Beauty fan shows off manicure but gets utterly rinsed for her ‘duck nails’ as people slam them as ‘quacked up’

THERE are loads of different styles you can go for when it comes to getting a manicure.

From sleek and pointed stiletto nails to short and sweet, but one woman has left beauty fans stunned after she showed off her unique choice.

Posting on Facebook, the anonymous woman shared her ‘duck nails’, and people have slammed them as ‘quacked up’.

Unlike most nail shapes which either taper in at the end or remain straight, duck nails flare out for a very unique look.

The nail shape was popularised in the early 2000s by MTV Jersey Shore star, Snooki, but has since taken a back seat in most salons.

But the beauty fan proudly showed off her fresh set on social media and said: “Ducked ’til I die.”

Her post then found its way to a Facebook page dedicated to unusual manicures, where people criticised not just the duck shape but also the design of the nails.

The matte nails have a French tips design, but instead of the smooth finish most manicures have, each nail had a bumpy texture.

“The shape is the last thing we should worry about,” one person slammed.

“Looks like she painted plasters and stuck them on,” a second said.

A third agreed: “I used to use notebook paper and Elmer’s glue to make long nails when I was a kid. This looks exactly like that.”

And someone else thought the manicure looked like a bad DIY project, they said: “This looks like it was done with craft sand and roll on white out strips.”

Meanwhile, someone else commented on the post: “Did she make sure to touch EVERY surface in her house before she popped her hands under the UV lamp to dry?

“Going for the crumbled paper look… very high fashion don’t you know.”

And someone else said: “Does this looking she picked off the walls and stuck it on her fingers?”

NAIL FAIL

Previously, manicurist Megan Turner revealed the nail trends that will make you look cheap and how to avoid them.

NAIL STICKERS

They were a huge trend during the pandemic when booking an appointment with your manicurist was near impossible, even when lockdown was lifted.

But, now there’s no excuse for the cheap, plastic sheets.

Not only are they bad for the planet but they peel off within days, leaving your nails looking patchy and unfinished.

If you don’t have a steady enough hand to draw your design, try using dried flowers instead and setting them under a clear polish – it’s perfect for the cottage core trend!

THICK ACRYLICS

This is probably the biggest no-no when it comes to neat, stylish-looking nails.

Even if you’re building length, there’s no excuse for thick acrylics. They make everyday tasks difficult and look cheap.

Any good professional wouldn’t let you leave their chair with chunky extensions.

Instead, find a manicurist who does gel extensions, they’re more customisable and give a much more natural and stylish finish. Plus, they’re much healthier for the nail too.

AIRBRUSH

Thankfully, finding a salon that actually has an airbrush gun isn’t easy, and it should stay that way.

Using an airbrush generally requires a stencil, meaning there’s little skill involved and anyone can have the exact same design.

If you want something truly unique, you need to go for a hand-painted finish.

Most nail salons now have nail art specialists, and the quality of their work is far better than any stencil can offer.
