JONNY Heaver has revealed his terror of appearing on The Apprentice over his facial scars – after being praised by fans.
The entrepreneur became the latest candidate to be axed from the BBC business show this week.

Viewers watched as he was fired by Lord Sugar and sent packing from the boardroom after his team failed to win the latest task, set in Turkey.
Following his exit, Jonny has admitted he was nervous about potential backlash about his facial scars from viewers when he signed up to The Apprentice.
The xx business owner was born with a melanocytic nevus – which is also known as a birthmark – covering half of his face.
With doctors concerned it could be cancerous, he underwent surgery when he was younger to have the mark removed, which left him with scarring.
Speaking about his fears before signing up to The Apprentice, Jonny exclusively told The Sun: “It did make me a little bit nervous, but obviously I expected it.
“I was completely terrified about it, but obviously there was a part of me that was nervous in case the hate messages were really severe.
“But I have been so lucky with the public support. Obviously I know if you are searching for something you will find a hater, of course you will.
“But actually the public really got behind me and I’m just so, so grateful. I really feel like I’ve been hugely supportive.”
Jonny added: “So I feel incredibly lucky and incredibly blessed and incredibly relieved about that public support I’ve had.”
With his newfound popularity, Jonny now plans to raise awareness of his condition alongside growing his company Achiever Tutoring.
He explained: “I really want to work closer with charities which, you know, are advocates for facial differences.”
Changing Faces – a charity that advocates for individuals with visible to the face and body – have been in Jonny’s DMs.
He said: “I haven’t quite been able to get through them all. But yeah, obviously Changing Faces is a massive one.
“I would love to get involved with them as well. And there’s a lot of smaller charities as well who’ve been in touch who I really look forward to working with
The Apprentice biggest moments
THE Apprentice has been a fan favourite ever since it burst onto the box in 2005.
Here we take a look at five of the biggest moments over the years on the hit BBC One show.
Tim Campbell – Former London Underground transport manager Tim Campbell won the first series of the reality show in 2005. He is now one of Lord Sugar’s aides on the show.
Amy Anzel – Season 16’s fired candidate Amy Anzel was BANNED from the final celebration show, after a tit-for-tat exchange over Lord Sugar’s mocking tweets.
Michelle Dewberry – Telecoms consultant Michelle Dewberry won the second series of the show in 2006. However, after winning a six-figure job with Lord Sugar she lasted just four months before she sensationally quit.
Selena Waterman-Smith – We’re used to tensions running high in the boardroom, but in 2015 a disagreement between two candidates spilled over – for the first time – into a physical bust-up. Events manager Selina Waterman-Smith was given a verbal warning by show bosses for her role in an off-camera scrap with Charleine Wain.
4 weeks agoLatest NewsComments Off on The scary truth about sepsis – which kills more people than breast, bowel and lung cancer – and the ‘silent’ symptoms
WHEN Loose Women star Andrea McLean announced last month she’d been hospitalised with sepsis, she became one of 245,000 cases in the UK every year.
The 55-year-old joined fellow celebrities including Lily Allen, Carol Vorderman and Amy Dowden who have also had the blood poisoning condition which kills more than 48,000 people annually in Britain.
Loose Women star Andrea McLean was rushed to hospital with sepsis in February 2025Rex
“My blood pressure was so low I couldn’t stand, and I was in a lot of pain,” she said.
“To be honest, I was barely aware of what was happening, other than trying to be helpful.
“I can’t remember much about A&E other than it was thorough.
“I had severe pneumonia, acute kidney injury and sepsis.
“Things happened quickly; drips, super-strong antibiotics via IV and orally, and I was transferred to the emergency assessment ward.”
While Andrea was in hospital for two days and two nights battling the potentially deadly condition, Dr Ron Daniels, founder and CEO of the UK Sepsis Trust, says she’s fortunate to be alive.
“Sepsis is a life-threatening condition arising when the body’s response to infection causes organ damage,” he says.
“It can lead to multi organ failure and death and for the majority of people, it develops anywhere between 24 and 72 hours.
“While 48,000 people die from it every single year, not enough is known about it.
“For context, about 34,000 people die of stroke every year – so it kills more people than stroke, and about 200,000 people get heart attacks annually, so it’s more common as a reason for admission to hospital than heart attacks.”
While symptoms include slurred speech, breathlessness, a temperature, and shivering, sepsis also kills more people annually in the UK than breast, bowel and lung cancer combined, yet around a quarter of deaths are preventable with early diagnosis and treatment like Andrea received.
Last month, she said she’d been left with long-term issues.
“It’s now February, and I’m still not well enough to handle normal stuff like getting up and rushing out the door to do the jobs I’d been booked to do, because every part of that process would end with me falling down, or at the very least sitting on a tube station floor feeling very unwell and embarrassed at the stares,” she said.
“I’m still having ‘funny turns’ while out for a walk, or attempting the mildest of exercise. It means I haven’t really started 2025 yet.”
Dr Ron says the after effects from sepsis can last months or even years, with sufferers – like Andrea – unable to resume the lives and jobs they had before being diagnosed.
“People that survive sepsis often have life-changing effects,” he says.
“Physically people can feel debilitated for a while and cognitively there can be brain fog but also post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) – which can be brought on by the trauma of facing mortality.
“But we also know sepsis causes the death of neurons in the brain which could account for the psychological issues too.”
If something doesn’t feel right, call 111, or make an appointment to see your GP and just ask, ‘Could it be sepsis?’ Your life or the life of your loved one could depend on it
Dr Helen Wall
The condition costs the NHS between £1.5 and £2billion a year – one per cent of its entire budget.
But it also costs the UK economy around £11billion a year and it’s the leading cause of maternal death in the UK.
GP Dr Helen Wall says more needs to be done to educate people on the signs of the condition.
“Sepsis starts with an infection – bacterial, viral, or fungal – anywhere in the body,” she says.
“Common infection sites and infection examples include pneumonia, urinary tract infections, kidney infections, appendicitis, peritonitis, and skin and soft tissue wounds.
“All of these infections are very common and don’t cause sepsis in everyone, but in sepsis, the immune system overreacts damaging blood vessels and making them leaky.
“The resultant bleeding and poor blood flow reduces blood pressure and the amount of oxygen getting to vital organs like the kidneys and brain.”
While the condition can affect anyone, Dr Ron says those at either end of the age spectrum can be most at risk.
And when it comes to someone you love, trust your gut instinct.
“Anyone can get sepsis at any time, but at particular risk are those at the extremes of age – like older adults and very young children,” he says.
“You can’t vaccinate against every cause of sepsis, because it can be caused by any bug, but we do know it affects the whole of the animal kingdom from mammals to molluscs.
“People often don’t know when to get medical help for themselves or their loved ones, but my advice would be to trust your instincts.
“You’ve seen your loved ones with an infection before. If something doesn’t feel right, particularly if they get worse rather than better, call 111, or make an appointment to see your GP and just ask, ‘Could it be sepsis?’
“Your life or the life of your loved one could depend on it.”
Sepsis - the worrying statistics
There are at least 245,000 sepsis cases in the UK annually, with around 48,000 deaths (that’s five every hour)
There are almost 50million cases of sepsis globally every year, resulting in 11million deaths
As many as 40 per cent of cases are in children under the age of five
One in five deaths globally is associated with sepsis
Sepsis is the number one cause of death in hospitals
It is also the most common reason for hospital admission
Around 40 per cent of survivors have one or more cognitive, psychological or physical after effect
Sepsis kills more people than breast (11,400), bowel (16,300) and prostate cancer (11,700) combined (39,400) in the UK
Dr Helen adds: “Early recognition and management is key to survival.
“Symptoms can worsen rapidly, so seek urgent medical help if you notice the following:
A rash that doesn’t fade when pressed ,which is a sign of meningococcal sepsis
Babies not feeding or vomiting

John Roberts, from Taunton, Somerset, was 85 when he died in June 2018 from sepsis.
His daughter Gayle, 55, from Plymouth, says: “Dad had leukaemia but was being successfully treated for it.
“He was very fit and active – he walked loads and did lots of gardening too.
“One morning on a Sunday in April 2018 though, he woke up really poorly – almost comatose.
“We called an ambulance and he was admitted to hospital.
“After a few tests, they told us that he had sepsis. I didn’t even know what sepsis was at that point. I’d never even heard of it.”
He was successfully treated with antibiotics and sent home, but over the next eight weeks he was admitted back into hospital three times with sepsis again.
“His final admission was in June and after a couple of days, the consultants told us there was nothing else they could do for him and he had around 24 hours left to live,” Gayle says.
It’s always better to be safe than sorry so if you’re unwell or wake up really poorly, please seek help
Gayle
“I was utterly devastated and in complete shock.
“I stayed with him while they withdrew all his treatment and he passed away peacefully the next day at lunchtime.
“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t miss him and think about him.
“He was so fit and well and healthy and he was doing so well with his leukaemia treatment.
“I learned everything I could about sepsis after I lost him.
“I give money every month to the Sepsis Trust and I speak about it as often as I can.
“Dad hadn’t been unwell before we called him an ambulance but I’d advise people not to be fobbed off by medical professionals or think they’ll get better with a couple of paracetamol.

“I managed to leave hospital Thursday only to be readmitted Friday.
“After a day of treating sepsis, a kidney infection and a fever, I’m slowly on the mend. Long way to go but I’m in the right place.
“I can’t thank the hospitals and the staff enough, been so supportive.

SKY SPORTS were forced to apologise after Rory McIlroy’s x-rated outburst live on TV.
McIlroy, 35, was left frustrated after bogeying the 18th during his second round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
APRory McIlroy was left fuming after a bogey on 18th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational[/caption]
The Northern Irishman had gone into the second round just two shots off the lead, having shot two-under par during his first round at Bay Hill.
And the four-time major champion looked set to improve on that in his second round as he headed into the final hole, three shots under par for the day at T-2.
But a botched tee shot saw the wind grab hold of his ball and push it into the rough on the par-four 18th.
Unable to hide his annoyance at the mishit, he immediately shouted “F*** off!” in response.
Sky Sports were forced to apologise after the on-course microphones picked up McIlroy’s outburst and broadcast live across the UK.
The Ryder Cup hero was forced to layup due to the initial tee shot, meaning he was lining up for a par putt by the time he landed on the green.
Unfortunately McIlroy was still some 20ft from the pin when lining up for that par putt, sending it five foot past the hole and sinking his fifth shot for a bogey.
That miss meant McIlroy dropped down to T-5 in the standings and now sits four shots off leader and mate Shane Lowry.

THIS nepo-brother of a A-list actor gave fans a thrill when he stripped down to just a speedo.
The up-and-coming reality star showed off his rippling muscles as he took an outdoor shower – but can you guess who his famous sibling is.

Instagram / @dylanefronThis hunk in trunks is making a name for himself in reality TV[/caption]
instagramDid you guess it was Dylan Efron, Zac’s brother?[/caption]
The hunk in trunks is none other than Dylan Efron, brother of High School Musical alum Zac Efron, 37.
Dylan, who is the young sibling of the two at 33-years-old, showed off his impressive physique in the teeny tiny swimwear.
The actor’s brother could be seen rinsing off in an outdoor shower, before shaking off the water, and strutting towards a swimming pool.
Fans went wild for the video, with one writing: “Now that’s what I call taking a shower!”
While another added: “Damn I’m old enough to be his mum!”
This cheeky fan said: “Zac who??!”
BECOMING A REALITY TV STAR
Recently Dylan has become a hit on reality TV.
He was a huge fan favourite when he appeared on The Traitors US earlier this year, and quickly became the season’s heartthrob.
While the show is famed for its backstabbing, treachery and lies, Dylan was just happy to be himself and go along for the ride.
The outdoorsy star has been a lifelong fan of survivalist Bear and his A-list sibling Zac even filmed with him for a 2014 episode of Running Wild
Celebrity Bear Hunt launched on Netflix earlier this year and immediately became the number one most viewed show on the platform.
A second series seems inevitable, and Dylan said he would take on any challenge Bear sent his way.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun at F1 75 Live, he said: “Anything with Bear Grylls, sign me up. I’ve been watching him since I was a kid. I would do anything out there.”
GettyDylan made his reality TV debut in The Traitors US[/caption]
When it was put to him he might have to do some pretty stomach-churning things such as drinking his own urine, Dylan remained undeterred.
“Look, I’ll do it,” he smiled. “I’ve done a lot worse off camera.”
It’s not the only reality adventure show he’d be keen to test himself on.
Survivor and Celebrity SAS are another two programmes he believes he’d be well suited to tackling.
GettyDylan was the heartthrob of The Traitors US[/caption]
He said: “As a kid I always wanted to do Survivor just because I watched it growing up. But look, there’s so many new shows, like Special Forces. Any of those where I’m going to go and have fun and challenge myself, I’d consider.”
POSSIBLE MOVE INTO ACTING
A move into acting could also be on the cards, though he doesn’t expect to be rivalling brother Zac anytime soon.
Launching his career with the hugely popular High School Musical franchise, Zac has gone on to star in the likes of The Greatest Showman, The Iron Claw, A Family Affair.
He also controversially portrayed and received acclaim for playing serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
Instagram/dylanefronDylan and Zac are extremly close and often hang out together[/caption]
Dylan said: “No, if anything, I have a huge respect for actors, like my brother. Because I know it’s a skill set. I know I’m not going to play Ted Bundy in my first role.
“I can play a role that’s similar to me. Like, Into the Wild, give me that role, I can crush that. Luckily, there are a lot of roles that are like me.
“I’ve changed my jobs a thousand times. I’ve been a writer, a stunt guy, a producer. I like to see what’s next. I could see a little acting; my bread and butter is adventure shows. I love travelling and I love learning new things.”
Dylan’s certainly has had a varied career so far in his life.
He’s worked on the set of films such as Steven Spielberg’s futuristic Ready Player One, The Accountant, Live by Night and war biopic American Sniper.
And he was a producer and starred in his brother Zac’s travel series Down to Earth with wellness advocate Darin Olien.

DRIVING along happily through the idyllic Oxfordshire countryside in their 4×4 Geri Horner turns to hubby Christian and says: “You never know what life’s going to bring.”

NETFLIXThe couple are pictured before the bombshell news on Drive to Survive[/caption]
NETFLIXChristian is captured the moment a slew of alleged private texts messages is anonymously leaked[/caption]
The ironic moment – caught on camera for Netflix’s Drive to Survive show last year – reveals how the couple were blissfully unaware that the coming Formula 1 season would threaten to turn their whole lives upside down.
Soon after the clip was filmed, Horner, 51, was accused of alleged “coercive behaviour” towards an anonymous employee, sparking two independent investigations over the following year, which ultimately cleared him.
But just a day after the allegations were first chucked out, a tranche of text messages and photographs were sent from an anonymous email to dozens of journalists and key F1 figures.
Some of the messages were allegedly of a sexual nature – including requests for selfies – and the bombshell leak, which had been timed to coincide with the first race of the season last March, soon became the talk of the circuit.
“It was a shock to both of them when the allegations blew up – they never saw it coming,” one friend told The Sun.
Red Bull star driver Max Verstappen’s dad Jos called for Horner’s head saying the team would “explode” if he stayed on as the allegations threatened to derail both his job and his marriage.
“There is tension here while he remains in position, Verstappen Snr said back in March
“The team is in danger of being torn apart. It can’t go on the way it is. It will explode.”
The 51-year-old known as “Jos the Boss” during his racing days was even forced to deny being the source of the leak after he and Christian reportedly had a blazing row in Horner’s paddock office.
Meanwhile there were reports Geri was distraught and in “floods of tears” after reading the messages and that the fairytale couple were heading for divorce.
But despite the furore, loyal Geri flew to Bahrain to be at her husband’s side and was pictured hand in hand with him at the paddock.
Dressed in her signature all-white outfit, she posed at the podium ceremony, all smiles as they celebrated a 1-2 victory for Verstappen and fellow Red Bell driver Sergio Perez.
The couple even shared a kiss in full view of the cameras just before lights out at the track.
It was a show of unity and defiance by the pair – although some criticised Horner for parading Geri around the paddock so shortly after the news broke.

GettyMax Verstappen’s dad Jos hit out at Horner after the texts were leaked[/caption]
One outspoken F1 pundit, former driver Christijan Albers, called the move “a farce and an absolute nonsense”.
A body language expert told The Sun at the time Geri appeared “awkward” and as if she was on a “denial mission” as she posed for cameras alongside her hubby.
Others wondered how she could back her man so soon after that shock leak.
But while some might have thought Geri was burying her head in the sand and standing by her man friends say she is absolutely no pushover and had lots of questions for Christian, who was cleared once again of wrongdoing in August after an appeal to the original findings was dismissed.
‘Secret to their marriage’
“People think Geri was just blindly standing by her man through the whole thing but it’s not like that at all,” a friend said.
“She’s been in the spotlight for the majority of her life, so she knows what it’s like to be at the top of your game and the pressures that brings, and it takes a lot to faze her. She is a strong and intelligent woman.
“When the allegations first came out, she of course had questions.
“They talked through it and since then he has been cleared twice following two independent investigations by two separate KCs (King’s Counsels).
“Good communication is one of the secrets to their marriage.
“It was a shock to both of them when the allegations blew up – they never saw it coming and a lot of people were spreading hurtful rumours, but it was all untrue, they are in a really good place right now.”
When Horner was cleared of wrongdoing back in August, he said he was “relieved” to put the whole saga behind him.
Behind the scenes
But the new Netflix show captures some of his candid behind-the-scenes reaction to his the texting allegations.
The excruciating moment he first faces the world’s media and other team bosses after the texts had been leaked is caught on camera on the new show.
McLaren boss Zak Brown addresses a press conference with the cutting remark: “These are not the type of headlines Formula 1 wants or needs.”
Cameras cut to defiant Christian walking through the corridors saying “You find out who your friends are” before quipping: “Zak is a p***k.”

Later, after the second practice session at Bahrain, cameras catch the exact moment the text bombshell drops – with phone alerts pinging and Horner holding his head in his hands in disbelief.
However, despite the controversy off the track, Horner has the last laugh as Red Bull wins the Bahrain Grand Prix in dramatic scenes.
“That’s the best way to f*** all of them. Shut the f*** up,” he’s filmed saying to another Red Bull Racing team member.
As Red Bull continues to dominate the season Horner says: “In Formula 1 there’s winners and w*****s and you don’t want to be in the “w****r category”.
Rivals plot
In other parts of the show, he says that the motive behind the leaks was obvious – his rivals wanted him ousted.
“The higher you rise, the sharper the knives,” he says.
“I’ve reached the top of my game and I never thought in a million years I’d have a challenge like this in my career.
“It was obvious that the end goal was for me to leave Red Bull.
“It’s a crucial time of year, in a job that I do, you’re the front face of the organisation.
“You can either hide away or you can get out there and face it.”
It was a dramatic year from hell for the couple – although it ended on a high with Horner picking up a CBE from Prince Charles for his services to motor sports.
Horner also reportedly built bridges with Verstoppen’s dad.
Happy families
And the couple put on a loved up display at the 2024 FIA awards in December in Kigali, Rwanda.
And while the new season of Drive to Survive might contain some uncomfortable memories for the pair, the insider said they are not interested in reliving the past at all and are focused firmly on the future and their blended family which includes Bluebell, 18, Olivia, 11 and Monty, eight.

Their marriage has weathered the storm – and they and the F1 team are “stronger than ever”.
“Geri and Christian just want to put this whole episode behind them,” the pal said.
“Their marriage is stronger than ever, they just got back from a trip to the States together and had a great time.
“Their priority is their family and they are fiercely protective over their kids and the time that they have to be a family despite their busy schedules.
“The [Red Bull] team are stronger than ever too – everything is good.
“They are not fazed at all about the new Netflix show and are just focused on the future.
“Yes it was a difficult time for them but they are both very resilient.”

ANNA Kendrick has fueled rumours of a rift with her Another Simple Favor co-star Blake Lively.
The Hollywood actress, 39, appeared to take aim at Blake, 37, at the film‘s premiere at SXSW yesterday.
AFPAnna Kendrick was less than enthusiastic when asked about working with Blake Lively again[/caption]
APMeanwhile Blake called it ‘the best’[/caption]
When she was asked what it was like to team up with Blake again seven years after the release of A Simple Favor, Anna said, “Oh, you know…” and walked away.
It was in stark contrast to Blake’s answer to the same question, when she said: “Oh it’s the best, I’m so happy.”
Fans picked up on it immediately, with one writing on X, “I’m having so much uncomfortableness.”
Another said, “Haha, sounds like there’s some funny behind-the-scenes moments.”
A third posted, “Lmfao it must be killing her to fake it and be on her best behavior.”
The pair’s ‘secret feud’ was first reported last month when it was claimed Anna was less than happy about the film being tainted by the ongoing legal drama between Blake and her It Ends With Us director, Justin Baldoni, 41.
The case was sparked following abitter feudon-set, with her accusing him of sexual harassment.
Justin has since filed a $400million countersuit, which accused Blake, 37, and her husband,Ryan Reynolds, 48, of attempting to “destroy” his career and reputation.
Sources claim the legal battle could drag on “for years” – and now it appears the debacle is causing drama on Blake’s latest flick.
A source told MailOnline: “There is a gigantic pink elephant in the room that no one is acknowledging.
“The backlash to initial promo has been brutal. There are people protesting and refusing to see it.
“‘Blake has not addressed this. She has not called the cast to apologise.
“She has not done anything like that. She has stayed quiet and hidden away.
“She owes Anna an apology. She owes them all an apology.”
The source added: “Anna is just over all of it.
“If Anna was in this position, she would not be letting the film take the fall for her own personal issues.”
ReutersThe pair have filmed a prequel to A Simple Favor[/caption]
SplashAnna is reportedly unhappy with how Blake’s legal case against Justin Baldoni is affecting fan reaction to Another Simple Favor[/caption]
The US Sun has gone to Anna’s reps for comment.
Maine-born Anna plays mommy vlogger Stephanie Smothers in the initial movie.
The promo for the spin off – which hits screens in March – has also allegedly sparked controversy due to the position of her and Blake’s names on the poster.
Another source added: “In the original film Anna got top billing over Blake.
“She thought it was a no-brainer that the same would happen this time around. But Blake didn’t see it that way.
“She fought, through her reps to get top billing over Anna, who refused to bow to Blake’s demands.”
MailOnline also reports how the warring Hollywood beauties have agreed on a staggered billing, which sees Blake’s name on top but in smaller font on the right hand side.
LEGAL WOE
Blake, who plays Emily Nelson in Another Simple Favor, is tackling her new project against her tough legal backdrop.
In her lawsuit last year, she accused Justin of fat-shaming her, showing her nude videos and pictures, and claimed he and his team orchestrated a smear campaign to ruin her reputation.
In response, the director, 40, has come out guns blazing with a federal suit against Blake, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and two publicists.
Documents seen by The U.S. Sun claim Lively set out to make Baldoni the “real-life villain in her story,” and schemed against him to deflect from the actress being seen as “tone-deaf” during the press tour.
He is asking for $400 million in damages after being dropped by his agency, WME, which also reps the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging alum and her husband.
Justin, who denies the claims, had an award for “advocating on behalf of women and girls” taken away after Lively filed her complaint.
Justin claimed Blake organized a “takeover strategy” so she could have the final word in the movie, which is based on the book byColleen Hoover.
He also claimed Blake forced the director and his family to miss the film’s premiere in August when she demanded he didn’t attend.
He said security at the premiere escorted his group to the theater’s basement.
He also claimed Blake didn’t read Hoover’s book when they were working on the script together.

A MAN obssessed with child murders and “inspired” by the Southport attacks stabbed a nine-year-old girl as she played outside his home.
Jordan Wilkes, 29, had had searched numerous YouTube videos and podcasts on such atrocities leading up to the attack in Bournemouth.

These included the killing of the three girls at a dance class in Southport last year, the murder of James Bulger and several American high school massacres.
Hours before the attack he watched a video on Aiden Fucci who murdered a 13-year-old American schoolgirl by stabbing her 114 times, Bournemouth Crown Court heard.
Just three weeks after the Southport killings, Wilkes’ victim had been playing with a friend on the stairwell outside his flat in Christchurch, Dorset.
Fuelled by thoughts of “fulfilling a sick fantasy” he opened his door and stabbed the girl three times in the neck, shoulder and knee with a pen knife without saying a word.
Luckily, she and her friend managed to flee to the safety of another flat.
The horrific wounds to the girl’s shoulder and knee were so deep the bone could be seen – but she was thankfully able to make a full recovery.
Wilkes was arrested by armed police who raided his flat a short time after the attack.
He denied a charge of attempting to murder the girl, who can’t be named for legal reasons, but was found guilty yesterday following a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Sentencing was adjourned for reports but Wilkes is facing a lengthy prison term.
Berenice Mulvanny, prosecuting, said Wilkes had an “unhealthy fascination with the murder of children and saw his opportunity to fulfil some sort of sick fantasy”.
His mobile phone was recovered which revealed a “particularly concerning” search history.
The data downloaded from his Motorola mobile phone showed 69 “files of interest” related to violence, knives and child killings in the three months before the attack.
The news articles, YouTube videos, documentaries and podcasts had content relating to the Valentine’s School Massacre, America’s deadliest mass shooting with 17 killed at Parkland High School in Florida in 2018.
Ms Mulvanny said: “What was found on that phone show an unhealthy interest in violence, in knives, but in particular the murder of children.
“There were searches and videos watched regarding the Valentine School Massacres in America, child serial killers, abuse of children, the murder of James Bulger and the riots that resulted in Southport after the murder of three girls.
“The Southport murders taking place in July, the attack on [the nine year-old] weeks later.”
Giving evidence, the girl said of the attack: “I saw him reach into his pocket, I didn’t know that it was a knife, he hid it with his arm behind him then he came at us.
“He came running at me with a straight face. He grabbed hold of my arm, really tight, so I couldn’t escape and he was aiming for this area [pointing to her neck].”
Her friend described Wilkes as “mad-looking”.
The woman in the flat the two girls ran to said she heard screaming and banging on the door but once inside both girls were “alarmingly composed”, as if in a state of shock.
While treating the girl’s neck injury, the woman became aware of blood dripping on the floor and then saw a large wound to the chest.
She said: “As I moved her top I saw a huge gash to her shoulder, I could see down to the bone. It was long and wide like it had been pulled open or ripped.”
Forensic pathologist Dr Richard Shepherd told the court the girl had a 2cm long neck wound and an 8cm gash above her collarbone.
He said the chest wound was deep and would have likely resulted in serious injury or death if it had damaged any of the underlying area.
He also added that he had seen many deaths in his career from a single stab wound and the outcome is dependent on chance, not the control of the assailant.
Wilkes will be sentenced in April.

EDDIE HEARN is teeing up Wembley Stadium for a rematch between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn – in a bid to fit all the fans in.
And Hearn said: “I think he was probably more angry than he made out, to be honest with you. I think there’s a lot said, it’s a very personal fight.
“It’s gonna be interesting to see how it plays out as it draws closer, as the build up continues and looking forward to seeing them finally get in the ring.”
Hearn admits he was not a fan of Eubank’s viral stunt – despite 130,000 fans joining a virtual queue for tickets just days later.
He said: “I suppose it’s just the new generation of things that go viral and things that make people tune in.
“I’m not a fan of it, to be honest with you. But, it’s the world we live in. We’ve just got to be careful.
“If we’re doing so much work in the community, we’re trying to tell kids what’s right and wrong and how to behave and then you’ve got people slapping people at press conferences.
“For me, it’s not the one.”
