Easter holiday warning as families urged to ‘contact their GP’ before visiting winter sun hotspot

FAMILIES booking trips to Morocco for the Easter break are urged to “check with their GP” first after a highly contagious disease outbreak.

There were thousands of measles cases and six deaths in just one week in the popular winter sun hotspot, figures from last month suggest.

Measles is a highly contagious disease that usually starts with cold-like symptoms before developing into a blotchy rash.

It can cause serious complications if the virus spreads to other parts of the body, such as the lungs or brain – sometimes leading to lifelong disabilities and even death.

Babies, pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems are the most vulnerable.

According to local media quoting the Moroccan Ministry of Health, 3,365 confirmed measles cases and six deaths were reported across the country between February 10 and February 16, 2025

A large chunk of these infections – 21.1 per cent in fact – were reported in Fez, with 713 cases that month.

Fez is one of Morocco’s ancient cities, famous for its UNESCO World Heritage site – and cheap flights from the UK.

Meanwhile, Marrakesh reported 225 cases, accounting for 6.7 per cent of the country’s total.

Other areas affected by the outbreak include Tangier, Casablanca, the Atlas Mountains, Oujda, Agadir, and Merzouga.

It comes as the US reported a major outbreak, marking its first measles death since 2015.

“Travelling abroad may increase your risk of measles,” it says on the NHS’ Fit for Travel website, highlighting the outbreak in Morocco.

It said: “Your risk of exposure may be higher if you will be visiting friends and relatives and/or mixing with the local population during your trip.

“Check with your GP before travelling to ensure you have received two doses of MMR vaccination.”

The MMR vaccine protects against measles, mumps and rubella and it’s recommended that all babies and children get it.

Approximately 15 per cent of five-year-olds in the UK haven’t yet received both doses of the MMR vaccine, according to the most recent data, with significantly lower coverage in some communities.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) says at least 95 per cent of the population needs to be vaccinated in order to prevent measles outbreaks.

Children are offered their first dose at age one and their second at three years and four months, just before they start school.

However, if they, or anyone else, miss any jabs, they can catch up at any time at their GP surgery.

a poster showing the measles symptoms timeline

Unvaccinated children who come into contact with the disease are currently being advised to stay at home for 21 days.

People should also avoid shopping and public transport including planes if they fall ill, experts have said.

This is because measles is highly contagious, with a patient typically passing the infection on to 20 others.

Expert answers MMR questions

TO help deal with parental concerns, Professor Helen Bedford, a specialist in child public health at University College London, tells you all you need to know about the MMR vaccine.

When is the vaccine given?

The MMR vaccine is part of the NHS Routine Childhood Immunisation Programme.

It’s typically given via a single shot into the muscle of the thigh or the upper arm.

The first dose is offered to children at the age of one (babies younger than this may have some protection from antibodies passed on from their mother, which start to wear off at about 12 months.)

The second dose is then offered to children aged three years and four months before they start school.

To check to see if you or your child have had the recommended two doses of MMR, you can look at their/your Personal Child Health Record, also known as the red book.

If you can’t find the red book, call your GP and ask them for your vaccine records.

You are never too old to catch up with your MMR vaccine.

If you see from your vaccination records that you did not receive two doses as a child, you can book a vaccination appointment.

Is the vaccine safe?

The MMR vaccine is safe and effective at preventing measles, mumps and rubella.

In the UK, we started using the jab in 1988, so we have decades of experience using it.

The jab is made from much-weakened live versions of the three viruses.

This triggers the immune system to produce antibodies that are protective in the face of future exposure.

It takes up to three weeks after having the vaccine to be fully protected.

Like any vaccine, the MMR jab can cause side-effects, which are usually mild and go away very quickly.

This includes rash, high temperature, loss of appetite and a general feeling of being unwell for about two or three days.

There is also a very small chance children can have a severe allergic reaction.

But compared to the complications of measles, there is no contest that vaccination is by far the safest and most effective route to take.

Why was it linked with autism?

In 1998, Andrew Wakefield and his colleagues published a now-discredited paper in medical journal The Lancet.

The paper suggested that the MMR vaccine might be associated with autism and a form of bowel disease.

It led to a sharp decline in vaccination rates.

Even at the time, the research was considered poor.

The Lancet retracted the story in 2010 after Wakefield’s article was found “dishonest” by the General Medical Council.

He was later struck off and subsequently, in 2011, the British Medical Journal declared the story fraudulent.

Does it contain ingredients from pigs?

There are two types of MMR jabs: One with gelatin (animal/pig collagen), and one without it.

For some religious groups, the inclusion of pig products is not acceptable.

Those people should ask for the vaccine without gelatin.

I nabbed a £6K kitchen for £250 INCLUDING appliances – here’s where and how I ended up making a £500 profit from it too

A SAVVY home renovator has shown how he managed to nab a stunning kitchen worth £6,000 AND appliances for just £250.

Money-minded Michael Quadri posted to his TikTok account (@_mikeslife), clueing his followers in on his budget hack.

In his video, Mike showed off the gorgeous cream kitchen he’d scored.

The units looked sleek and modern, with wood-effect counters and a swanky induction hob.

Mike had found the knock-down Wren kitchen on Facebook Marketplace, where it was listed for just £250.

“Guys, Facebook Market is an absolute plug,” he told viewers.

With the cost of new furniture so high, Mike had resorted to buying second hand and ex-display items to give his home a major makeover for less.

He’s not alone with the struggles of forking out for home renovation – as thousands of us across the nation hunt for ways to update our house on the cheap.

Mike said he’d even kitted bedrooms out for £200-£300 thanks to his thrifty finds.

Incredibly, his bargain kitchen even came with all the appliances he needed, including a double oven and dishwasher.

But after reevaluating the aesthetic he was going for, Mike decided he wanted to shift the kitchen and buy a different one.

He managed to list it back on Facebook Marketplace and sell it for a mega £750 – securing a £500 profit in the process.

“I reckon I could have got way more,” he told viewers, “but because I needed it gone in, like, two days, I was in a rush of time.”

Users in the comments couldn’t believe Mike’s luck.

One person wrote: “Facebook marketplace has some serious gems!!!”

A second person said: “Bargain!!”

Somebody else asked: “What do you normally search up to find this stuff?”

Mike advised: “I search for ‘full/whole kitchens'”

What is Facebook Marketplace?

Facebook Marketplace is a part of the social media website where users can buy and sell items with other users.

It’s similar to eBay or Vinted.

Sellers list their unwanted items, along with a picture and price.

Buyers then browse and bid on items they like the look of.

Buyers and sellers can message each other to arrange transactions, using the chat function.

Ignorant OnlyFans star risks ‘public whipping’ & imprisonment as she travels to Afghanistan & gains controversial clicks

AN ignorant OnlyFans content creator travelled to Afghanistan last week to secure some controversial clicks on social media.

But porn star Whitney Wright risked barbaric Taliban punishment – which could have included a public whipping or lengthy prison sentence – in the process.

Whitney shared pictures like this from her trip, among selfies and snaps of architecture[/caption]

The 33-year-old has been working as a porn actress since 2016 and as a porn director since 2019.

She visited Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, among other areas, and shared a series of selfies, pictures of architecture and city skylines.

The Taliban has maintained control over the country since it took over in August 2021 with an oppressive regime – which severely restricts women’s rights, including bans on education, employment and freedom of movement.

The ongoing human rights violations, along with the threat of violence from militant groups and internal conflict, make the country particularly dangerous for women and foreign nationals to travel to.

Afghanistan also has very strict laws regarding adult content and internet usage.

X-rated star Whitney, who is from Oklahoma in the US, ignored her government’s official advice regarding travel to the country.

The US Department of State warns its citizens: “Do not travel to Afghanistan due to civil unrest, crime, terrorism, risk of wrongful detention, kidnapping and limited health facilities.

If her pornographic career had been found out, Whitney’s safety could have been compromised while on her travels.

That’s because, in Afghanistan, the legal consequences for being involved with adult content (such as OnlyFans material) can be severe, given the country’s strict interpretation of Islamic law.

Pornography is classed as a “moral crime” in the eyes of the Taliban, and is considered as ‘bad’ as adultery, robbery, prostitution and gay sex.

Women accused of such crimes have been flogged in front of thousands of onlookers in recent years.

Flogging, also known as whipping, is a barbaric punishment including beating a person’s body with whips, rods or other implements.

During its rule from 1996 to 2001, the Taliban was condemned for regularly carrying out such savage punishments in public, which included floggings and executions at the national stadium in Kabul, where Whitney visited.

When the Islamic group took control again in 2021, bosses said they would not repeat the brutal repression of women.

Why was TikTok banned in Afghanistan?

A spokesman for the militant rulers of Afghanistan insisted the popular platform’s “filthy content was not consistent with Islamic laws”.

It is “misleading the younger generation”, Inamullah Samangani added on X (formerly Twitter).

The Taliban also decided to block the popular South Korean PUBG battlegrounds game and bar Afghan telly channels from airing “immoral” content.

Samangani said at the time: “We’ve received a lot of complaints about how the TikTok app and PUBG game are wasting people’s time.

“The ministry of communications and information technology was ordered to remove the apps from internet servers and make them inaccessible to everyone in Afghanistan.”

However, women’s freedoms have once again been severely curbed and a number of women have been beaten for demanding rights over the last four years.

Porn star Whitney has been slammed for promoting tourism to the country on her social media channels.

Following her selection of pictures posted to Instagram, people expressed their outrage in the comments.

One critic wrote: “It just makes me so frustrated seeing you spend your money on tourism in these oppressed countries where women are hardly allowed to breathe outside their homes because that is considered to be ’too sensual’.

“Why would you EVER want to promote and give money to these governments? You are giving a huge misleading picture of what countries like Afghanistan and Iran really are like for the WOMEN who live there.”

Another slammed: “How could you go there and promote it knowing what happens to women there?”

A third warned: “It’s not safe for a woman with an occupation like yours.”

Whitney even claims that a local man tried to set her up with his son.

She wrote on Instagram: “A nice older man in Herat tried to set me up with his son who lives in Germany when he found out I was single.

“But when he called him, his son asked if I spoke any German. I do not – so it was not a match.”

This is not the first time Whitney has travelled to a controversial country and shared it online.

In February last year, she visited Iran, where women are facing similar struggles of oppression and violence.

Iranian actress Setareh Pesyani condemned the government for allowing Whitney into the country on the basis of pornography being illegal there. She claimed that the visit could have even put Whitney at risk for the death penalty.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps denied having known of her involvement in pornography at the time that her travel visa was issued.

My pal & I tried to be Del Boy and Rodders after buying a £195 shoe returns pallet but opening it was a different story

A WOMAN who embarked on a side hustle with her friend in a bid to make a bit of extra cash has admitted the attempt was a total disaster.

Ellie and her pal thought they were going to be “Del Boy and Rodney” – the Only Fools and Horses money-making favourites – when they made the decision to fork out £195 on a returns pallet of shoes.

She explained in a video on TikTok that the listing had stated the size 3 shoes included pairs of Vivienne Westwood Melissa flats.

So she and her friend Danielle took the gamble, and drove two hours to pick the pallet up.

But when they opened it up, they realised it was a huge mistake – and the pallet was full of individual, single shoes.

“There’s no pairs whatsoever,” Ellie sighed, as she wrote over the video that their money had gone “down the drain”.

“Absolutely hundreds of single shoes – no pairs.”

She then showed that her entire car boot, and the back seats of the vehicle, were completely covered by single shoes of all variety.

“So yeah, if anyone knows anyone that’s only got one leg or any other ideas where I can give them away,” Ellie concluded.

“Then just let me know! Thank you.”

She jokingly added in the caption that she and Danielle were “business ladies in the making”.

People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “They haven’t mis-described it.

“They said assorted shoes, not pairs of shoes.

“It’s an auction. you can go to the site and view the pallet – the terms are clear on the auction site.”

“‘Vivienne Westwood Melissa SANDALS’ – sandals plural,” Ellie replied.

“I bought a pallet of what was advertised as joggers and jackets to get a pallet of women’s Chinese military suits ,” another wrote.

“I had to skip them all, £280 down the drain.”

But Ellie revealed she wouldn’t let the pallet situation put her off buying another in the future, as she replied: “Nooo way, win some lose some.

Quick guide to buying return pallets

Here's where to buy the most popular return pallets:

“Hopefully our next pallet is a winner!”

“First rule of auctions, buyer beware,” a third commented.

“This is the risk to blind bidding and not viewing the lot in person or asking the auction house for more photos,” someone else insisted.

John Pye Auctions has been contacted for comment.

Major broadcast change as BBC makes huge football event previously shown on Sky Sports free-to-air

THE BBC has agreed a new deal that will see Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland matches shown on free-to-air television from the upcoming international break.

All three teams are set to battle it out for a place at next summer’s World Cup over the coming months.

The Irish FA praised the ‘new chapter’[/caption]

And for the first time in over two decades, every fixture will be shown on free-to-air TV across the United Kingdom.

The BBC has reached an agreement with Uefa allowing 41 matches to be shown live across its channels.

The deal also includes at least two international friendlies and Scotland’s Nations League play-off with Greece later this month.

It is the first time the BBC has secured full live rights for all three nations.

Rhodri Talfan Davies, director of BBC Nations, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that fans across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will now be able to enjoy live, free-to-air coverage of all the big international football matches.

“Nothing fires the imagination more than live international sport and the race to qualify for the world’s biggest tournament.

“It’s going to be quite a ride and I’m thrilled the BBC will be there every step of the way.”

This month will mark the first time a Wales qualifier is broadcast on free-to-air TV since 2004.

FAW CEO Noel Mooney revealed: “As we approach an exciting World Cup qualification campaign with Craig Bellamy at the helm, the Football Association of Wales is looking forward to working with BBC Cymru Wales, on their free-to-air coverage of the Cymru men’s national team.

“It’s fantastic that every Welsh fan will be able to watch our matches for free via the BBC’s fantastic coverage.”

Meanwhile, Scotland fixtures have largely been placed behind a paywall for over 15 years – aside from a few shown on YouTube recently.

And as for Northern Ireland, the team’s last two fixtures in November were not televised at all.

On the new deal, Irish FA Chief Executive Patrick Nelson said: “We have enjoyed a long-standing partnership with BBC NI to promote our domestic game across radio, TV and online.

“This is a new chapter which builds on this foundation, and we hope to share more success following the journey of this exciting senior men’s team.”

With Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales fixtures to be shown live on the BBC, England’s fixtures will remain on ITV.

The broadcaster took over the rights from Channel 4 in September.

That means the new BBC deal will not impact coverage of the Three Lions.

Previously, some international games have been broadcast on Sky Sports.

And in recent years the rights have been held by Premier Sports.

Live matches shown on the BBC in March

  • Thursday, 20 March – Greece v Scotland (Nations League)
  • Friday, 21 March – Northern Ireland v Switzerland (friendly)
  • Saturday, 22 March – Wales v Kazakhstan (World Cup qualifier)
  • Sunday, 23 March – Scotland v Greece (Nations League)
  • Tuesday, 25 March – Sweden v Northern Ireland (friendly), North Macedonia v Wales (World Cup qualifier)

Everton agree £350m stadium deal and could save millions ahead of move into new home

EVERTON have agreed a new financing package for their Bramley-Moor Docks stadium.

The Toffees have shook hands on a £350m funding deal that restructures the lending used to build their new home.

Everton, who are due to move into the new ground at the start of next season, have agreed the changes in what is thought to be a multi-decade deal.

It’s understood that the agreement could save Everton millions down the line, with the remaining debt on the 52,888-seat stadium simplified from its previous complex and expensive arrangements.

The Merseyside outfit have told of “competitive terms beneficial to Everton”, in statement announcing the changes spearheaded by new owners The Friedkin Group.

TFG have secured lower interest rates on the loans than what had been previously agreed by former owner Farhad Moshiri.

The £350m funding has been agreed with “a consortium of blue-chip institutional lenders”, according to the club.

Everton’s statement said: “The financing is part of The Friedkin Group’s commitment to strengthen and stabilise the Club to provide the foundations for on-pitch success.”

The Toffees got the keys to their new home in December and have since held their first of three test events before their big move next season.

Some 10,000 fans attended the ground to watch Everton’s U18s take on Wigan’s U18s on the waterfront.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS

The second test event will take place later this month, with 25,000 fans set to attend an U21s game.

Work still continues on the £760m project as premium lounges and bars continue to be fitted in the finishing touches to what will be the Premier League’s sixth largest stadium next term.

Everton will be waving goodbye to the iconic Goodison Park at the end of the season – home to the club for over 130 years.

Returning boss David Moyes is going a great job at giving the ground a proper send off too.

Everton have lost just one of their eight Premier League games since Moyes returned to the dugout.

While the Scot has lifted them from just two points clear of the drop zone to some 15 points ahead of 18th placed Ipswich Town.

Five fans fuming as they struggle to get tour tickets as band reunites after 25 years – and EYEWATERING prices revealed

FIVE fans have been left fuming this morning as they struggled to get reunion tour tickets that had been hiked up to eyewatering prices.

Band members Abz Love, J Brown, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Sean Conlon recently announced their comeback – but some fans already aren’t happy.

However fans have been left fuming by high ticket prices and long queues[/caption]

The iconic boyband thrilled fans in the late 90s and early noughties with hits like Keep On Movin’, Got The Feelin’ and When The Lights Go Out.

The boys – who were all teenagers at the time – were handpicked from 3000 hopefuls, by the same people who put the Spice Girls together.

However, after a breakdown in the group, they split in September 2001.

That’s why Five fans were thrilled when they revealed they were getting back together AND going on a huge tour.

Last week, they announced they would perform 12 dates in cities including London, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Cardiff, and Birmingham with tickets going on sale today at 10am.

However, much like Oasis found on their reunion tour, fans have been left disgruntled after prices soared as demand for tickets went through the roof.

As fans logged on to bag themselves a place on the tour they were faced with long queues and price hikes.

While ticket prices were initially listed between £50.75 to £114.90, The Sun spotted seats going for £130 to £316 at London’s O2 – with the highest price at the venue going for £577 for a Row A ticket.

Outside of the capital, prices had hiked to £110 to £200.

Fans have now taken to social media to vent, with one writing: “Please sort the tickets out Five! This is not on!”

While another fumed: “I got kicked out of the app 3 times even though was logged in & you can see I am a ‘normal’ buyer! Then it just wouldn’t let me back in…”

Another vented: “Still trying to get a ticket for Five! This queue!”

Fans were also posting screen grabs of their place in the queue to get tickets, with some as high as 2000 people in front of them.

GETTING BACK TO THEIR BEST

Ahead of the tour, which kicks off on October 31 in Brighton, the group is focusing on getting back to their best.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Richie said: “I’m not saying our bodies will be temples but we’re back in the gym.”

FIVE! TOUR DATES

  • Brighton Centre, Brighton: Fri, Oct 31
  • Bournemouth, BIC: Sat, Nov 1
  • Cardiff, Utilita Arena: Sun, Nov 2
  • Nottingham, Motorpoint Arena: Tues, Nov 4
  • Liverpool, M&S Bank Arena: Weds, Nov 5
  • Manchester, AO Arena: Fri, Nov 7
  • Leeds, First Direct Arena: Sat, Nov 8
  • Birmingham, Utilita Arena: Sun, Nov 9
  • London, The O2: Tues, Nov 11

J added: “I’ve been walking around my living room going over lyrics but it’s mostly all there.”

Fans hoping for new music could be in for a treat too, but when asked about it by The Sun, they remained coy.

“We don’t want to focus on anything other than the tour,” Scott said

“We want to make sure that we give the fans the best show. Once we get out of the other end of that, anything’s up for grabs.”

J also addressed why he decided to return to Five, which came as a huge surprise to fans.

“A few years back I went through a personal thing that was quite stressful and it just brought up a load of stuff,” he told us.

“One of the things that was coming up was Five. It’s the overarching theme of our lives since 1997.

“I was overcome with sadness that I was never going to do this again.

“Around five weeks later Abz messaged and said: ‘I really need to speak with you.’ It was like I had put a prayer out to the world and he answered it.”

‘It’s rancid’ woman gags after buying ‘very good’ pair of tracksuit bottoms from Vinted only to make shocking discovery

A WOMAN has shared what she’s described as the “worst Vinted order in history”.

Kat Hibberd ordered herself a stylish blue tracksuit from the online marketplace app, but was left gagging after her shocking discovery.

Kat’s clip left social media users stunned[/caption]

The brunette beauty, who has over 87,200 followers on TikTok, took to the video sharing platform to show off the ‘rancid’ stain she found on her purchase, leaving many totally gobsmacked.

The content creator found what she believed to be a period stain mark on the crotch of the tracksuit bottoms – despite them being listed as in ‘very good’ condition.

In her short clip which has now gone viral on social media, Kat gave her followers a close-up look at the stain as she said: “I don’t think anyone is ever gonna be able to top this.

“I’ve had the worst Vinted order in history, so I’m actually in shock.

“The Boohoo set of joggers and a hoodie, listed as very good. In the pictures, you couldn’t see any stains or anything like that.

“So I’ve just received it. Not prepared for what the f**k I’m about to show you.

“I understand stains and little marks like this being missed, right? I’ve just turned them over to check the back.”

Giving viewers a close-up look at the stain, Kat asked: “How the f**k you gonna send out an item like that to somebody and list it as very good?”

Clearly in disbelief, she continued: “Is that period?”

Kat then explained: “I’m a woman, right, I have a vagina. I understand that periods happen and we leak, I understand that, no hate towards that whatsoever.

“But how the f**k are you gonna list an item as ‘very good’ and send it out not only with a couple of stains, but a big f*****g m***e splash stain?

“I have a lot of patience when it comes to Vinted but how the f**k are you not gonna see that when you’re packing it?”

How the f**k you gonna send out an item like that to somebody and list it as very good?

Kat Hibberd

Visibly disgusted, she slammed: “That is f*****g rancid, mate, I actually feel like I need to go and have a bath, I need to scrub my skin.

“What is going on with Vinted? That is a story and a half. What the actual hell?”

Not only this, but Kat later shared: “Luckily because she cancelled the order I got my refund straight away BUT I can’t leave a review!! It’s a joke.”

Social media users react

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @kathrynhibberd, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 2.3 million views, 95,600 likes and 3,952 comments.

Social media users were stunned by the ‘rancid’ stain and eagerly flocked to the comments to express this.

Why I hate Vinted, a real-life view

Fabulous Associate Editor Sarah Barns opens up on why she hates Vinted:

It’s the king of second-hand fashion but I hate Vinted.

There I said it. Yes, it stops items going into landfill. Yes, it helps create additional side-hustle income for many.

And yes, you can get things at bargain prices. But it is just not my (shopping) bag.

From personal experience, I’ve bought ‘cheap’ bundles of children’s clothes only for them to arrive dirty and misshapen.

Plus, with postage and buyer protection they didn’t feel like such a great deal. I much prefer going to my local charity shop or supermarket for kids’ stuff.

I’ve also bought more premium high-street items – a dress from Arket and a skirt from Cos – only to find they didn’t fit properly and the colours were faded.

I attempted a bout of selling stuff but gave up after my £110 Veja trainers got lost in the post and I spent two hours on the phone to Royal Mail.

A major gripe with it is that it still encourages you to spend, spend, spend. I’m not sure I needed the items I did purchase, I just didn’t want to miss out.

Also, the reselling of fast-fashion items – a £5 Shein top on Vinted for £17.50 – makes me feel a bit queasy.

Clothes shopping has become a daily hobby for a lot of people when really it should be something that’s done once or twice a year as a necessity.

But the 18 million Vinted app users clearly disagree with me.

One user questioned: “That is rancid, who does this?”

A second chimed in: “How do people not feel any embarrassment omg.”

Whilst another penned: “This is shocking.”

At the same time, many Vinted users opened up about their order fails.

I bought a pair of jeans from Vinted. They were listed as new. Turned up with a white crusty patch in the crotch

TikTok user

One person said: “My friend received a plushie that was INFESTED with bed bugs. She had a whole infestation in her room and had to throw her mattress away.”

Another added: “I bought a pair of Hokas and they sent me a PIECE OF CARDBOARD.”

Meanwhile, someone else commented: “I bought a pair of jeans from Vinted. They were listed as new. Turned up with a white crusty patch in the crotch.

“Clearly they had been worn with no knickers. Made me feel disgusted. Gross.”
