JAKE PAUL has branded Canelo Alvarez “an owned slave” in the wake of their shock fight collapsing.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer and Mexican great had a deal in place for a May 3 bout in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena to be streamed on Netflix.

And rival promoter Eddie Hearn admitted the fight could have banked the pair a stunning $100MILLION each.
Paul revealed the blockbuster was to be announced on Tuesday, February 11 – until it dramatically unravelled overnight.
Canelo instead decided to sign a four-fight deal with Saudi Arabia’s boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh – KOing Paul’s hopes of a mega-fight.
And the American responded by posting AI images of him defeating Canelo accompanied by a verbal tirade on the world champion.
Paul posted: “Breaking news: Canelo Alvarez ducked me Jake Paul and is now an owned slave with no regard for the pride of the Mexican people who support him on US soil.
“It’s not surprising when his whole career he has done nothing for the sport of boxing outside the ring. I’m the new face of boxing.
“You cannot have the biggest fight of 2025 without my name involved.
“When all of your events tank and lose money you will all realize who the king of the sport is. 28 years old. Biggest fight in boxing history.

“My own boss. Not owned. 5 years in. All of you felines want to see me fail, but god has other plans.
“It’s the era of good. The era of the elephant. It’s the era of MVP.”
Paul, 28, is coming off a points win over Mike Tyson, 58, in November with over 100MILLION tuning in to watch on Netflix.
That was despite the controversy surrounding Tyson’s age and the fact it was his first professionally-sanctioned bout in 20 YEARS.
Canelo, 34, meanwhile was also negotiating a September super-fight against unbeaten Terence Crawford, 37, for his super-middleweight belts.
But he still needed an opponent to face for his regular Cinco de Mayo weekend fight in May.
That is when talks with Paul accelerated – to the anger of Saudi chief Alalshikh who then called off talks for Canelo and Crawford.
Alalshikh believed fighting the 11-1 celebrity would have diminished the size of his blockbuster against Crawford.
He also claimed Canelo had no intention of actually fighting Paul – instead just needing an opponent for May.

So Alalshikh offered Alvarez a four-fight deal, starting with a warm-up on May 4 in Riyadh before the title bout with Crawford four months later.
And Canelo will also have two more fights in 2026 – potentially in Saudi – after agreeing the late U-turn.
Now the four-division champ will proceed with his bout against Crawford – while Paul is left to find a new opponent.
A statement from Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions then followed.
It read: “MVP was deep in negotiations for a blockbuster fight between Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez on Cinco de Mayo weekend in Las Vegas, a massive event for the Mexican, Puerto Rican and American fans, and it’s disappointing to see how the situation unfolded.
“MVP operates with integrity, transparency, and respect for the sport, its athletes, and the fans. Unfortunately, not everyone in the boxing world shares those values.
“This situation is a reminder not to believe everything you read, especially when the current media environment is often controlled by those with hidden agendas, including promoters who have reporters on their payroll.
“We remain in active discussions with multiple high-profile opponents and are committed to delivering the biggest fights, the most exciting events, and to working with partners who share our values and our commitment to boxing and its fighters.
“Jake Paul isn’t going anywhere, and neither is MVP. We’ll continue to disrupt boxing, on our terms.”
