FANS of Jamie Laing were left wondering why one firm friend wasn’t there to congratulate him after he completed his Comic Relief Challenge on Friday.
The former Made in Chelsea star ran a gruelling 150 miles over five days to raise more than £2 million for the charity, breaking down in tears when he heard how much had been raised.

However, his reality show co-star and self confessed ‘best friend’, Spencer Matthews, was notably absent at the finish line.
The reality TV star was joined by his wife, Sophie Habboo, Oliver Proudlock, Traitors winner Leanne Quigle, and Radio 1 host Greg James, who joined him on the last leg in a wedding dress.
But Spencer, who last year completed 30 marathons in 30 days across the Jordanian desert, was nowhere to be seen and has failed to congratulate him publicly since.
The former reality TV stars have been best friends since joining E4’s hit Made in Chelsea show in the second series in 2011.
Since then the pair have partied and holidayed together, however a fall out over Jamie’s wedding to Sophie was publicy aired in 2023, with many left wondering if this is the root cause.
While Spencer had attended the pair’s June wedding in Spain, he wasn’t present at the legal ceremony in London two months prior and was seen on holiday in Portugal with his family instead.
When fans expressed their shock that he had chosen to go overseas instead he used his podcast with wife Vogue Williams to set the record striaght, admitting he was ‘p****d off’ by the snub.
He said: “I’m being hammered for “snubbing” my best friend’s wedding to go on holiday, and then posting about my holiday.”
“I’m not here to b***h about my best friends but there’s been some serious miscommunication from him.”
“I just want to set the record straight, more than anything. I’m not here to whinge. I was not invited to this part of Jamie’s wedding, and neither was Vogue.”
Prior to Jamie’s money-raising challenge, a source told the Mail last week: “Spencer has been a bit non-plussed about Jamie’s challenge which is very odd given they were so close.”
After admitting they were like brothers, the source went on to say: “He [Spencer] was master of ceremonies at the wedding and they were always there for one another.”
“It is the talk of their friendship group now that they seem to have fallen out. It’s very mysterious.”
“Jamie’s run is perhaps the biggest thing he will ever do in his life – surely he must be missing his friend. You now have to wonder what has happened to cause a change in their relationship.”
Many fans also questioned Spencer’s absence on Jamie’s Instagram, with one saying: “Why have we seen no supporting posts from Spencer? Have they fallen out?”
Another said: “I kept waiting to see Spencer running with him; wonder why he didn’t? I was hoping he would be there at the end too… @spencermatthews.”
Following his run Jamie thanked the ‘great friends’ who had supported him .
On the latest episode of his podcast, NewlyWeds, he aired a clip from his Comic Relief video diary in which he said: “Halfway through the day I got surprised by my great friend Ollie Proudlock.”
“Just not expecting at all it was one of those moments where I’m pretty good with surprises but he just came and surprised me and that just was more emotional than anything.”
After also thanking his wife and dad he said: “Running in with all those people seeing my family and my friends there it was just the greatest thing in the world.”
It’s not the first time the pair have publicly left fans shocked.
At the end of last year the duo announced they would be ending their joint podcast hosted on BBC Sounds since 2020.
Called ‘6 Degrees from Jamie and Spencer’ the Chelsea pals attempted to “track down a megastar in six calls or less” in each episode.
The duo released their last episode on November 1, 2024, after four years hosting together.
