Even by the standards of a normal quiet January, this month, so far, has been about the things that haven’t happened.

Marcus Rashford has still not left Manchester United. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah remain at Anfield. Arsenal appear to be mulling the striker signing Emirates fans have demanded for two years.

Indeed, more than a fortnight after the window opened, Prem clubs had signed paid money for just six players between them, with Aston Villa’s £19m recruitment of Dortmund’s Donyell Malen representing nearly a third of the total £68m outlay.

Of course, Manchester City could change everything if the proposed triple swoop for Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov and Palmeiras teenager Vitor Reis materialises.

But City, from a position of relative strength and able to get a few wrong, are an exception.

And while there have been some stunning deals in the winter window – imagine Liverpool without Virgil van Dijk over the past seven years – there are far more misses and maybes than hits.

Over the last five January windows, Prem sides have splashed out £785m.

There have been around 126 major signings. And of them, arguably only 26, just one in five, can be described as unqualified successes.

Indeed, one of the biggest successes of this season was also one of the most obvious January failures.

Chris Wood’s annus mirabilis has seen the Kiwi score 13 in 21 Prem appearances for Forest.

Yet had you asked the Newcastle fans who watched Wood arrive as a £25m part of the first Saudi-backed recruitment drive in 2022 and subsequently score just four in 35 Prem games, they would have happily driven him to Nottingham themselves.

The ones that have been good deals do stand out from the pack.

Bruno Fernandes is now captain of Manchester United, scoring another beauty in the FA Cup win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Luis Diaz is a key part of Liverpool’s attacking armoury, alongside Cody Gakpo.

Dejan Kulusevski has been one of the few bright sparks in a bleak mid-winter at Spurs.

Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes and Dan Burn are major reasons in Newcastle’s astonishing recent run, while Wolves’ Mateus Cunha has no end of suitors.

But for every Morgan Rogers and Martin Odegaard, there are four or five flops, men who came and went like footprints on a tidal beach.

Who, aside from real club nerds, can remember Gedson Fernandes, Morgan Sansom or Valentino Lazaro? Who wants to recall Marcel Sabitzer or Arnaut Danjuma?

In the PSR  era, when the numbers have to add up, taking a gamble and getting it wrong is a mistake clubs cannot afford to make.

And if only one in five January deals are likely to pay off, perhaps that’s why clubs do not want to be burned.

Now Jamie, who is appearing in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing live tour, has opened up about EastEnders success – and why Corrie will be back on top soon.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, he said: “I feel like with the soaps, they all have peaks and troughs. 

“They all have moments of up, moments of down. You’re going to get that with longevity. But that’s one thing that they have is longevity.

“How long has Corrie been on? 62 years I think. 

“It’s an amazing show. It’s an institution. And I feel like to be a part of that institution – and obviously EastEnders joined a lot later and what we’ve achieved in our 40 years.

“And they’re amazing shows and they’re in the fabric of the country.”

He added: “I feel like they always will have a place there.

“But as I say, peaks and troughs. We’re on a good run and have been for a while. I’m sure we’ll go back round the other way and that’s just how it goes with longevity. 

“It’s one thing that they have over many other genres that have been going forever.

“Listen, Corrie’s an amazing show, it’s brilliant and the people on it are great.”

The kind comments will no doubt come as a relief to Corrie bosses as they cope with the on-going crisis.

This comes after Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley on the ITV soap Coronation Street, said that ITV is struggling financially.

Amid this, some soap fans reckon that if it comes down to it, ITV would axe Emmerdale in a bid to save the Manchester-based soap opera.

“If it came down to it, ITV would sacrifice Emmerdale to save Corrie,” one fan penned in a soap forum.

“Emmerdale would go first as the sacrificial lamb,” said another.

ROB CROSS has been beaten by world No225 Paolo Nebrida in the first round of the Bahrain Darts Masters.

The former world champion lost 6-3 as his opponent became the first ever Filipino to win on the World Series.

Cross, 34, landed hit two more 180s and average higher than Nebrida but struggled on the doubles, missing the chance to wrap up a leg 16 times.

Nebrida, 30, sealed the win in spectacular fashion by hitting the double top.

He coolly lifted his arm in celebration and embraced Cross as the two exchanged friendly words at the oche.

The defeat is the latest low point for Cross, who is on a four-match losing run.

He was knocked out the World Championship by Scott Williams in his first match at Alexandra Palace.

The world No4 had previously suffered a 6-0 hammering to Luke Littler at the Players Championship Finals and a 16-11 defeat to Martin Lukeman at the Grand Slam.

BRAND new drone technology will replace first responders in the rush to get to emergency scenes at a moment’s notice.

Hempstead Police Department, an hour’s drive from New York City on Long Island, is implementing automatic drones, which boast an average response time of just 85 seconds.

Flock Safety, a tech company focused on public safety, is providing the department’s new drone-as-first responder system, which will be the company’s first program in New York.

The drones will be stationed at docks across the city, where they’ll be prepared to deploy anywhere within a four-mile radius in under two minutes.

The drones can immediately get eyes on emergencies and service calls, which creates safer and more efficient cases for responding officers.

“Drone-as-first-responder programs will play a central role in the future of public safety, speeding emergency response, de-escalating dangerous situations, and getting to closed cases faster,” Flock Safety CEO Garrett Langley said in a press release.

“No other technology helps law enforcement officers get eyes on the scene faster than a drone.”

The new system will work alongside HPD’s existing license plate reader and video cameras, also installed by Flock.

The LPR cameras can help locate stolen vehicles, known wanted offenders, and missing people.

The cameras will speed response times by reporting the recorded information to drone dispatch.

All of the systems are streamlined through the city’s real-time information center.

“Hempstead PD has long been at the forefront of high-tech policing,” Police Chief Richard Holland said.

“We’re excited to see the public safety benefits this game-changing DFR system will bring to our village.”

Flock Safety’s tech is used in over 5,000 communities across the country, the company says on its website.

The intelligent platform can be used by cities, businesses, schools, and police to stop crime.

Austin, Texas, installed 40 of Flock’s license plate reader cameras across their city last year.

The Austin Police Department said the tech helped them catch multiple criminals at a meeting in October – but the cameras still caused a stir among residents.

Drivers raised questions about privacy, data retention, and discrimination caused by the technology.

Residents also showed concern about the number of “false positive stops.”

False positive stops would include cops pulling over people because the tech misread a license plate.

In September of last year, the Texas Department of Public Safety also ordered Flock Safety to stop operating in private homes and businesses when the company failed to obtain a private investigator’s license.

Flock Safety hasn’t returned The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.

It’s clear he’s spent years gaslighting, manipulating, and deceiving you, and it’s understandable that this is hard to process. 

However, you mustn’t blame yourself. This clearly has nothing to do with you and everything to do with him.

As hard as it will be initially, you need to focus on yourself and adjust to your new reality. 

It will take time, but you will start to heal and eventually see that this may be a blessing in disguise.
