I vape around my baby and I won’t stop – trolls say I’m ‘chavvy as hell’ & ‘look trampy’, at least it’s not a cigarette

A MUM has been dubbed ”chavvy as hell” after revealing she vapes in front of her baby.

18-year-old mother, only known as @pheebs on TikTok, came under fire after proudly admitting she vapes with her baby daughter around.

Just like smoking, vaping around babies, kids, and pregnant people is not safe.

In fact, vaping around anyone comes with huge health risks for numerous reasons.

Not only are the harsh chemicals given off by vape pens and e-cigarettes dangerous to inhale, but they can also settle on clothes and other surfaces – where they can continue to impact the health of people in the space after the vape is put away.

The chemicals found in vape aerosols are different from those found in cigarette smoke.

“E-cigarettes commonly contain propylene glycol and glycerol. These substances can decompose to form formaldehyde and acetaldehyde which are known carcinogens,” Dr. Ambler, a pediatrician at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, told Parents.

“They can also contain metals such as lead, nickel, and arsenic, which are known to be harmful to the human body.”

Secondhand smoke from vaping — the vapor created by the use of e-cigarettes that lingers in the air — can also put those around at risk.

“Secondhand vaping can contain carcinogens like nitrosamines which can cause cancer. The long-term health effects on users and bystanders are still unknown,” said Karen Judy, MD, a pediatrician at Northwestern Medicine.

Despite the dangers, the TikToker – who insisted the was ”healthy” – told social media users she still vapes in front of her little one.

”Yes, I’m a mum. Yes, I vape. But at the end of the day if my daughter is in the pram, I’m gonna be vaping.”

She went on to try to justify herself: ”It’s not like I’m gonna blow it in her face. I support other mums, not judge!”

‘You should be judging yourself’

Since being posted on the platform, the video has racked up close to 93k views, with 150 people flooding to comments to slam her.

One concerned viewer said: ”It should be hard to understand, vaping is bad for you, vaping around your children is bad for them.

Smoking vs. vaping

VAPING has been touted as an effective tool to help people quit smoking.

Though vaping is substantially less harmful than smoking, the habit isn’t completely harmless and comes with its own set of risks.

The NHS only recommends it for adult smokers, to support quitting smoking.

GP and author Dr Philippa Kaye explained to The Sun that the differences between vaping and smoking – and whether one is better than the other – is “complicated”.

“In a nutshell, vaping is better than smoking, but breathing air is better than vaping at all.”

Vaping exposes users to far fewer toxins – and at lower levels – than smoking cigarettes.

Switching to vaping significantly reduces your exposure to toxins that can cause cancer, lung disease, and diseases of the heart and circulation like heart attack and stroke.

These diseases are not caused by nicotine, which is relatively harmless to health. But research has still linked vaping to a higher risk of failure and lung disease.

Health risks of cigarettes

  • Smokers are more likely than nonsmokers to develop heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer
  • Smokers are at greater risk for diseases that affect the heart and blood vessels
  • Smoking can cause lung disease by damaging your airways and the small air sacs
  • Smoking can cause cancer almost anywhere in your body
  • It affects overall health too, such as your mouth, eyes, immune system and fertility

Health risks of vaping

  • They can cause side effects such as throat and mouth irritation, headache, cough and feeling sick
  • They could lead to tooth decay
  • They could damage heart health
  • They could cause lung disease
  • They could slow brain development

”You should be judging yourself and doing what’s best for your child.”

Another chimed in with their opinion, writing: ”The only reason I don’t think it’s right for you it’s because you’re going to derive your daughter from the privilege of having a healthy moma for most of her – if not whole-life.”

”It looks trampy,” someone else reckoned, whilst a fourth branded the mother ”chavvy as hell”.

However, bizarrely, there were also a handful of those who didn’t see an issue with the young teen vaping with her baby around.

One said: ”Idk why people hate on mums who vape, a lot of the people in my generation (who are now mums too) grew up with parents that smoked the most rancid cigarettes.

”It really isn’t that deep.”

”It’s the mams that are puffing on a cig whilst carrying their kids that need judging,” someone else thought.

Vaping around kids

Vaping around children poses health risks, and it’s best to avoid it, as exposure to second-hand vapor can lead to harmful effects like nicotine exposure and respiratory issues.

Exposure to harmful chemicals: Vaping produces an aerosol that contains nicotine and other potentially harmful chemicals, which children can inhale.

Respiratory problems: Exposure to secondhand vapor can irritate the lungs and potentially lead to respiratory issues like coughing and shortness of breath.

Increased risk of asthma: Studies suggest a link between secondhand vaping and higher rates of asthma in children.

Potential for poisoning: E-liquids can be toxic if ingested or come into contact with skin, so it’s crucial to keep them out of reach of children.

The best way to protect children is to not vape in their presence or in areas where they may be present.
