I won £20k on a reality show last year but now I’m poor, unemployed and living back with my parents
A CONTESTANT on a TV reality show won 20k last year but he is now poor, unemployed and living back with his parents.
Social worker, Dan made it to the final of Channel 4‘s gruelling survival show and walked away with a share of the prize money.

However, he has now taken to TikTok in an effort to make his dreams come true.
On a recent post, the former social worker explained: “Five years ago I was working as a child protection officer which I did for a number of years.
“I started of quite enjoying it but by the end I hated it.
“I’ve wanted to be a presenter for ages and so I thought I would try and find a way of leaving social work, pursing my dreams.
“So I went on reality TV on series 1 of Tempting Fortune on channel 4“
“Series 2 is currently airing at the moment, you should watch it cause it’s great.
“It’s all about not spending money and turns out I did but I also won some and used the money for my Masters in TV Journalism.
“I want to be a presenter/reporter and I’ve done bits of presenting.
“I’ve also been developing my debut solo theatre show based on the time I’ve spent with male perpetrators of abuse.
Dan went on to say he has his fingers in a lot of pies but that none of them are giving him any money and presenting is what he really wants to do.
He added he had been resistant to doing TikTok because he felt it was quite embarrassing to be on there.
“But here I am, everyone talks about manifestation but what about Danifestation.
“Try and get some followers I guess or try to get to the point where I can make some money from this.
“Do I need a niche? Am I the niche?
He concludes his post by stating that he will be posting everyday in April and that everyone is welcome to follow along.
Jokingly he added: “There must be a way to make this feel less cringe. Maybe I should wear a hat or a scarf.”
Tempting Fortune hosted by Paddy McGuiness saw 12 contestants take on the tough South African wilderness in Season One.
Along the way they were tempted with “treats” to make their trip more enjoyable, but this came at a price – and ultimately reduced the £300K prize pot.
All 12 contestants made it to the final of Tempting Fortune.
However, unlike other reality gameshows, the batch of hopefuls didn’t get whittled down during the course of the show but their share of the prize money depended on how much they had spent.
Meanwhile, Season Two was thrown into chaos as one contestant quit the show just days into the competition.
And the reality show was found in the middle of a bullying row as one contestant explained she didn’t feel safe during filming.

Tempting Fortune airs on Channel 4.

Man City face a bigger rebuild than Man Utd with Pep Guardiola needing half a dozen top players in transfer window
PEP GUARDIOLA always insisted this season would be an almighty challenge — but he never expected the proof to be so painful.
After four titles in a row with a Manchester City side that many people — myself included — were calling the best in the world only a couple of years earlier, he wasn’t the only one.

Nobody doubted the need for a total rebuild in Manchester, although you might well have been talking about Ruben Amorim’s boys, too.
With United heading for their worst season since they went down in 1974 and with their own boss slaughtering his side, it’s one that has got bigger by the week.
So if anything summed up how City haven’t so much slipped but absolutely plummeted, it is the notion Pep, not Amorim, is the manager with the biggest rebuild on his hands.
That, plus the fact there is actually a grain of truth in the joke that Sky are promoting today’s Old Trafford game as the mid-table Manchester derby.
Pep knows nothing lasts for ever. And with the FA Cup up for grabs, there is every chance he won’t end without a trophy for the first time since his debut year in England.
But the problem is when you’ve made such a habit of winning, that doesn’t make for a successful season.
Make no bones about it, this has been a disaster. City started as odds-on to win a fifth title on the bounce. With eight games left, they can’t even be sure of the top four.
For years it’s not been about whether City will win a trophy, more about how many. If it’s “only” one there are those who even see it as a disappointment.

If you’d said in August that, with two months to go, it would be FA Cup or bust I’d have laughed in your face.
By the way, don’t think that’s a gimme either. The bookies may have City as huge favourites but they’re not playing like it.
There hasn’t been much of the season when they have.
I have to admit I don’t think they will do again — not without a mass overhaul.
Losing Kyle Walker was massive, especially when you’ve had to play people out of position to replace him at right-back.
Something he has had to do all season on the other flank, too.
Kevin De Bruyne is still a fantastic player but not the one he was, Ilkay Gundogan is coming to the end, and Bernardo Silva could be off this summer.
Rodri will be fit again, of course. But how long will it take to get up to speed again?
So you see what I mean about how the Etihad rebuild is quite probably even bigger than the one at Old Trafford.

There’s still the verdict — and potential punishment — from the charges [for allegedly breaching the Prem’s financial rules] hanging over them. How’s that going to affect things?
Pep has been brilliant with what he’s created. There’s every chance it will go down as the greatest side the Prem has ever seen.
But climbing that high means there is farther to fall if you stumble… and City are struggling to keep their feet right now.
It demands genius recruitment this summer, and I keep asking the same question: where do you find the talent at the level they need?
Arsenal spent a year looking for a centre-forward and couldn’t manage it. Pep faces the same problem in about half-a-dozen positions.
After so many titles and a Champions League, a top-four finish is no reason to celebrate. Even with an FA Cup thrown in.
There’s a reason I’m tipping a draw today. Not because it’s a battle between two giants who will cancel each other out — more that neither is good enough to win!

Christopher Biggins slams ‘appalling’ Big Brother after his controversial axing and says he hates ‘boring’ show
CHRISTOPHER Biggins has slammed “appalling” Celebrity Big Brother nine years after he was axed from the show.
The legendary actor and pantomime star, 76, was removed from the house for making an unacceptable joke to X Factor’s Katie Waissel, which wasn’t shown on air.

He told the Jewish singer: “You better be careful or they’ll be putting you in a shower and taking you to a room.”
Bosses of the show, which was broadcast on Channel 5 at the time, quickly pulled him from the house, and his £100k fee was reportedly slashed.
Biggins apologised in the aftermath and pointed out that some of his closest friends, like Birds of a Feather’s Lesley Joseph, were Jewish.
Speaking to The Sun about the reality show’s transition to ITV, Biggins is no fan of the franchise.
“I think Big Brother is just terrible,” he said.
“They treated me appallingly when I did it, so I have that against it. But I just think it’s boring. I don’t understand why people watch it, does it have good ratings?
“Once again it’s negative to bring these things back. The space it takes up, they could be doing so much more so many more wonderful programmes.
“I suppose it will continue because that’s what the public seem to want.”
Biggins found himself in hot water with Big Brother before making the comment that sealed his fate.
He sparked controversy by telling Mob Wives star Renee Grazinano, “I think the worst type though, I’m afraid to say, the bisexuals,” during a conversation about sexuality.
The TV veteran also hit out at reality stars clamouring for their 15 minutes of fame.
He said: “They should be called something else. They are just famous for five minutes.
“Showbiz has changed in a bad way. I feel I’ve seen the best. I’ve had an amazing life and I’ve loved everything I’ve done.”
The 2007 I’m A Celebrity winner also opened up about the bumper pay packets being thrown around on TV shows these days, specifically on the jungle programme.
“I do think what they’re paying now, they paid Nigel Farage a million pounds, it’s ludicrous. But if they want these people and these people say no, you have to pay the money they want.
“And of course, it’s probably ITV’s biggest show. They’ve got masses of money to throw at it and so they can pay these fees.
“When I did it, I got £50,000. It is still a good sum.
“But I did earn a lot of money the year after, though. So that’s my great perk. And I’m still getting work off it now, which is, I can’t remember how many years, but a long time ago.”

Biggins rejected the chance to return to the franchise for All Stars back in 2022, which he maintains was the right call.
Instead, he protected his original jungle experience, which he says he absolutely loved.
“If you’re a king or queen of the jungle, you don’t want to lose your title,” he said. “You’ve done something quite extraordinary by winning that title. So, no, I’m so pleased not to go back, and I really believe I made the right decision.”
And in an era where the risk of cancellation is just one ill-timed comment away, Biggins is all to aware of the impact it can have,
“I think it is a minefield,” he said. “In the early days when I was doing it, it was fun. It was, you know, a hoot. People loved it.
“But now there are lots of woke situations, lots of problems with all sorts of different personalities. And I hate the fact that it could be going down the Big Brother line, which I think Big Brother is just terrible.
“I think the jungle is something different, and I hope it maintains that.”
