Guardian ‘played judge, jury and executioner’ of Noel Clarke’s career in ‘unlawful conspiracy’ over sex claims

THE Guardian played “judge, jury and executioner” of Noel Clarke’s career in an “unlawful conspiracy” over sex claims, a court heard.

The award-winning actor is suing the newspaper for libel over seven articles and a podcast that alleged he was sexually inappropriate towards women.

In written submissions, Clarke’s legal team said claims that he was a “serial abuser of women” were false.

The High Court was also told that the “conspirators'” intention was to cause him “irreparable” financial and reputational damage.

Clarke has accused Guardian News and Media (GNM) of playing “the role of judge, jury and executioner” of his career and reputation.

The articles featured claims from a number of women in the film and TV industry who claimed Clarke groped them and was sexually inappropriate over many years.

His lawyer Philip Williams said that while GNM’s investigation took place over three-and-a-half weeks, Clarke was “barely able to reply to the allegations” and was only originally given 24 hours to respond.

He also told the court the articles, which were published between 2021 and 2022, were not framed “in an even-handed tone”.

Mr Williams explained the Kidulthood star has become “completely exiled” from the film industry following the allegations and is perceived as a “criminal” by those he previously worked with.

He accused GNM’s sources of having an “axe to grind” against the Doctor Who actor and branded them “hostile”.

The barrister said 14 of the complainants were involved in a conspiracy and the journalists involved in the articles were aware.

But Gavin Millar KC, for GNM, has argued that there is “ample evidence” that all of the articles were true or substantially true.

He told the court GNM reasonably believed that publishing all of the statements at the centre of the libel case was in the public interest.

The lawyer added: “The defendant will adduce evidence from 16 women who experienced the claimant’s misconduct first-hand, some of them on multiple occasions.

“There is no motive for them to lie and the claimant has not suggested any, beyond making wild allegations as to an alleged conspiracy.”

Clarke, who vehemently denies the allegations, will give evidence in the libel trial.

GNM said around 16 women will tell the court about the award-winning actor and producer’s alleged conduct.

The court previously heard that Clarke has asked to amend his claim, which will be dealt with after the libel trial finishes.

As well as increasing his claim for special damages to more than £70million, he wants to bring further action – alleging that multiple people conspired against him using fabricated reports of misconduct or sexual assault.

The hearing before Mrs Justice Steyn is due to conclude in April, with a decision expected in writing at a later date.

US pornstar Whitney Wright poses with AK-47 in AFGHANISTAN after ‘being welcomed by woman-hating Taliban’ sparking fury

INFAMOUS US pornstar Whitney Wright has been captured posing with an AK-47 in Afghanistan after “being welcomed” by the “woman-hating” Taliban.

The 33-year-old caused uproar last year after she visited Iran, putting herself at risk of arrest and being sentenced to the death penalty with the country’s laws making sex work illegal.

Pornography is classed as a ‘moral crime’ carries severe punishment in the country[/caption]

Furious activists have slammed Wright after she bizarrely shared her travel snaps on social media where she poses with what looks to be an AK-47 in the Islamic nation.

The pornstar has since deleted the unbelievable image of her wielding the gargantuan weapon.

Wright also shared pics of some of the country’s tourist landmarks, like the Herat Citadel, the Sabz Masjid and the Green Mosque in Balkh.

She simply captioned the unbelievable carousel of snaps with “Afghanistan”.

In Taliban-controlled country, women are unable to leave the house without a man, speak in public or even look through a window while home.

The Afghanistan government’s strict “virtue and vice” laws force women to stop doing various things in public, like showing their face and bodies, singing or reading aloud, and looking at men they are not related to.

Women in the country are also no longer able to visit national parks or beauty salons, play sports or even go solo travelling beyond the perimeter of their houses due to sickening morality laws.

The X-rated star from Oklahoma in the US has consistently ignored her government’s official advice regarding travel to various countries.

Wright has also previously travelled to other predominantly Muslim nations like Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

Afghanistan also has very strict laws regarding adult content and internet usage.

The Taliban have not commented on Wright’s questionable visit to Afghanistan during the holy month of Ramadan.

Wright would likely have needed high-level approval to enter the country given the need for a visa and the lack of US consular services there.

Activists have slammed the porn star and the “hypocritical” government for promoting Afghanistan as a tourist destination, while women in the country are “imprisoned in their own homeland”.

Speaking to RFE/RL’s Radio Azadi, women’s rights activist Washma Tokhi said: “Afghan women are imprisoned in their own homeland, while foreign visitors – no matter their background – are treated with hospitality.”

She also called the decision to grant a tourist visa to US porn star Wright “fundamentally hypocritical”.

Radio Azadi also reports claims that female tourists are being invited and therefore encouraged to visit Afghanistan as it desperately seeks to soften its dire international reputation and give a false image that the country is safe for women.

But another interviewee, Nasima Bidargar, said how “this freedom is only for foreigners”.

Some social media sites like Instagram and TikTok are beginning to show travel guides for Afghanistan, created by female travel influencers from countries like the UK, Australia and Hungary.

The Foreign Office advises against all travel to Afghanistan, with the security situation described as “volatile”.

Taliban’s anti-woman laws

THE Taliban has unleashed a reign of terror since seizing control of Afghanistan in August 2021.

Its cruel administration claims that Islamic law “guarantees” the rights of Afghan men and women.

But women have been progressively erased from public spaces, prompting the United Nations to denounce the “gender apartheid” the administration has established.

Women are barred from many ordinary activities by the hardline Islamic regime such as studying and working.

Taliban authorities have banned post-primary education for girls and women, restricted employment and blocked access to parks and other public places.

Last year, the brutal regime banned women from training to become midwives.

A recent law even prohibits women from singing or reciting poetry in public under the Taliban government’s ultra-strict application of Islamic law.

It also encourages them to “veil” their voices and bodies outside the home.

In July 2023, the Taliban banned women’s salons and parlours – taking away their final places of recreation and relaxation.

Months prior, they stopped all sports for girls and women and ordered women to stop entering gymnasiums and parks.

Some local radio and television stations have also stopped broadcasting female voices.

Taliban forces previously imposed a harsh version of Islamic rule on Afghans before they were ousted after the US-led invasion in 2001.

Girls were barred from school and women were banned working outside the home or being seen in public with a male relative.

And those who broke the rules faced floggings, beheadings, hangings, and crucifixions.

First look at Tesla rival as major carmaker unveils sneak peak preview of new ‘futuristic’ EV

A MAJOR carmaker has unveiled its new “futuristic” EV rival to Tesla in a sneak peak preview.

Volvo’s subtle reveal came during a video that launched its separate ES90 model, the manufacturer’s first-ever electric saloon.

The SUV is set to rival the likes of the Tesla Model Y[/caption]

During the clip, keen-eyed viewers could briefly spot the carmaker’s next newest all-electric model, based on its XC60 crossover.

Hiding under a large sheet, the rear of the brand new EX60 was spotted in a dusty pink colour.

The super quick glimpse was snuck into the ES90’s video and revealed the SUV for the first time.

It appears to look like a slightly shrunken version of the seven-seat EX90, although the rear lights seem more in line with the smaller-sized EX30.

The motor is designed to slot in perfectly as the medium-sized electric crossover between the EX30 and EX90, according to Top Gear.

Volvo will be hoping it sells well against tough competition that includes the Tesla Model Y, Polestar 2, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and countless more.

The EX60 will be the first car that Volvo will build on its next-gen SPA3 platform, although there are no words yet on what that means for its battery size or motor output.

On top of this, Volvo has said it has created something called “Superset tech stack” for the EX90.

This feature is described as being like a set of building blocks, and all subsequent Volvo EVs will utilise its same fundamental core of systems, software, and hardware.

TopElectricSUV expects the new vehicle to feature an exterior with a mixture of “modern but conventional proportions with futuristic design elements.”

The car experts also said: “[It will have] a spacious and minimalist interior, class-leading safety and ADAS features, and a frugal zero-emissions powertrain.

“Considering the powertrain and technology to be included, the EX60 is poised to be the most advanced EV coming out of Gothenburg.”

The SUV’s sneak reveal came amidst the launch of Volvo’s all-new ES90 Saloon.

With a range of up to 434 miles, it also positions itself as a major contender in the ever-growing electric car market.

The ES90 is built on Volvo’s SPA2 architecture and features 800-volt charging technology, a significant upgrade over previous models.

This allows for faster charging speeds, with the ability to add 186 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

The car comes with two battery options: an 88kWh version for the single-motor model, and a 102kWh battery for the twin-motor versions.

The range varies between 404 miles for the smaller battery and 434 miles for the larger one.

In terms of performance, the ES90 offers three powertrain configurations.

The base model comes with a 328bhp rear-wheel-drive setup, while the more powerful twin-motor versions deliver up to 671bhp.

The car can accelerate from 0-62mph in as little as 4.0 seconds for the high-performance variant, with a top speed of 112mph for all models.

The ES90 is also equipped with advanced computing technology, powered by dual Nvidia Orin processors.

This system is capable of handling 508 trillion operations per second, supporting Volvo’s latest active safety features and enabling future over-the-air updates.

Willie Mullins’ Lossiemouth smashed in the betting as punters bank on astonishing Cheltenham U-turn

WILLIE MULLINS’ wondermare Lossiemouth has been smashed in the betting for the Champion Hurdle – as punters bank on an amazing Cheltenham U-turn.

Owner Rich Ricci said at Sun Racing’s Cheltenham Preview Night in association with Tote that her Festival target would be decided after a key piece of work this weekend.

Jockey Paul Townend, trainer Willie Mullins, and winning horse Lossiemouth at the Fairyhouse Winter Festival.
Lossiemouth was a big drifter for the Champion Hurdle but punters have backed her right back in again
Sportsfile

He refused to rule out a move to the Mares’ Hurdle while Mullins had hinted the Champion Hurdle was definitely still an option.

Lossiemouth was backed off the boards for the Mares’ Hurdle on the Betfair Exchange but has since drifted from 5-4 to 11-5.

And she has been punted in for the Champion Hurdle, where, at the time of writing, she is 9-1 having been 12s.

Betfair spokesperson Barry Orr said: “She drifted out to 12-1 in the Champion Hurdle markets while shortening for the Mares’ Hurdle but her price has since found its level.

“It would look like the Champion Hurdle is her preferred option.”

Should Lossiemouth line up in the Champion Hurdle then she will be contesting a race for the ages.

Gordon Elliott’s Brighterdaysahead has been unstoppable this season and will attempt to get the better of Nicky Henderson’s odds-on Constitution Hill.

Mullins also has defending champ State Man in the mix.

More to follow.

I tried the first ever “for mums, by mums” vibrator — it was so quiet I used it while my partner was on a work call

Collage of a woman holding a teal sex toy.
supplied

AS a mum of two, I know all too well how it feels to lose control of your body after birth and feel disconnected from yourself.

So, I was super excited to try the first vibrator designed by mums, for mums — courtesy of Smile Makers.

Made from ultra-soft material, The Whisperer is specifically designed to help women reconnect with pleasure after childbirth.

The curved head gently hugs the clitoris, while its flexible body allows for soft, controlled pressure. And its super quiet settings are ideal for anyone looking to ease back into pleasure after a break without worrying about noise.

Designed in partnership with the experts at Mumsnet, It’s already received glowing reviews and boasts a 4.9-star rating online, so here’s hoping it leaves me with a smile on my face!

Pros

  • Rechargeable battery
  • Three speeds and two pulsation modes
  • Affordable
  • Waterproof
  • Very quiet (if not totally silent)

Cons

  • Better for solo play than intercourse
  • There are already similar products on the market

Rating: 9/10

How I tested The Whisperer

The Whisperer, £34.95 £29.71 from Smile Makers using code WHISPERER

As The Sun’s Sexpert, I’ve tested a lot of vibrators over the years, and my partner often gets dragged along for the ride. (Not that he’s complaining, of course).

I gave The Whisperer a solo test run first before I paired it with intercourse to add a helping hand.

Smile Makers The Whisperer review: Quickfire Q&A

How much is The Whisperer? It’s a very reasonable £34.95. And to celebrate Mother’s Day, Smile Makers is running a 15% off code — simply enter WHISPERER at checkout to claim.

Who’s it best for? It’s been designed specifically for mothers, who often worry about rediscovering their sexuality after childbirth. It’s perfect for solo play, but if you’re after a shared experience, you can easily incorporate it into intercourse for an added thrill.

What I loved: The toy feels super silky, looks cute, and is totally unintimidating. It’s easy to use, and the best part? It comes fully charged — because nothing kills the mood faster than having to wait for a charge before the fun begins!

What I didn’t: Honestly? It’s hard to find a fault. The packaging doesn’t look like a sex toy, which I suppose could be a little confusing, but this does make it very discreet.

Smile Makers The Whisperer review: The Nitty Gritty

First impressions

Smile Makers’ marketing makes it feel like a teeth-whitening brand[/caption]

The Whisperer, £34.95 £29.71 from Smile Makers using code WHISPERER

When I first opened the package, I genuinely thought I’d ordered a teeth-whitening kit.

The sleek white and mint-green packaging, the lips logo, and the name Smile Makers — is this a cheeky marketing trick? If so, it’s bloody genius!

With so many people too embarrassed to buy sex toys, this one is perfectly discreet.

But let’s get to the juicy bit. This tiny but mighty vibrator comes fully charged (hallelujah!), so you can get straight down to business the moment you unwrap it. No awkward waiting, just instant satisfaction.

Designed to look like a lipstick, it slips straight into your handbag – meaning pleasure on the go has never been easier.

As a mum of two, I know how easy it is to lose yourself after having kids.

That’s why I love that this product is created by mums, for mums — because let’s be honest, no one understands a woman’s body better than another woman.

Does it… deliver?

The Whisperer makes up for a lack of intensity in gentle, sensual pleasure[/caption]

The Whisperer, £34.95 £29.71 from Smile Makers using code WHISPERER

The Whisperer’s silky-soft design makes it ideal for postpartum bodies and anyone who finds hard plastic or metal toys uncomfortable.

With three speeds and two pulsation modes, there’s plenty of variety, even if the strongest setting isn’t as intense as some other toys.

But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in gentle, sensual pleasure.

The curved tip keeps things soft and unintimidating, making it perfect for new mums looking to reconnect with themselves without diving straight into something too intense.

While some vibrators go full throttle, this one takes its time, building pleasure slowly and sensually — which, in my book, makes for an even better orgasm.

I played around with the settings, and when it finally tipped me over the edge (in less than a few minutes, might I add), it was well worth the wait.

Sure, I could have jumped straight to the highest setting, but a slow build-up makes the finale so much more explosive.

And the best part? It’s so quiet that I used it while my partner was on an important work call — without anyone being the wiser.

And the best part? It’s so quiet that I used it while my partner was on an important work call — without anyone being the wiser.

I also tested it with my partner during intercourse, and thanks to its soft, squishy texture, it was easy and comfortable to manoeuvre, even in different positions like doggy style and spooning.

It added just the right amount of extra stimulation without being too intimidating for my other half.

What’s more, since it’s fully waterproof, you can even take it into the shower — which I have, erm, more than a few times.

Let’s just say it has definitely spiced up my morning routine!

All in all? A discreet, sensual, and mum-approved bedroom must-have.

How much is The Whisperer?

The Whisperer is just £34.95, making it very affordable.

For the price, it’s great value, especially considering that many vibrators of this size still rely on batteries, whereas this one is rechargeable — saving you both hassle and money in the long run.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, shoppers can get 15% off the toy until the end of March using the code WHISPERER at checkout.

Where to buy The Whisperer

Thanks to the discount code, the best place to buy The Whisperer is probably the Smile Makers website.

However, it’s also available from retailers including Look Fantastic, Cult Beauty and Beauty Bay.

The Whisperer alternatives

There are a few lipstick vibrators on the market, with cheaper models available from So Devine. Ann Summers and Lovehoney.

However, a couple have mixed reviews, and The Whisperer stands out because it’s been designed by mums, with comfort and pleasure in mind.

Smile Makers The Whisperer review: The Verdict

I’m obsessed with this super-quiet lipstick toy - it ticks all the boxes for a clitoral vibrator.

Small, discreet, and seriously powerful, it’s perfect for solo play or sneaky getaways, easily slipped into your bag without anyone knowing.

It’s a gentle, approachable toy, making it ideal for beginners or new mums looking to experiment in a friendly, non-intimidating way.

The silky, soft, and squishy texture feels amazing on postpartum bodies and moves effortlessly during sex.

Plus, it’s waterproof, vegan, and eco-friendly, thanks to its fully rechargeable design — no more wasting money on batteries!

And because it’s waterproof, it’s a breeze to clean and can even join you in the shower.

What’s not to love?

How Chelsea boss Maresca convinced Van Nistelrooy to take Leicester job before watching pal’s horror run

ENZO MARESCA gave Ruud van Nistelrooy the Leicester lowdown and convinced his mate it was the right job.

And Chelsea’s boss believes it is still a good gig even though his pal has won only two Premier League matches since taking over in December.

The ace convinced pal Ruud van Nistelrooy to take charge at the King Power Stadium[/caption]

Maresca guided The Foxes to last season’s Championship title but they are now in freefall straight back out of the top flight.

The Italian bids to further hammer his old club and Van Nistelrooy on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca said: “Ruud is a friend of mine. We played together and then after we have been in contact.

“When Leicester called, he thought to call me and we had a chat. I said to him that Leicester is a fantastic club run by fantastic people.

“I have said many times, I’m 30 years in football and it was probably the best people in football that I’d met. So I told him many good, positive things about Leicester.”

Maresca and Van Nistelrooy briefly shared a dressing room while playing for Spanish side Malaga but will be in opposing dugouts on Sunday afternoon.

City are desperate for points having taken only three points this calendar year.

Maresca remains close to Van Nistelrooy’s players too.

BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS

They even posted a picture of a banner declaring ‘Enzo we miss you’ during their Christmas party.

The Italian said: “The only thing I can say is that I try to create a relationship with players where at the end, I feel very close to them and they probably feel very close to me.

“This is probably the only reason. I still speak with many of Leicester’s players because we had a fantastic season last year and I’m very close to some of them.

“I’ve been in football for more than 30 years. You struggle to find people so, so, so nice, that they care about the family, about the kids, about everything. They are fantastic.

“But the most important thing, let me say, is that we need our fans on Sunday – 95 minutes, 100 minutes, we need to win the game. That is the most important thing.

“At this moment, I’m focused on us. Now I’m here, I’m just thinking about us, how we can improve and then it’s more for Ruud, for the sporting director, for the owner to find a solution.”

Leicester can expect no favours nor an easy approach with squad rotation.

Key midfielder Moises Caicedo is one booking away from a two game ban and Chelsea have arguably tougher matches looming against London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.

But Maresca will not consider resting his tough tackling £115 million star.

He said: “At this moment for us, it’s about winning games. We need to win games, so we cannot plan on giving Moi a rest thinking that he can play against Arsenal.

“We need to win against Leicester and then we need to focus on how we can beat Arsenal. It’s just game by game and we need our best players on the pitch.

“The position of Moises, if you see his background, last year he had 11-12 yellow cards, the year before the same, because he’s a midfielder. You are in the traffic. Sometimes you have to make some fouls. It’s normal.

“Hopefully, he can avoid that until the end, knowing that probably it’s difficult, but the good thing is that we also have Romeo Lavia now, he’s started with us already.

“He can be back. We need to be ready. Reece James can be a midfielder too so we’ll see.”

Hidden UK street used to film Hollywood blockbuster to reopen after £22million revamp

SICILIAN Avenue, known for its independent boutiques and location for huge blockbusters, will soon reopen.

The street in Holborn has undergone a huge £22million transformation and will be open for business this summer after being closed for five years.

New designs for the pedestrian street with shops and a classic red phone booth[/caption]

The pedestrian shopping arcade has been closed to customers for years while the street has been undergoing major refurbishment.

The street runs diagonally between Southampton Row and Bloomsbury Way and is right next to Holborn tube station.

The pedestrian shopping arcade in London‘s West End was initially designed by architect Robert Worley in 1906 and opened in 1910.

Inspired by Italy, hence the name ‘Sicilian’, the street has colonnades, turrets, and large bay windows which are being preserved throughout.

In 2020, the businesses on Sicilian Avenue closed with the Triangle Investment Group entering the refurbishment phase.

A spokesperson for Alchemy Asset Management, which has also been working on the project, said: “We have dealt with many challenges.

“However, due to its rich history and architectural elegance, the structural adaptation has been hugely worthwhile in terms of the fantastic product we have been able to create.”

Designs by MICA Architects reveal there will be a new tiled surface on the road and adds they will “reinstate the grandeur of the avenue”.

Illustrative designs show a busy Sicilian street with a new look, including a brand new floor and lots of retail spots.

For any fans of the old Sicilian Avenue, sadly none of the boutiques and restaurants that were originally there are returning, including the Holborn Whippet pub.

There are 12 commercial units available for lease on Sicilian Avenue but at the moment there’s no insight into which businesses will be filling them.

Currently, you can still walk through Sicilian Avenue, but it does appear very empty with work still underway.

The pedestrian street hasn’t just been home to boutiques and pubs, it’s also been used as a filming location for some iconic movies.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society starring Lily James Glen Powell filmed several scenes on Sicilian Avenue in 2018.

Being a period drama, they transformed the street to look like it was the 1940s.

Actress Gal Gadot and co-star Chris Pine also filmed on Sicilian Avenue for London scenes in the 2017 remake of Wonder Woman.

Here’s another shopping spot in London that we tested out, and it can save you hundreds of pounds.

And another overlooked shopping location in London that’s become a very cool neighbourhood with free shows and trendy bars.

Five Filming Locations Across The UK

Here are more locations in the UK that starred in some of the most famous movies...

Found in Cheshire, Lyme offers some of the most iconic scenes in film history. If I say Pride and Prejudice, you probably know already. Starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, the 1995 production of Pride and Prejudice was filmed in various locations across the UK. But for that very famous moment where Lizzie Bennet sees Mr Darcy emerge from the lake in what became a very see-through shirt.

The Eden Project is home to one of the biggest indoor rainforests and is known for its tropical climates – but not when it transformed into an ice palace. For Pierce Brosnan‘s Die Another Day in 2002, the Eden Project became a frozen landscape.

For any fan of the classic movies, Saltram House in Plymouth is like stepping into a Jane Austen story. And it was in fact used to film the 1995 adaptation of Sense and Sensibility starring Emma ThompsonHugh Grant and Kate Winslet. Saltram House in Devon became Norland Park, the estate that the Dashwood family had to give up.

This incredibly grand Georgian house in Buckingham has more than 300 years of history behind it, and it’s been the backdrop for plenty of movies. With sprawling gardens it’s no wonder movies picked it as the perfect spot. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which was the third instalment, saw Indiana head to Stowe, which was dressed as the Reichstag.

Another trip to save for a sunny day is to the Glencoe National Nature Reserve in Scotland – especially for Harry Potter fans. Not only is the landscape beautiful, but it was also transformed to be part of the wizarding world for almost all of the Harry Potter films. Most famously, it was the location for Hagrid’s hut which was specially built for filming.

Baller League has been a huge success in Germany since it was established by Mats Hummels and Lukas Podolski two years ago.

The tournament is set to involve a combination of football icons and social media stars.

Twelve teams will play in six-a-side matches, with the top four advancing to the final play-off in May.

Managers will assemble their squads next Monday (March 10) in a huge draft.

The first round of matches will then follow two weeks later.

YouTube superstar KSI has been named as president of the UK league, with streamer IShowSpeed fronting the American version.

Football legends Gary Lineker, John Terry and Luis Figo have been lined up as team managers for the new format.
