Man City vs Club Brugge preview

There’s a huge amount at stake as Manchester City clash with Club Brugge in what’s expected to be a chaotic night of Champions League action on Wednesday.

All 18 games will be played at the same time with 25 of the 36 teams still awaiting their fate.

The Cityzens were often home and hosed at this point of the competition during the group stages.

But as the inaugural Champions League league phase reaches its climax – Pep Guardiola’s side are in danger of an embarrassing early elimination.

The permutation is simple enough, 25th-placed Manchester City must beat Club Brugge to secure their spot in the play-off round. If they fail to win they will be eliminated.

Remember, those finishing between ninth and 16th will be seeded and face a team placed 17th to 24th, with the advantage of playing the second leg at home.

However, on paper at least, Guardiola’s side have very little to worry about.

They’ve won both of their previous meetings with Club Brugge by an aggregate score of 9-2, while the visitors have never won away to English opposition in European competition in 14 previous attempts.

Manchester City are also unbeaten in their last 33 Champions League matches at the Etihad, and understandably enter as 1/8 favourites with the bookies.

Those odds drifted following City’s collapse against PSG, but shortened again thanks to their 3-1 victory over Chelsea to return to the Premier League’s top four.

City have won five of their last seven in all competitions, scoring 27 goals during that run and are gradually showing signs of revival – whilst the introduction of new recruit Omar Marmoush looks extremely promising — although he, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis are not eligible to play

As for the visitors, they simply need a draw to assure themselves of a spot in the playoff round. Club Brugge are unbeaten in their last four matches in the Champions League and 20 in all competitions dating back to October 2024.

Man City vs Club Brugge preview betting tips and predictions

He’s back

Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland is clearly back in the groove, and he’ll be desperate to fire his side into the knockout stages.

The Norwegian, 24, has struck six goals in his last six appearances, including the last three successive games against Chelsea, PSG and Ipswich Town. The striker has scored eight goals in four Champions League appearances against Belgian opponents, averaging a goal every 33 minutes versus such opposition.

On target

Defender Josko Gvardiol ranks third in Manchester City’s squad for goal attempts in the last six Premier League matches (10) and has the third-highest xG (3.99) this season, scoring five goals in 22 league appearances.

Only Erling Haaland and Phil Foden have more.

Gvardiol is expected to continue contributing offensively, so we’re backing him at odds of 6/5 for at least one shot on target via William Hill.

The wearable blanket has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly racked up an average rating of 4.5 out of five, with over 5,600 reviews.

5 ways to keep your house warm in winter

Property expert Joshua Houston shared his tips.

1. Curtains

“Windows are a common place for the outside cold to get into your home, this is because of small gaps that can let in air so always close your curtains as soon as it gets dark,” he said.

This simple method gives you an extra layer of warmth as it can provide a kind of “insulation” between your window and curtain.

2. Rugs

“Your floor is another area of your home where heat can be lost and can make your home feel chilly,” he continued. “You might notice on cold days, that your floor is not nice to walk on due to it freezing your feet.

“Add rugs to areas that don’t already have a carpet, this provides a layer of insulation between your bare floor and the room above.”

3. Check your insulation

Check your pipes, loft space, crawlspaces and underneath floorboards.

“Loose-fill insulation is very good for this, and is a more affordable type of insulation, with a big bag being able to be picked up for around £30,” Joshua explained.

4. Keep your internal doors closed

“Household members often gather in one room in the evening, and this is usually either the kitchen or living room,” Joshua said.

“This means you only have to heat a small area of your home, and closing the doors keeps the heat in and the cold out.”

5. Block drafts

Don’t forget to check cat flaps, chimneys and letterboxes, as they can let in cold air if they aren’t secure.

“I pretty much wear mine from the moment I wake up until I go to bed as it keeps me so warm and it’s cheaper than heating the house.

“In fact I was so impressed I purchased one for my mum who takes it to work as she gets really cold in her office.”

This product has been a life saver. Honestly, it keeps me so warm and is huge

Shopper

Another wrote: “I love this Sherpa fleece. It is so warm and cosy. I got the red because it is such a rich and stunning colour.

“It is a very generous size and is really comfortable to wear. It washes well – no shrinkage or loss of colour. In fact, it is softer and cosier after every wash.”

Meanwhile, a third penned: “Amazing gift for mum who practically lived in this through the winter. Couldn’t have asked for a better price (was on sale at the time).

“I was initially concerned the quality wouldn’t be as great due to the lower-than-usual price, but still substantially soft and thick.”

Whilst someone else chimed in: “Bought for my elderly mother. Lightweight, comfortable, cosy and warm.”

Cheap gadgets to help you stay warm

MARTIN Lewis' MoneySavingExpert shared six gadgets that can help you keep the heating off but stay warm.

Heating “the human not the home” means you warm yourself instead of turning on the heating and heating the whole house.

This can save money on your heating bill and means you don’t have to sit in the cold.

Love Island fans spot exact moment Grace Jackson plans to ‘dump’ Luca Bish after scathing remark

LOVE Island fans claim Grace Jackson will dump Luca Bish after she called him out on his behaviour last night.

The pair have building on their fledgling romance since coupling up last week – but major drama in the villa looks to have driven a wedge between them.

Luca clashed with pal Scott Thomas on Sunday night as the villa stars played truth or dare during a Las Vegas themed party night.

They had to be pulled apart after a riled Scott confronted Luca for revealing to the group that he wasn’t feeling his relationship with Tina Stinnes anymore.

Last night Luca and Grace were seen laying together in bed when she told him his continuous digs at Scott were putting her off.

She whispered: “You wind him up all the time. All the time. Don’t do that again or it will put me off.”

One viewer wrote on X: “From what Grace has been telling Luca during bed time seems like Luca has been pinching at Scott for a while and it’s honestly giving Tasha flashbacks.”

Luca was in the villa with Tasha Ghouri first time around in 2022 and faced bullying claims, along with Dami Hope, over the way he treated her.

Another viewer commented: “Grace ready to dump Luca lmao.”

However, there is still hope.

Luca and Scott buried the hatchet with a teary heart to heart paving the way for a fresh start.

In the villa garden Luca told Scott he “looks up to him”, as Scott – who says he sees himself as Luca’s “big brother” – apologised for “winding him up”.

“I love you,” Scott told Luca. “Come here. Bro, it’s all banter that went too far but I promise you, I didn’t want to bring out that side out of you.”

Hugging Scott, Luca agreed: “I didn’t want to bring it out of you. I look up to you, bro.”

The pair agreed to put their disagreement behind them, but fans are still worried about Luca’s wellbeing as it wasn’t the first time he’s been in tears this series.

Bankrupt Katie Price reveals plans to make £500MILLION in the next three years

BANKRUPT Katie Price has revealed her plans to make £500million in the next three years.

Former glamour model Katie, 46, has revealed in her podcast, The Katie Price Show, that she wants to have made £500m by 2028.

Instagram
This comes as fans continue to share their concerns for Katie amid her weight loss[/caption]

She even unveiled the elaborate plan she has to make the cash, with fans quick to react and brand her as “mad”.

“New year’s resolution, if that’s the right word, is I want to make about 500 million in about three years,” Katie declared on her podcast.

“Why are you laughing, Soph?” Katie asked her sister who was cracking up over her ambitious goal.

Sophie then replied: “I just wanna finish my house renovation – that’s my goal.”

“And there’s one way I’m gonna do that,” Katie added, before saying: “Win the f***ing lottery.”

Reacting to the video, which was shared on Instagram, one person said: “Someone has to win it.”

Another added: “Love Katie she so down to earth.”

While a third penned: “@katieprice youre mad as a bag o squirrels..but I love it…

And a fourth offered some advice, saying: “You and Kim Kardashian should do a episode together that would bring in that much.”

DECLARED BANKRUPT IN 2024

Katie is currently bankrupt, with her last declared as so almost a year ago.

In March 2024, Katie was declared bankrupt for a second time.

The declaration came after an unpaid tax bill of £761,994.05.

The demand for payment was made by HMRC in October 2023.

Katie was due to give evidence about her finances at the High Court but failed to turn up – holidaying in Cyprus with her new man JJ Slater instead.

Katie Price's missing millions

At the peak of her career Katie had an estimated fortune of £45m, thanks to her lucrative modelling career, book deals, and TV appearances.

The cash-strapped mum-of-five was first declared bankrupt in 2019 over unpaid debts of £3.2 million.

In a podcast interview earlier this year, she blamed her exes who include Peter AndreAlex Reid and Kieran Hayler and lawyers for her money woes.

She insisted that funding her exes’ lavish lifestyles with cars, watches, luxury holidays and homes left her finances in tatters.

She added: “I went through a breakdown, this is how mine started – lawyers and exes, that is my bankruptcy thing.

“And obviously a bit of HMRC.

“When I had my breakdown, if anyone has been depressed… I don’t know if you’ve ever had depression.

“It starts with depression and you just want to sleep all day and not talk to anyone, the phone would ring and you wouldn’t answer it.’

In March, Katie was declared bankrupt for a second time over an unpaid tax bill of £761,994.05.

The demand for payment was made by HMRC last October.

Katie was due to give evidence about her finances at the High Court but failed to turn up – holidaying in Cyprus with her new man JJ Slater instead.

Her Mucky Mansion was a bomb site for years after it was burgled, flooded and swamped by an overflowing septic tank.

She finally moved out at the end of May and is renting a four-bed mansion in Sussex.

Previously, the mum-of-five was declared bankrupt in 2019, after it was revealed that she owed £3.2 million to creditor, as well as HMRC, her mortgage company and various small businesses.

Then, after failing to pay back £12,000 a month to the creditors following various court hearings, her £2 million home, Mucky Mansion in West Sussex was repossessed in May.

LOOKING SLIMMER

This comes as fans share their concern for Katie after noticing how much she has slimmed down over the last few months.

She has insisted that the weight loss is not the result of popular weight loss jabs such as Ozempic.

Instead, Katie has said that she has just “shrunk back” to her natural size after gaining weight from IVF and from being inactive following her foot injury in 2020.

Storm Herminia’s wrath continues as Met Office map reveals wave of rain hitting TODAY bringing floods & travel carnage

STORM Herminia’s wrath continues today – with a map revealing a wave of rain hitting Britain as the Met Office issues a new yellow warning.

The storm will see parts of the country facing another day of disruption and flood threats.

Flood warnings and alerts are also in place[/caption]

The forecaster issued a yellow warning of spells of rain which could lead to localised flooding covering South and West Wales until 9pm today.

While Natural Resources Wales has removed a series of flood warnings, Libanus in the Brecon Beacons saw 34.6mm of rain on Monday and nine flood alerts remain in place.

Another yellow alert for rain covering parts of southern England runs until 10am on Tuesday, warning of heavy rain, possible thunderstorms and flooding.

Gusts of 84mph and almost 60mm of rainfall hit parts of southern England on Monday.

The Environment Agency has 37 flood warnings, where flooding is expected, in place in the south of England and the Midlands. A further 171 alerts, where flooding is possible, are in place across England.

The bad weather is linked to Storm Herminia, a low-pressure system named by meteorologists in Spain, which was expected to feel the strongest winds.

Somerset Council said a major incident in the region, jointly declared with the police and other agencies, would be maintained until further notice with more rain forecast on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Somerton Fire Station said 61 people were rescued from flooded properties, including a mobile home site in Charlton Adam, and temporarily relocated to Edgar Community Hall.

Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna said the rain warnings are suggesting further flooding is possible until Tuesday evening.

He said: “The trend over the next few days is for things to gradually improve a bit.

“These warnings for rain are suggesting further flooding is quite possible, especially within the warning area.”

After a day of sunshine and showers on Tuesday, heaviest with the chance of hail and thunder in the south, the Met Office said rain is expected to ease overnight bar some heavy patches in the north of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Mr Petagna said Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly fine, but with a small chance, the far south of England could see some outbreaks of rain.

Director of customer operations for the north of Scotland Andy Smith said: “This storm has been the most destructive for parts of our network in many years and rebuilding damaged overhead lines has been a huge task.”
