Terrifying moment hooded gunman hell-bent on revenge opens fire on rival in car park before being snared by armed cops

THIS is the dramatic moment a hooded gunman hell-bent on revenge opened fire on a rival.

CCTV showed Mohammed Islam launching the horror attack after arriving at a car park in Birmingham, West Midlands.

Terrified bystanders scattered as the thug chased the victim around the busy area with a silver handgun.

Islam can then be seen firing twice at his target but missing as the carnage continues.

But at one stage the victim trips over – leading the gunman to fire a final shot that hit him in the left thigh.

Islam and two other men he had arrived with then fled the scene of the horror.

The footage also shows the moment armed cops swooped on a taxi the attempted assassin was travelling in.

Police shattered the taxi window before dragging the Islam out and pinning him to the ground.

The gunman denied he was involved in the shooting and also racially abused officers as he was arrested.

But officers were able to identify Islam after trawling through CCTV and mobile phone analysis.

They also discovered the victim had threatened Islam with a knife on the same road earlier in the day.

Although the motive was unclear, police established the shooting was a revenge attack.

Islam was cleared of attempted murder but found guilty of wounding with intent and racially aggravated public order offences.

He was jailed for 12 years at Birmingham Crown Court.

Det Insp Matt Marston, from our Major Crime Unit, said: “This was a truly shocking outburst of violence, which has seen multiple shots fired and a man very lucky to have survived.

“Islam clearly wanted to cause his victim really serious harm and this could easily have become a murder investigation.

“We put a huge amount of effort into tackling gun crime in the West Midlands, and people who think it’s acceptable to carry or use weapons should be on notice that we will actively pursue them.”

Freezing temperatures & short days among the top reasons Brits HATE February as it’s voted ‘least motivated month’

THE cold weather and dark evenings aren’t going anywhere despite January almost being over.

And it turns out nearly half of Brits wish they could skip February altogether and go straight to March as they name it the ‘Monday of all months‘.

Those surveyed put the dreary weather (69 per cent), freezing temperatures (68 per cent), and short days (52 per cent) as the top reasons many would like to banish February from the calendar.

The poll of 2,000 adults found that 30 per cent admitted their New Year’s resolutions had faded by the time the second month rolled around, as 48 per cent blamed a lack of motivation.

And 40 per cent said that life simply gets in the way after January, while 32 per cent confessed to becoming bored with the goals they’d set.

But overall, 45 per cent of Brits feel unmotivated throughout February.

To help the nation combat the February funk, Bassetts Vitamins, which commissioned the research, has launched its Fun-uary Calendar to encourage people to embrace one fun task a day to lift their spirits. It is available via a social media giveaway.

Former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy, who has teamed up with the brand, said: “I’ve actually never been a big fan of February.

“And it’s clear with 53 per cent of people voting February just as gloomy if not gloomier than January, I’m not the only one.

“So taking on the tasks from the Fun-uary Calendar has brought a bit of joy to each day, which can make a big difference this time of year.”

The study also found 63 per cent of adults are eager to make February more enjoyable, with 85 per cent of the belief that it’s the little things that bring the most joy.

Among the top mood-boosters were watching a comedy (27 per cent) and listening to a podcast (11 per cent).

Beat the winter blues

If the winter blues persist or feel overwhelming, consider speaking to a healthcare professional, as it could be a sign of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which may require additional support.

  1. Get Plenty of Natural Light
Shorter days and longer nights can lead to a lack of sunlight, which may affect your mood. Try to spend time outdoors during daylight hours, even if it’s just for a short walk. If natural light is scarce, consider using a light therapy box to simulate sunlight and improve your well-being.
  2. Stay Active
Regular physical activity can do wonders for your mood and energy levels. Whether it’s a brisk walk, a yoga session at home, or joining a local fitness class, exercise helps release endorphins, which are natural mood boosters.
  3. Maintain a Healthy Diet
Eating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein can help stabilise your mood and energy. Limit sugary snacks and processed foods, as they can lead to energy crashes. Warm, nourishing meals like soups and stews can also be comforting during the colder months.
  4. Stay Socially Connected
It’s easy to feel isolated during winter, but making an effort to stay connected with friends and family can improve your mood. Arrange coffee catch-ups, join a local club, or even have a cosy video chat from the comfort of your home.
  5. Practise Self-Care
Winter is a great time to focus on self-care. Take warm baths, read a good book, or try relaxation techniques like meditation or deep breathing. Prioritising your mental health and taking time for yourself can help combat feelings of sadness or lethargy.

Moments shared with loved ones brought the most enjoyment, with 81 per cent cherishing these interactions.

Giving a friend or family member a hug (37 per cent), meeting up for a coffee (34 per cent), and revisiting shared traditions (19 per cent) were also among the most treasured activities, according to those polled via OnePoll.

Hannah Gardner, from Bassetts Vitamins, said: “We know how important it is to encourage people to indulge in a moment of fun each day – especially during the bleaker winter months.

“And with the launch of the “Fun-uary Calendar” you can do just that, all while embracing the simple habit of taking a one-a-day vitamin gummy.”

Sky Q customers finally receive access to free streaming app from major UK broadcaster with hundreds of shows

SKY Q customers will finally be able to access a major UK broadcaster’s streaming app from their boxes.

Telly fans on satellite have long been waiting for the service to land, having existed on Sky Glass and Sky Stream for sometime now.

22 Kids and Counting is also on My5[/caption]

And it also means that the streaming services for all of the UK’s main broadcasters are now accessible on Sky Q boxes.

The final piece of the puzzle is My5, the free streaming destination for Channel 5, as well as sister channels 5STAR, 5USA, 5SELECT and 5ACTION.

Sky customers could already find Channel 5 content on-demand but this latest move will open viewers up to the firm’s full slate of programming.

My5 is due to land on Sky Q boxes in February.

It comes as the company prepares a major revamp for both the channel and My5, adopting a single brand, 5.

The overhaul is set to take place in March.

My5 will be automatically updated on Sky Q, as well as Sky Glass and Sky Stream when the new app launches.

As well as a fresh look, more boxsets and shows are expected to land on the platform, as well as new online live channels.

Channel 5 recently revealed that My5 grew at its fastest ever rate in 2024.

Shock documentary My Wife, My Abuser was the number one most watched single title.

And original dramas including All Creatures Great and Small, Blindspot, The Teacher and Ellis boosted the platform too.

“Our expanded distribution across Sky Q marks an important milestone in My5’s ongoing growth, enabling us to reach more homes than ever before,” said Kiaran Saunders, VP Distribution at Paramount UK.

“With the upcoming refresh to 5, we’re thrilled to deliver an even more engaging, streamlined and richer viewing experience for all of our audiences.”

What to expect from the new 5 streaming service

Analysis by Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor at The Sun

Channel 5 is owned by US media giant Paramount, which also owns free streaming service Pluto TV.

And I believe Pluto TV offers some hints of what we can expect from the new 5 app.

Given Paramount’s extensive family of brands, there’s a lot of good quality archive content to use.

My5 already does this with some shows like Geordie Shore but not others like Catfish, 16 and Pregnant, South Park and many more.

So I’m sure we can expect more of this.

And let’s not forget Paramount’s extensive back catalogue of movies, some of which may well make an appearance – though the lion’s share will no doubt remain paid on Paramount+.

Bobby Norris reveals his secret sadness as he shares results of hair transplant and makes plea to Prime Minister

BOBBY Norris has shared his secret sadness while showing off the results of his hair transplant, after a homophobic attack.

The former Towie star and FUBAR radio host, 38, has jetted off to the world’s largest hair loss clinic, Elithair, in Turkey, to transform his look.

Bobby told us he’s had the transplant procedure after becoming “conscious” of his hairline, over the past few months.

He added: “I want to feel more confident, and as it’s such a popular treatment for men now I think it’s really the only way to change my hairline.”

Bobby has shown his 781,000 social media followers a before-and-after look at his hair.

In one video, the reality star could be seen showing off his dark locks being fully shaved off, and in another he reveals his shaved head as he joked: “If you are looking for a long lost ‘Mitchell Brother’ to join the firm, get on the dog and bone!!”

Towie favourite Bobby admitted he’s been “unhappy” about his hair and chose the Turkey clinic after visiting the country for a couple of procedures in the past.

He said: “It’s all I’ve been able to see when I look in the mirror, so I knew I needed help to feel more confident.”

Fans have praised Bobby for his move to have a hair transplant, as one person wrote: “I love how open you are Bobby you never hide or deny anything & that’s brave & strong Keep being you Bobby.”

A second added: “How refreshing for someone to be so honest about what procedure has been done. Good luck & excited to see the results.”

And a third echoed: “Hope it’s heals quickly and look forward to seeing the end results . Thanks for being open and honest . Very refreshing on this day and age.”

Bobby has since revealed the first results of his transplant while addressing the Prime Minister, Sir Kier Starmer in a new video.

The ITVBe favourite was travelling through Stratford’s Tube station when a vile individual branded him a “queer c**t” as he travelled to a meeting.

Bobby has previously opened up on the horror homophobia he has faced through the years, and in 2021 told how he was threatened with beheading just for being gay.

And now, in a video addressed to the Prime Minister, Bobby said: “I know homophobia exists, and during the pandemic homophobia went through the roof.

“Anyway, we’ve come out and world has gone back to some sort of normality, but sadly the homophobia isn’t just online anymore.

“The physical and verbal homophobia is off the scale.”

Bobby continued: “Something is going on and something needs to be done.

“I mentioned it’s physical and I’ve been attacked twice in the last few years because of my sexuality.”

Bobby called for the Prime Minister to do something as he added: “We’re meant to be moving forward, people from my community are living in fear, make it make sense.”

The star said he’d like to have a cup of tea with Sir Kier to talk about what could be done.

Bobby rocketed to fame when he joined TOWIE back in 2012.Yet sadly and unjustly this has meant he has been a target for homophobic slurs over the years.

Previously Bobby told how the swathes of online abuse sent his way are “always homophobic”, as part of Pride Month 2021.

Threat to deploy European TROOPS to Greenland & Danes announce $2b military boost…as EU says ‘NO negotiating’ with Trump

EU politicians have threatened to deploy European troops to Greenland and refused to negotiate with Trump over his plans to buy the island.

Denmark has announced a multi-billion dollar boost to its armed forces in the Arctic after Trump doubled-down on his intention to take the landmass.

This map shows why Greenland would be a valuable asset to the US

Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, said the bloc was “not negotiating” with the American President, who has said he needs Greenland for security purposes.

She added: “Of course we are supporting our member state, Denmark, and its autonomous region, Greenland, but we shouldn’t also go into speculation about what-ifs because this is not the situation right now.”

The Estonian diplomat struck back after Trump repeated his vow that Greenland would fall under American control.

The US President said on Saturday: “I think the people [of Greenland] want to be with us.

“I don’t really know what claim Denmark has to it, but it would be a very unfriendly act if they didn’t allow that to happen because it’s for the protection of the free world.

“I think Greenland we’ll get because it has to do with freedom of the world.”

In response to Trump’s renewed warnings that the US will acquire Greenland, Denmark announced on Monday it would splurge over $2billion bolstering its military force in the Arctic.

The nation’s Ministry of Defence said the package aims to “improve capabilities for surveillance and maintaining sovereignty in the region”.

The investment will fund three new Arctic naval vessels, two drones with long-range surveillance capabilities and more Arctic basic military training.

Troels Lund Poulsen, Denmark’s minister of defence, said: “We must face the fact that there are serious challenges regarding security and defence in the Arctic and North Atlantic.

“For this reason, we must strengthen our presence in the region.

“That is the objective of this agreement, which paves the way for further initiatives already this year.”

A security expert told The Sun earlier this month that if Trump decided to take Greenland by force, he could do it in 24 hours with the “world’s shortest war”.

As owner of the island, Denmark is responsible for Greenland’s protection and their army would be the army to mobilise against the Americans.

Before the announced cash dump, Denmark’s defence budget was around £6billion – 100 times smaller than the £750billion America splashes on the sector.

Trump’s fresh comments came days after an explosive 45-minute call with the Danish PM, Mette Frederiksen, last week.

Several European officials reveal the hostility in the phone call.

One said: “The intent was very clear. They [the Americans] want it. The Danes are now in crisis mode. The Danes are utterly freaked out by this.”

Another revealed: “He [Trump] was very firm. It was a cold shower. Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.”

Trump’s bullish insistence he will buy Greenland has riled Danish leaders and politicians, who have repeatedly insisted that the island is not for sale.

One Danish MEP, Anders Vistisen, even told Trump to “f**k off” during a parliament session.

The politician raged: “Dear President Trump, listen very carefully. Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years.

“It’s an integrated part of our country. It is not for sale.

“Let me put it in words you might understand. Mr Trump F*** off.”

Greenland’s leader, Múte Egede, has called for his people to determine their own fate.

After a visit from Donald Trump Jr this month he said: “We are Greenlanders. We don’t want to be Americans. We don’t want to be Danish either. Greenland’s future will be decided by Greenland.”

The transatlantic spat has rumbled on since before Trump returned to power.

He spun Denmark and the EU into panic when he refused to rule out taking Greenland by force earlier this month.

Since taking office, Trump has piled pressure on Greenland’s premiere, Mute Egede, to discuss the US buying out the Danish territory.

He has said US ownership of Greenland is an “absolute necessity” to protect global “security and freedom”.

It would be a valuable asset to the States as it is brimming with natural resources and sits bang in the middle of the main Arctic trade routes.

It’s also strategically positioned in the Arctic zone, which has become the epicentre of a struggle between superpowers.

Russia and China have both ramped up efforts to take control of the region, and America feels it needs to play catch-up.

Trump first expressed interest in Greenland, which is self-governing but owned by Denmark, during his first term when he saw it as a “large real estate deal”.

He even appointed a team to prepare options, including a long-term lease deal.

In the years since, Trump he continued looking into the matter and seems to be becoming only more resolved to see it through.
