As John offers Ruby a coffee, the edgy Aaron breaks into Mill Cottage, gathering Anthony’s things along with a spare car key.

The two are intrigued to see Cain closing up the garage for a few days, a situation they hope will work in their favour.

Aaron begins stripping down Anthony’s car, while John watches with growing concern.

Later, John reassures Aaron that there’s no evidence of Anthony’s murder left at the depot, feeling like he’s been a steady support for his boyfriend.

But as John pretends to lead a health and safety initiative at the depot, he stumbles upon a tooth from Anthony’s, hidden on the floor.

Trying to maintain his composure, John does his best to hide his anxiety and avoid drawing attention to it.

However, his plan to retrieve the tooth is thwarted when Caleb suddenly appears, accusatory.

When Ruby answers the door to a distressed and haunted Aaron, she faces the difficult decision of whether to let him speak or risk even worse consequences.

As Aaron opens up about his self-harm and his struggles with Gordon, Ruby tries to console him, but Aaron’s pain overwhelms him.

He confesses to her, admitting he killed Anthony – leaving Ruby in shock.

Meanwhile, Steph is shocked to discover that Anthony’s car is gone and vents her frustration on Caleb and Ruby.

Caleb insists that this behaviour is typical of Anthony, but Ruby is left crumbling under the weight of the emotional turmoil.

The next day, an awkward Chas admits to Ruby that she told Nicola about Anthony being a danger to children.

Furious, Ruby demands that Chas retract what she said to protect Steph, who is still unaware of the full truth.

Chas reluctantly backtracks, telling Nicola and Laurel that she misspoke.

They’re both incredulous, still convinced that Anthony’s disappearance somehow stems from their actions.

Though they feign gratitude for Chas clearing things up, once she’s gone, Laurel is left reeling from the damage done, even as Nicola tries to calm her down.

Laurel wrestles with the guilt and admits that she must go to the police to tell the truth.

But can Nicola convince her to pull back from the brink?
