3 weeks agoLatest NewsComments Off on Transfer recommendations for Gameweek 20: Morgan Rogers & Phil Foden among smart options
THE return of the Champions League and Europa League means six clubs are set to pull double duty in Gameweek 20.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester United will also play twice in Gameweek 21 so Dream Team managers would be wise to focus on this sextet for the remainder of January.
You don’t need us to tell you that the likes of Mohamed Salah (£8.1m), Erling Haaland (£8m) and Bruno Fernandes (£6.2m) are well placed to provide points but allows us to present some transfer recommendations that aren’t quite as obvious.
Back among the goals[/caption]
Phil Foden (£6.2m)
Manchester City’s No47 might be the biggest name who currently features in fewer than 10% of teams.
Pep Guardiola’s side still have problems in defence but their attack once again looks difficult to resist.
Foden has banked 60 points in his last six games via four goals and two assists; he’s not shy of a bonus point either.
City are due to face Ipswich and PSG this coming Gameweek and they can’t afford to ease up in the Champions League with their spot in the knockout stage at serious risk.
The England international is very expensive and so some Dream Team bosses might consider Savinho (£4.3m) a more realistic avenue into City’s midfield.
Spurs Stars
Look at their points, not the league table[/caption]
It might sound counterproductive to heavily rely on a team currently 13th in the table, fresh off an unconvincing FA win over non-league Tamworth and defeat in the North London derby, but hear us out.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are far from the complete package but several players have made waves in Dream Team this season.
Pedro Porro (£4.2m) and Dominic Solanke (£4.6m) rank fourth in their respective positions while Brennan Johnson (£3.7m), James Maddison (£4.1m) and Dejan Kulusevski (£4.3m) are all among the top seven midfielders.
Antonin Kinsky (£2.8m) made fans sweat on a few occasions at the Emirates but the fact is the Czech goalkeeper has been a Dream Team asset for two Gameweeks and racked up 25 points.
Spurs are due to play Everton, Hoffenheim (16th in the Bundesliga), Leicester and Elfsborg before the end of the month.
Morgan Rogers (£3.5m)
The Aston Villa midfielder is a class act who has offered excellent value for money since August.
Rogers was the most transferred-out player prior to Gameweek 18 because of a suspension but now that he’s back to playing almost every minute that matters for the Villains, gaffers who ditched him should consider bringing him back into mix.
Managers who wisely recruited the silky 22-year-old prior to Gameweek 19 were rewarded with a 17-point haul.
He scored the winner against West Ham in the cup and brilliantly assisted the game’s only goal at Everton on Wednesday night, finished off by Ollie Watkins (£5m).
Gameweek 20 isn’t all that favourable for Villa as it features away days to Arsenal and Monaco but the broader picture shows Rogers with four fixtures to fulfil at a time when most teams will play just twice – West Ham and Celtic are due in the midlands before the end of the month.
Chris Wood (£3.9m)
We always try to include leftfield option and who better than Nottingham Forest’s talismanic target man for Gameweek 20?
Granted, the New Zealander doesn’t have a midweek fixture but on current form he will back himself against lowly Southampton at the City Ground on Sunday.
Wood has arguably been the most clinical finisher in the Premier League this season with 13 goals from 37 shots.
For comparison, Cole Palmer (£6.1m) has scored 14 league goals from 74 shots.
Assuming high-flying Forest are able to engineer plenty of chances against relegation-bound Saints, Wood could easily overtake several Golden Boot rivals come full time.
Without additional fixtures the 33 year-old striker’s long-term viability is limited but he’s a tempting option for Gameweek 20.
Calling back to last Thursday’s transfer tips, our one-week punt suggestions, Eberechi Eze (£4.9m) and Daniel Munoz (£4.2m), combined for 38 points in Gameweek 19 – proof that there’s more than one way to play this game!

JIMMY Mizen had his whole life ahead of him when he entered a south London bakery in 2008.
But in a fit of rage that was robbed from him by Jake Fahri.
Jake Fahri, known as TEN, was given a life sentence in 2009[/caption]
Millwall fan Jimmy Mizen was attacked by Fahri at a bakery in Lee, South East London[/caption]
Robert Jenrick says Jimmy’s family deserve so much better[/caption]
I can’t even begin to imagine the pain and suffering his death caused.
The courage of his family to forgive Fahri despite everything is truly remarkable.
I don’t think I could have done so myself. Their positivity and dignity are a lesson to us all.
It makes Fahri’s subsequent behaviour all the more despicable.
I can think of few more sickening things than glorifying the death of an innocent young boy in songs to make money.
But what is more shocking is that our national broadcaster are promoting this music from a murderer.
Not only are they helping him make money from his despicable crime, they are glamourising violence to tens of thousands of impressionable young teenagers who listen.
We currently have a knife crime epidemic and they are helping to fuel it.
Just last week a 14 year-old boy was stabbed to death on bus in broad daylight in south east London.
There were 50,000 knife related offences last year and in the capital it’s completely out of control.
Yes, we need more robust enforcement, but we also need people in positions of responsibility to reject it entirely.
There should be a full investigation into such a poor editorial decision, but shamefully the BBC are in denial.
Jimmy’s poor family deserve a full apology from the BBC and a commitment that the Radio 1 extra will never play music glorifying such abhorrent violence again.
Spotify and YouTube should follow suit too. They should hang their heads in shame they too are monetising music lyrics that so brazenly celebrate murder.
And the probation service need to act fast. It makes a mockery of our justice system if murders can get away with this sick behaviour with impunity.
Jimmy’s family deserve so much better.
Robert Jenrick is the Shadow Secretary of State for Justice.
British public rallies behind Jimmy Mizen's family
THE British public rallied behind Jimmy Mizen’s family in the wake of the Sun’s story about his killer’s drill rap music being played on the BBC – by donating cash to the foundation set up in Jimmy’s name to promote “hope, not hate”.
The Mizen Foundation was founded in 2008 after 16-year-old Jimmy was murdered by Fahri as he queued in a bakery in south-east London.
Fahri was sentenced to life and served 15 years before being released from prison in June 2023 and embarking on music career as a balaclava-wearing rapper called TEN.
Some of his tracks have been played on the BBC’s 1XTRA station and also on its website, with DJ Theo Johnson promoting him as a “stand out” musician.
The Ministry of Justice is now investigating.
In response, well-wishers have rallied around the deeply religious Mizen family, who have spent the years since Jimmy’s murder campaigning for peace and trying to help young people.
On the Foundation’s website, one well wisher wrote: “I saw Margaret on television this morning and she was so moving and inspiring that I wanted to do something positive in response.
“Sending love and support to her, Barry and your family.”
Another added: “The way you have chosen to cherish Jimmy’s memory and celebrate his life is outstanding.
“Your message of forgiveness is a message for everyone today.”
Jimmy’s family created the charity to ensure that something positive came out of their loss.
Parents Margaret and Barry have dedicated their lives to celebrating Jimmy’s life, sharing their story of forgiveness, peace, and hope to effect change in our communities.
The charity aims to support young people across the UK by challenging them to be the change makers and peace makers in their local communities.

JANAINA Prazeres has been dubbed the ‘most beautiful woman in the world’, but has now opened up on the downsides of being so good looking.
Not only is making friends a challenge, but the 35-year-old also got candid on how her good looks limit her job opportunities too.
Janaina Prazeres has been dubbed the ‘world’s most beautiful woman’[/caption]
But she’s now set the record straight on the downsides of her attractive life[/caption]
She claimed that women are jealous of her, which makes it challenging to form friendships[/caption]
She also struggles to get work as a result of her good looks[/caption]
Janaina confessed that her stunning looks are not natural but “paid for.”
The influencer has spent over £760,000 on cosmetic procedures ranging from breast augmentations to butt fillers, Botox and buccal fat removal, and claimed that her beauty makes her feel “powerful.”
The content creator, who boasts 712,000 Instagram followers, has gone to extreme lengths to look beautiful, and has even had a controversial bee venom treatment for her skin.
She told NeedToKnow: “My appearance is the result of significant investment and planning.
“Beauty isn’t just genetics – it’s dedication and investing in yourself.
“I love feeling more beautiful and I always strive to keep my self-esteem high. That’s the secret to a better life.
“If I can invest in it, I won’t hold back, I believe there’s nothing wrong with paying for something that makes me feel powerful.”
The São Paulo native, previously voted the ‘Perfect Woman’ by Playboy due to her body’s proportions, admitted that her good looks often lead to objectification.
She said: “Being too beautiful sometimes makes people view me as an object or a trophy.”
Not only this, but she opened up on the challenges she faces when it comes to making friends and getting jobs, as she confessed: “It is also difficult to maintain female friendships, as I often sense a competitive and envious atmosphere.
“I have learned to stand up for myself and set boundaries so that people respect me beyond my physical appearance.
Being considered ‘perfect’ does not define who I truly am. There’s so much more to me than what people see
Janaina Prazeres
“Some work opportunities have even been limited because my beauty often overshadows my other qualities, which leads people to underestimate my professional skills.”
Janaína has splashed out on various surgeries to perfect her look, including three nose jobs, two nose reconstructions, four liposuctions with BBL, three boob jobs, a facelift and even claimed to have had a rib removed.
What are the risks of getting surgery abroad?
IT'S important to do your research if you're thinking about having cosmetic surgery abroad.
It can cost less than in the UK, but you need to weigh up potential savings against the potential risks.
Safety standards in different countries may not be as high.
No surgery is risk-free. Complications can happen after surgery in the UK or abroad.
If you have complications after an operation in the UK, the surgeon is responsible for providing follow-up treatment.
Overseas clinics may not provide follow-up treatment, or they may not provide it to the same standard as in the UK.
Also, they may not have a healthcare professional in the UK you can visit if you have any problems.

But that’s not all, as she revealed: “I am now getting $100,000 [£81,740] reconstruction surgery for my butt.”
The beauty also regularly invests in maintenance Botox and lip fillers every three months, along with anti-ageing drips.
She emphasised: “People criticise but being named the most perfect woman comes at a price, and I chose to pay it to achieve that standard.”
Despite this, she continued: “Being considered ‘perfect’ does not define who I truly am. There’s so much more to me than what people see.
“I hope that, in the future, women will be recognised not only for their beauty but also for their other qualities and merits.”

KATIE Price has hit out at this year’s Love Island All Stars cast and had some extra scathing words for one of the show’s most popular hunks.
The 46-year-old had her say on the show’s opening line-up in a brand new YouTube video filmed in bed with her sister, Sophie.
Katie Price slammed the All Stars cast in a new YouTube video[/caption]
Kate suggested Scott Thomas was too old and insisted she’d never heard of Kaz[/caption]
In the clip, the pair expressed their delight that the ITV2dating show would be making its return but Katie was soon left moaning as she appeared underwhelmed with the choice of Islanders who were being sent back into the villa in South Africa.
One of the cast who did not get the seal of approval from Katie was series two hunk, Scott Thomas.
Whilst she admitted she did “like” him, she swiped at him being too “old” for the programme.
Speaking to her sister, Katie said: “Scott’s doing it! Scott Thomas.”
Sophie could be heard muttering “why” under her breath as Katie pulled a mischievous look and softly said to the camera: “I thought he was too old to do it?”
However, she quickly clarified: “I like Scott, their nice.”
Sophie and Katie then began to reel off the other members of the cast as the mum-of-five’s sister insists she likes Marcel Somerville as he is “funny”.
As Sophie read aloud Nas Majeed‘s name, Katie’s eyes suggested she did not know who he was and she gave a similar reaction to Kaz Crossley too.
Katie said: “I don’t know who that is? Kaz? I don’t know…”
As the sisters continued to look at the screen and let out a few unimpressed groans, Katie then said: “But I’m still gonna watch it, I’ll still watch it.”
