This means I used to end up eating the same boring meals over and over again with little to no variation.
Gousto’s tagline is ‘Who says Tuesday can’t taste like Saturday?’, aiming to entice hungry shoppers to ditch their usual weeknight meal in favour of the flavourful, easy-to-make recipes you get in a Gousto box.
With a passionate love of food and cooking, I never saw myself becoming the kind of person who lived off the same three quick and easy meals on rotation, but a busy schedule leaves you looking for any way to save time.
So when I stumbled upon Gousto’s meal delivery service, I thought the recipe boxes looked like a way to save time while still getting to enjoy cooking and sit down to a home-cooked meal.
A Gousto box waiting for me on my doorstep

How I tested Gousto
A healthy Gousto salad
Get 50% off your 1st Gousto box, 40% off your 2nd box and 20% off your 3rd and 4th boxes with code SUNGOUSTO50
I’ve been using meal delivery services for nearly three years now.
I love the convenience, lack of meal planning required, and variety of recipes.
Gousto has been my go-to for around two of the three years, I and have tried hundreds of its recipes.
While I’ve tested a few different services over the years, I always come back to Gousto as I feel it has the best variety.
I order four meals a week, and my boxes arrive on Sunday ready for the week ahead.
Gousto review: Quickfire Q&A
How much is Gousto? It depends on a few factors, but at full-price, meals start from £3.78 per portion. You can save 50% on your first box (plus 40% off your second box, and 20% off your third and fourth boxes) using our discount code, SUNGOUSTO50.
How does Gousto work? Choose how many meals you want, how many you’re cooking for, and the recipes you want to cook, and the fresh ingredients will be delivered to you. You still have to do the fun part — the actual cooking — but none of the annoying planning or shopping.
How many recipes are there? Impressively, over 500 per month, with around 200 available at any one time.
Who’s it best for? Busy people who want a homemade, tasty meal every night but don’t have the time to be cooking from scratch.
I’d also recommend it for those who are looking to eat more healthily or lose weight. I only ordered low-calorie dinners in the 6 months leading up to my wedding and lost around a stone.
What we loved: The amount of choice, the easy-to-follow recipes and the generous portion sizes.
What we didn’t: Honestly? Not much. You’ll automatically be enrolled into a subscription when you order your first box, so make sure that you cancel if you don’t want to continue.
Gousto review: The Nitty Gritty
First impressions
I get my Gousto parcels delivered on a Sunday, so I have everything ready to cook during the week.
In most ways, it works the same way as other meal delivery services.
Most of the ingredients are free-floating in the box, but the ingredients that need to be kept cool are in a separate bag being kept cold by ice bags, so if I’m a little late to put everything in the fridge it’s not the end of the world.
Getting started
Gousto meal ingredients and recipe card
Get 50% off your 1st Gousto box, 40% off your 2nd box and 20% off your 3rd and 4th boxes with code SUNGOUSTO50
Often, when flipping through the recipe cards on a Sunday, I genuinely struggle to decide what to cook because everything not only looks good, but is extremely different.
Different ingredients, different cuisines, different flavours; the variation is incredible.
The variety in the meals has always really impressed me, and many of the meals feel far more expensive than the price would suggest — it’s a nice way to feel like you’re treating yourself on a weeknight.
For two people, prices start at £4.40 per portion, but you can take that down to £2.20 with our exclusive discount code, SUNGOUSTO50.
How does Gousto work?
If you’re new to meal kit delivery services, the process is super simple.
You head over to the Gousto website and click ‘get started’. This will prompt you to choose how many people you’re shopping for and what size box you’d like, and enter your postcode.
You then choose your desired delivery date and specify where you’d like your parcel left if you’re not in when it arrives.
There’s an array of meal plans to choose from, including plant-based, ‘Everyday Favourites’ and meals that can be made in under 10 minutes.
Over time, there will also be a section with recommendations specifically for you, based on what you’ve ordered previously. I’ve found these to be pretty spot on too.
Once you’ve selected your meals, it’ll be time to check out.
When you’re checking out it will say ‘start your subscription’, and the subscriptions can be delivered weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. You can skip, unskip or pause your subscription whenever, so you can change your mind at any time.
The Gousto box will arrive on the date you requested and will contain the ingredients for each of the meals you selected along with recipe cards with easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions.
Is Gousto worth it?
If you’re looking for a service that will deliver you the ingredients you need to make a restaurant-quality meal at home, look no further than Gousto.
Cooking fancy meals usually requires a few ingredients that are a little out of the left-field, meaning you often have to buy produce in larger quantities than you’d like to, creating waste and taking up room in an already packed pantry.
A Gousto recipe box comes with all the ingredients you need perfectly portioned for the recipes you’re making, limiting food waste and letting you flex your chef muscles.
Another healthy Gousto meal
Get 50% off your 1st Gousto box, 40% off your 2nd box and 20% off your 3rd and 4th boxes with code SUNGOUSTO50
The price of a Gousto box varies depending on how many meals you want to receive and how many people you’re feeding.
You can choose boxes feeding one to five people. For one to four people, you can choose two to five recipes per week; for five people, you can choose only two or three.
The smallest box — two recipes per week for one person — ends up being pretty costly; it’s £18.99 per order, working out at £9.50 per portion (although your first box will be cheaper than that thanks to the discount code).
The biggest box — five recipes per week for four people — is £61.75 at full price, working out at £3.09 per portion.
So as you can tell, things get a lot cheaper if you bulk order.
How to cancel Gousto
The inside of one of my unpacked Gousto boxes
Cancelling your Gousto box couldn’t be simpler; just head to your subscription settings and click ‘pause’. When your subscription has been paused, all the orders you have coming up will be cancelled until you unpause them.
One important thing to remember is that pausing will only remove empty scheduled orders, if you’d already picked your recipes you’ll have to cancel the order individually through the ‘upcoming deliveries’ tab.
Gousto alternatives
There’s a smorgasbord of alternatives for Gousto — and we’ve tested many of them for our review of the best meal delivery services.
One of the most high-profile is Hello Fresh, which like Gousto, is at the more affordable end of the spectrum, and like Gousto, runs enticing offers for new subscribers.
One of our favourite alternatives is Mindful Chef, which provides some of the best-quality ingredients we’ve encountered from these sorts of services and has a great seasonal recipe selection. However, it is quite expensive.
Gousto review: The Verdict
I've been using Gousto for years now, and don't see myself stopping any time soon.
The recipes and menu variety are really impressive and the meals never got repetitive or boring.
The meals seem far more expensive than the accessible price point would suggest, and all the food is fresh and downright delicious.
If I was really trying to impress a new date or some guests during a dinner party, I think a Gousto box would be a powerful secret weapon —it makes it look like you really know your way around a kitchen.

16 hours agoLatest NewsComments Off on I’m taking on Jonbon with the strongest stayer who will take all the beating at 6-1
TACTICS… crucial in every horse race but even more so in a Grade 1 when all four runners have made all in their career.
That’s what makes today’s feature Grade 1 Melling Chase over 2m4f such a fascination.
GettyChappers reckons Protektorat has what it takes to spring a shock at Aintree[/caption]
Beaten Champion Chase hotpot and class act Jonbon defends his crown.
Up against him is old rival El Fabiolo and another chaser in the double green silks, Matata.
And last, but certainly not least, we have the old boy PROTEKTORAT (3.30).
Any of them could go straight to the front and try to make all. We will only know who when the tape goes up.
Jonbon made one horrific mistake in last month’s Champion, but eventually ran on into second behind brilliant Marine Nationale and, obviously, is a worthy favourite at 4-6.
Last year Nicky Henderson’s star had Protektorat well held back in third in this.
But I don’t believe the Dan Skelton runner was at his best that day and he’s the strongest stayer of the four, having once been placed in a Gold Cup.
I think he will take all the beating in this make-up under Harry Skelton, and has won at this track before. He’s the value at around 6-1.
STELLAR STORY (1.45) can take the opening Grade 1 Mildmay Novices Chase.
He is a tough, strong stayer and, while he might be more suited to Cheltenham than Aintree, I fancy him.
He very rarely puts in a bad run and was a terrific second to Lecky Watson in the Brown Advisory in which Dancing City was well seen off in sixth. A repeat of that run could be good enough here.
Next up is a tricky handicap hurdle. I fancied BE AWARE (2.20) at Cheltenham and he came up short in the Coral Cup over 2m5f having travelled strongly to two out.
This slightly shorter trip and sharper track should suit him well and, while he remains a very hard horse to win with, he has solid claims off the same mark of 137.
The Grade 1 Top Novices’ Hurdle can go to ROMEO COOLIO (2.55).
He won a Grade 1 in Ireland and ran a good third behind the impressive Kopek des Border in the Supreme.
He had every chance at the last that day and can get back to winning ways.
The once-feared National fences are up next in the Randox Topham Chase.
This is a race to play each-way and ELDORADO ALLEN (4.05) will carry my tenner at as big as 25-1.
He has some form over the unique fences, having got round behind I Am Maximus in the 2024 Grand National.
He had every chance until headed four out and fading as his petrol ran out. This trip is ideal and he’s been dropped to 145 so has a nice racing weight.
I like CALIFET EN VOL (4.40) in the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle.
He finished strongly to win the Sidney Banks over two and a half miles and swerved Cheltenham to wait for this.
He takes a big step up in class — and trip — but he will stay and he certainly has the class.
Hendo even thinks he could be a new Shishkin.
Califet En Vol will make a lovely chaser and Hendo obviously wants to look after him.
That means he may not want to risk him if the ground gets too quick. If he is pulled out late play Familiar Dreams.
The last race on day two is for amateur riders and conditional jockeys.
AFADIL (5.15) is an annoying horse who never delivers but there is no doubt he’s still well handicapped off a mark of 124.

LYNDON KNOWLES is relishing the opportunity to finally step out of Jonathan Haggerty’s shadow and show the world just how great he is.
Knowles has been an ever-present in ‘The Hitman’s’ title-filled journey in ONE Championship but has, unlike some cornermen, kept a low profile.

WBC MUAY THAIBut the 38-year-old is a three-time WBC heavyweight Muay Thai champion[/caption]
ONE CHAMPIONSHIPKnowles will look to step out of Haggerty’s shadow and become the new ruler of ONE’s heavyweight title[/caption]
But it’ll be all eyes on him this Saturday morning when he makes his eagerly anticipated promotional debut against heavyweight champion Roman Kryklia at ONE Fight Night 30.
Those in the know have long known that Knowles is much more than a “hype man” for Haggerty, a label he can well and truly do away with with an upset victory over Ukrainian bruiser Kryklia.
In an exclusive interview with SunSport, he said: “I’m super excited to show the world what I can offer. Because I’m sort of Jonathan’s banner boy.
“I remember I was talking to someone out in Denver and they were like, ‘Oh, I just thought you were Jonathan’s hype man.
“And then I went on your Instagram and realised you’re a pretty decent fighter yourself.’
“It is funny, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
“I love cornering Jonathan, I love being around him when he trains and I love being part of his fight team.
“I’m not sure if that’s what people want to remember me as, being Jonathan’s banner boy.

WBC MUAY THAIKnowles is relishing his underdog status ahead of the biggest fight of his career[/caption]
“But I’m gonna prove to them that I’m more than that at the weekend.”
On finally competing in ONE, he added: “I’m just living the dream, to be honest. This is where most Muay Thai fighters want to be.
“They want to be in ONE Championship.
“Getting picked up at the airport with a ONE Championship sign was surreal.
“And it was actually my turn for once. It was incredible.”
Being thrust into a title shot straight off the bat is a huge hat tip from the ONE brass to Knowles’ achievements outside the promotion.
But he faces arguably the toughest task of his career to end Kryklia’s reign atop the heavyweight division.
Oddsmakers are also in agreement, making him a sizeable underdog – a status he’s relishing.
“We come from a gym that makes the impossible possible,” he said. “A lot of people said it about Jonathan all them years ago against Sam-A and then against Nong-O.
I’m gonna prove to them that I’m more than that at the weekend
“And then he does it. And I feel like I’m gonna do the same thing.”
Winning a world title will change Knowles’ life forever, although he won’t go splashing the cash on himself.
“I definitely think that there’s a holiday on the cards for my mum,” he said. “She deserves one.
“She hasn’t been on holiday for a while, so I’ve definitely been thinking about that.”
Before he can think about treating his mum to a well-deserved holiday, Knowles must do what no man has done in over EIGHT YEARS and get the better of Kryklia.
He knows he faces an uphill task to do so, but foresees himself getting the job done in a violent and bonus-winning fashion.
He said: “I think this fight’s only gonna end in a stoppage. So it means I’ll probably be getting a $50,000 bonus.”

POLICE are finally hoping to solve the chilling murder of a newborn baby found wrapped in a Kleenex toilet roll bag 30 years ago.
Baby April was discovered at a beauty spot in Ashford, Kent, on April 3, 1995.
Ferrari Baby April was found in a lake in Kent in 1995[/caption]
Ferrari The tot was wrapped in a Kleenex toilet tissue bag[/caption]
She had been strangled with a pair of tights then wrapped up in the toilet roll bag before being placed inside a Motaworld bag.
The tot was then thrown into the water in Singleton Lake where she was discovered by a teen couple on a walk.
Police estimated Baby April was born between March 25 and April 3, 1995 – the week before she was found dead.
They said the 7lb baby was not born with medical intervention as the umbilical cord was roughly severed.
Officers launched a murder investigation following the tragic discovery but were unable to trace her parents or family.
In May 2011, police exhumed Baby April’s remains at Bybrook Cemetery in order to get a full DNA profile.
She was then laid to rest again at the cemetery.
Sadly, the newer DNA sample did not lead to any major breakthrough and the tragedy remains unsolved.
But 30 years on from the horror, police are hoping to finally crack the case thanks to developments in DNA profiling and forensic science.
DI Lee Neiles, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, is leading the cold case team and believes scientific advancements could lead to a major breakthrough.
“This is a horrific case of a newborn baby girl being killed and discarded in a lake,” the 45-year-old said.
“April would be 30 years old now and who knows what she would be contributing to society, but someone ended her life in the most unimaginable way and prevented that young baby growing up to be a girl and a woman.
“I have no doubt someone out there has information in relation to this case, and now that three decades have passed, it has to be the time to do the right thing and come forward so that we can get justice for April.
“Advances in forensic science, particularly familial DNA, now give us an even better chance of establishing who her parents are.
“We urge the mother of April to come forward now, rather than we come to you.”
Anyone with information can call Kent Police on 01622 652006 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

MCLAREN is set to break 62 years of tradition by merging with a luxury EV brand, aiming to expand its model range beyond supercars.
This move could see the iconic British marque venture into producing SUVs and other types of vehicles – much like Porsche, Aston Martin, and Lamborghini have done in recent years.
GettyMcLaren have struggled in recent years and could now deviate away from supercars[/caption]
GettyThe iconic British brand has announced a merger with EV maker Forseven[/caption]
GettyIt comes as the brand was recently sold to Abu Dhabi investment group CYVN Holdings[/caption]
McLaren Automotive, which is a separate entity from their famous F1 team, was sold to Abu Dhabi investment group CYVN Holdings back in December.
But CYVN also backs a number of other brands, including British EV start-up Forseven and Chinese EV maker Nio.
And according to the Financial Times, they now plan to merge McLaren with Forseven in a radical makeover.
According to their reports, the merger will enable McLaren to widen its model range beyond supercars, including the potential introduction of SUVs.
McLaren has suffered losses for the past five years and has engaged in talks with several other carmakers to form partnerships, and to secure new funding.
However, these talks failed to materialise and brought about negotiations with CYVN, which started roughly a year ago.
The FT states that the merger will be led by Nick Collins, a former Jaguar Land Rover executive, who said: “I vehemently believe luxury is what Britain does brilliantly in automotive.”
British brands such as Bentley and Aston Martin, and their Italian rivals Ferrari and Lamborghini, have all built SUVs and launched SUV-sized models in recent years.
These in turn have helped increase their sales and profits.
Porsche, another luxury carmaker famed for its sports cars, infamously produced the Cayenne in 2002 to a mixed reception.
However, the high-performance SUV has been a mighty success for the company and ensured their financial stability in the 2000s.
McLaren, likely, will be eyeing a similar resurgence.
In an interview last year, their chief executive, Michael Leiters, said: “To unlock the full potential, we think we should extend our line-up without diluting the brand.”
Collins has added that the merged group would be flexible about its models and would “have the ability to adapt our offer to the pace of transition.”
