you only win the Premier League’.

“At this club, you can compete for it and let alone win it, then it is a strange question to ask in my opinion.

“If Virgil has this opinion as well then I agree with him. I follow the Dutch media a bit more than the media here and… no, let’s leave it!

“I think the league is better than it ever was, the strength overall is getting better.

“I think even Pep (Guardiola) said there will not be a team again as long as he lives that gets more than 100 points and wins the league four times in a row.”

Slot will still be without Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez for tomorrow’s trip to Fulham.

But Alisson and Conor Bradley have trained and could be in line to return.
