2026 Audi Q5 review
Supervised toothbrushing in schools will start in weeks after shock rise in kids aged 5 with tooth decay
A NATIONAL program of toothbrushing at schools and pre-schools will start next month in a bid to stop dental decay.
Three, four and five-year-olds will get free brushes and paste donated by Colgate for supervised sessions.

Ministers say 600,000 children each year will benefit from the plan, and rates of decay will start to reduce within two years.
Dental problems are the main cause of hospital admissions for primary school children.
The plan will be aimed at the most deprived parts of England.
It will cost £11million this year to train teachers and staff, and pay for take-home kits, but ministers say it may save the NHS £34million over five years.
The policy was a Labour election manifesto pledge.
Health minister Stephen Kinnock said: “It’s shocking a third of five-year-olds in deprived areas have tooth decay.
“We’re delivering supervised toothbrushing to those most in need.”
Eddie Crouch at the British Dental Association said: “This will save children from pain and our NHS a fortune.”

Figures show some schools already offer supervised toothbrushing to 143,000 kids across the country.
But Paul Whiteman, at school leaders’ union NAHT, said: “We must be careful not to shift a parental responsibility on to the shoulders of schools.
“There is only so much we can expect teachers and school staff to do.”
The Government is under pressure to fix NHS dentistry.

King Charles reveals his favourite musicians including iconic pop star and surprise Brit awards winner
KING Charles has hailed reggae legend Bob Marley as one of his favourite artists.
Kylie Minogue, Grace Jones and Raye also feature on a playlist drawn up by the music-loving monarch, 76.

Charles will celebrate sounds from across the Commonwealth with his very own show, called The King’s Music Room for Apple Music.
A 60-second trailer on his YouTube channel sees him discuss it while Marley’s 1980 hit Could You Be Loved is played by a royal brass band.
Speaking from Buckingham Palace, he said music has always “meant a great deal to me”.
He went on: “It can lift our spirits to such a degree, and all the more so when it brings us together in celebration.
“In other words, it brings us joy.
“So this is what I particularly wanted to share with you, songs which have brought me joy.”
He revealed he was a fan of late reggae icon Marley in 2008 when he paid a visit to his museum in Jamaica.
Brit singer-songwriter Raye performed for Charles in December at Apple’s London HQ in Battersea Power Station.
She told the audience: “I was gonna do Escapism but I think there’s too many swear words.
“The King’s in the vicinity.
“My nan’d never forgive me.”
- THE King’s Music Room will premiere on Apple Music 1 at 6am on Monday for free and will then be available on demand with a subscription.

Dragons’ Den entrepreneur is quitting the show to focus on own business
DRAGONS’ Den entrepreneur Sara Davies is quitting the show to focus on her own business.
The 40-year-old TV presenter, author and businesswoman joined the BBC show in 2019.

At the time she was 35, making her the show’s youngest female Dragon.
She joined following the departure of Jenny Campbell.
Sara wrote on Instagram: “As this last run of Dragons’ comes to an end I have to say I’ve loved every minute of this series so far and I’m so proud of the businesses I’ve invested in this year!
“As a lot of you will know, I’ve taken up my position again as CEO of Crafter’s Companion and my business is my big priority this year.
“And when I commit to a business, I really commit, which is why I find Dragons’ Den such a rewarding role.
“As well as filming an incredible show, being a Dragon requires so much dedication and time behind the scenes as you join the life of each business you invest in.
“It means seeing through your investment and committing to your part in that organisation. It’s so much more than a TV show.
“That’s why I’ve taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business, which was my first baby!
“So I won’t be filming with the team this year for the next series.”
Sara, from County Durham will continue to be seen on episodes to be shown later this year.
