Britain’s Got Talent in huge blunder as crowd fall silent – but did you spot it?

BRITAIN’S Got Talent fans have spotted a very awkward blunder during the auditions on Saturday night.

Comedy whizz kid Jacob Sayer had the BGT crowd in stitches — and even won over tough nut Simon Cowell.

The 15-year-old from St Helens brought the laughs to Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, cracking up judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and a sceptical Simon.

When asked if this was the biggest crowd he’d ever performed to, Jacob said: “I usually perform at my local theatre which is 700 seats but it is never sold out.”

He added: “The dream is to be up there with Lee Evans and all the big comedians.”

With a standing ovation under his belt, the schoolboy is now one step closer to bagging that £250k prize and a spot on the Royal Variety Performance.

Simon admitted: “You are stupid funny, which I like. You did really good and I think the audience liked you. I always listen to the audience so it is a yes.”

However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot an awkward moment… but did you notice it?

The episode’s editing made a glaring blunder when viewers could hear loud applause and cheering, yet the audience behind the judges remained completely still and silent.

Taking to social media, one viewer said: “The editing of BGT is so irritating. The constant crowd reactions cut and pasted all over the shop.

“You hear mad cheers but the crowd behind the judges are motionless #bgt #britainsgottalent”

Another added: “They keep adding the applause all the time but when u get the audience shot there just sitting there and not responding.”

Fans have also hit out at the show as a “fix” after Simon Cowell stopped a performance just seconds in.

Some ITV viewers have claimed the Louise Hall, from South Wales was a “set up”.

The teacher and full-time mum took to the stage with a rendition of Something Beautiful by Robbie Williams – but within seconds, Simon put his hand in the air and stopped the performance.

Britain’s Got Talent’s biggest ‘fix’ rows

Britain’s Got Talent has been plagued with ‘fix’ rows over the years. How many of these do you remember?

Jasmine Elcock – 2016: Teenage singer Jasmine Elcock stunned the nation with her version of Cher’s Believe. But it then transpired she had already performed professionally in London’s West End. Jasmine, 14, admitted: “I’ve performed in Annie in the West End at about the age of nine or 10, but I really get nervous.”

IrShad Shaikh – 2017: BGT fans were left questioning the rule book when IrShad Shaikh auditioned. He got four red buzzers from the judges, which would usually mean an instant dismissal. Yet in a strange turn of events, they let him continue with his act…and put him through to the next round.

Colin Thackery – 2019: Elderly war veteran Colin won BGT in 2019, but there was an outcry over the final. He warbled his place to win with a version of We’ll Meet Again but fans were furious that escapologist Jonathan Goodwin didn’t even rank in the top three. Viewers felt Jonathan – who almost suffocated while being buried alive in a gravel pit – should have won.

Axel Blake – 2022: Comedian Axel Blake was given a Golden Buzzer in 2022 after making the judges laugh. But fans were fuming when they discovered Axel already had a show on worldwide streaming platform Amazon Prime. Despite this, Axel still went on to win the series.

Loren Allred – 2022: The 2022 series of BGT was hit with another controversy when singer Loren Allred also received a Golden Buzzer. She performed Never Enough from the smash hit musical movie The Greatest Showman and got a standing ovation. It later transpired Loren was actually the original voice behind the track.

Taryn Charles – 2024: Singer Taryn Charles is one of this year’s hopefuls lucky enough to receive the Golden Buzzer. Bruno Tonilio put her straight through to the semi-finals following her performance of (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin, but it has now come to light that she is no stranger to TV. Viewers recognised Taryn from an episode of ITV1’s Starstruck, where she impersonated Whitney Houston for judges Olly Murs, Sheridan SmithAdam Lambert and Beverley Knight.

He then asked the singer if she had a second song choice.

Simon said: If you’re going to do this, then this obviously means a lot to you, then you’ve really got to stop overthinking this and just let go.

“That was kind of like a polite audition.”

She replied: “I will fight for this.”

Louise then belted out Jennifer Hudson‘s hit ballad And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going, which was met with cheers from the audience.

The judges were also equally chuffed with her second song choice.

But some fans were convinced it was a set-up.

One wrote: “These singing auditions on Britain’s Got Talent are so set up sometimes when Simon stops them mid song and ask them to sing something else and they sing again and they’re amazing.”

A second posted: “Ah this old chestnut.”

A third commented: “I couldn’t even hear her for the noisy audience, and it was a set up too, seen dozens like her before.”

Britain’s Got Talent is available to watch on ITV1 and ITVX.
